  1. No way. Couldn't pretend to be this crap.
  2. This is predictably shite. The only reason we're anywhere near close on the scoreboard is because we're playing the only other side at our level. I'm not emotional, or upset, or disappointed, or anything. Just bored.
  3. It can't possibly be any worse than listenening to Derm and Tone. There isn't a worse commentator in the business than Tony Shaw.
  4. Great tackle Jake. Broken even now buddy
  5. He's an absolute terrier. It's his biggest strength and his general ferocity will probably be the difference between making it and not.
  6. I just paid the $5 on the AFL mobile website to stream it on my phone. Edit: Also, if anyone does have a stream link, don't share it in this thread (it'll just be deleted).
  7. Who would've thought? I thought he was just picked because of his race it's in Darwin. As for the game - so far it looks like 15th vs 16th.
  8. 7:10pm Darwin time is 7:40pm Melbourne time.
  9. I've posted this before, but this has practical limitations. Given the list sizes, you'd have a number of "supplementary" players on your list that are basically filler to keep your reserves side stocked. These would be amateur players that you'd essentially be asking to travel every couple of weeks to play footy, and you'd have to pay them to some degree (i.e. AFL clubs paying players who are not good enough to play AFL football). With so many interstate teams now I think the costs of running it would far exceed the benefit of it.
  10. As thrilling as the discussions over the meaning of "race" and then "contemporaneous" were, they have now exited the thread. Let's try and at least keep to the topic just a little bit.
  11. Retaining Dunn would just be proof that we're still holding on to crud players for way too long. He's in the prime of his career in our god awful side and he's still not best 18. Honestly, delisting he and Bate will be the easiest decisions Neeld and his team will ever make.
  12. With the he wrote Magner and Spencer after the full stop, it looks like an editing error to me.
  13. The fact that there's any argument over who is better out of Bate, Bennell, Dunn or Petterd is indicative of BH's point about forming an attachment to ordinary players. In the big picture none of these players have a role to play in our quest for glory and all should be gone at years end.
  14. I like the term iiBorg better ;-)
  15. There's no room for either of them. These two will be the first two to be scotched, this is an absolute no brainer. Petterd will come in a close third.
  16. My gut feel at the moment is that Cook in the long term will prove to a(nother) poor early pick in the long run, but I'm not ready to abandon all hope yet because he's only young still and hasn't had much of a run to find good form. However if the club decides it has seen enough and shows him the door, I'd accept that as I have no choice but to trust their judgement, and it's obvious that in the past we've held on to crap players for way too long.
  17. Urgh. Please, please tell me it was obvious that I was kidding!
  18. No race card from this do gooder gen Y, I just don't understand the basis of this 'cynicism'. What reason are they picking him for if it's not to prove his worth to the coach? As I said - he's from WA so the "local" card is out, and he's not a household name nor is he a star of the game so I highly doubt the locals are going to flock to see him, so that's out too. What have I missed?
  19. It sounded warranted - or at least debatable - from the Casey reports. Also given that time is not exactly on his side to prove himself given that he's out of contract this year, I'd expect the coach wants to see if he can play as early as he can. I'm happy with the selection on both those fronts. As it happens I also think the "aboriginal drawcard" card you're playing is pretty far fetched- firstly Jetta is from WA, and secondly I doubt too many kids really give a toss about seeing him play; he's a no name player in the AFL (ignoring that his surname itself is something of a brand these days, but that has nothing to do with Nev). If it was Liam Jurrah we were playing prematurely you might have a point. I wouldn't say cynical so much as completely illogical.
  20. I reckon referring to members as "ologists" or "landers" is forumist. Can't we all just be "Melbourne supporters"?
  21. It's a lot easier to press your case for retention on the list if you can actually get on the park, so I'm pleased for him in that regard. Good luck "Pickles"!
  22. Hey WYL, they've got these new fandangled things called TV's these days. You no longer have to travel to Adelaide to watch matches there
