  1. 6 - Sylvia - It has been a breakout year for him, and he performed well again today 5 - Jamar - Never thought I'd see the day where he kicks 5! Possible FF? 4 - Jetta - His best game easily. He showed smarts today we hadn't yet seen from him 3 - Robertson - He's still got it. Sad he's in the wrong place at the wrong time 2 - Moloney - Kept working his ass off, and deserves the B&F this year 1 - Davey - Good second half, quiet first half
  2. Such a shame for him to end his career with another injury, though I guess it sums it up for him. He has been a good player for us, and in our finals years, he was a key player and general in the backline. Best of luck to him, and I hope he stays involved with the club in some way
  3. What an awful thread. Mods should delete it. Lucas was a great player for Essendon, and one of the best in the AFL in his prime. He has a premiership medalion, which is more than anyone on our list has. He was AA as a CHB, and probably should have been AA as a CHF in 2006 or 2007. He continually performed in big games and was a key part of the Dons success. I would have loved for him to have played for Melbourne. If he had we would have probably won a flag in our 2004-2006 finals stint. Why would you start a thread disrespecting someone who has had a great career? Poor form!
  4. Agree with everything said here, and have witnessed it myself also. Moloney is a true leader, and IMO should be captain. I'd have Moloney © Mclean (VC) and Davey, Green, Bruce rounding out the leadership group. This way Bruce and Green will help lead and develop the youngsters, and in a few years time when they retire Grimes and whoever else will be ready to take up roles as leaders. This is assuming we have a new captain and Mcdonald retires, which I think he probably should. He's been good the last few weeks, but he's really struggled this year, and at times even been a liability onfield. Not to discredit him, as he has been a fantastic servant of the club who has given his all and gone in hard when others dared not, but I think his time is passed now.
  5. Very good win by the Bombers yesterday, and they should be given full credit for knocking off what seemed to be an unbeatable unit. Reiwolts kick may have won it for them, but it was only moments earlier that Prismall missed a gettable shot to seal the game for the Bombers anyway. They deserved that win, as they were easily the better team on the day, and beat the Saints at their own game. Any team able to smash the Saints midfield deserves alot of credit. And even though I dont rate him as highly as alot of other people do, Jobe Watson was brilliant yesterday. Dont listen to people downplaying the victory Ash. Enjoy it, as it was a fantastic upset and I know I'd be bragging!
  6. 6. Davey - Very Very good game. One of the most complete games he's played yet. He showed skill, dash, leadership, smarts, it was just a perfect display of what he will hopefully be able to keep up consistently for the next few years 5. Bate - Was really strong today, and brought his teammates into the game well 4. Jones - One of the best games I've seen him play. His kicking was alot better today, and his backing himself to break the lines paid off today 3. Rivers - Was the Rivers of old today, chopping off incoming passes and generally outsmarting his opponents 2. Morton - Was really solid down back again. Maybe he will develop into a mobile rebounding CHB in the Nathan Bock mould? Who knows at this stage! He is really starting to shine, and can be played in so many different positions. He's probably got the most potential of anyone on our list, and it shows. He'll be a star for us! 1. Valenti - He is a terrier. He ha a great hunger for the contest and doesnt let his size worry him at all. Good game by him today and he deserves a spot on a senior list, whether it's ours or not. Apologies to Dunn, Moloney, Mclean, McDonald, and pretty much everyone else in the team.
  7. That's great news! :D Cale Morton is one of the best young players at the club in my lifetime, and with further development he could become a very versatile, and very dangerous player. His height and aerobic capacity make him a potential match up nightmare through the middle of the ground. He's also showed he has a good kick on him and can bob up and kick a small bag when needed. I see him becoming an attacking wingman, a goal scoring midfielder, which IMO is one of the key things we lack. Apart from Sylvia, nobody really chimes in regularly the way Travis, Yze etc used to. Cale still has alot of development left in him both physically and with his game, but I'm pretty happy with where he is at as a 19 year old 2nd year player. Hopefully he continues along and is a key part of our next flag tilt.
  8. I posted my concerns about Butcher on here early in the year when he was all the rage. It seems I was right to a degree, in that he is more of a man amongst boys body-wise out there, abit like Tom Hawkins was, so he's going to dominate at that level, but IMO doesn't have the talent to be a top line forward at AFL level. He's also an arrogant petulant little sh*t. I'm hoping we take Scully and Trengove. Would be disappointed with Moribito, as while he has good pace, his kicking isnt great and he doesnt seem a smart footballer. Not worth a #2 pick for mine. Would not be disappointed with Kane Lucas, as he is pretty classy allround IMO.
  9. Is Freak the new breed of YzeMagic? As we move into this next era for the MFC, seems Freak has become the new crazed poster on here lol. Bring on 2010!
  10. Wells has been injured nearly all year. They're probably just giving him a run in the VFL to see where he's at, and what he needs to do for the remainder of the year to be fit and primed for season 2010.
  11. It might not be true, but that's really disappointing. I really wanted to see him get through the entire season. Without Beamer in there, and also Mclean, we will not win many clearances. Good tanking tactic though I guess.
  12. Good to see Grimes back, if only for the fact we now know his back injury isnt serious! Well, it isnt at the moment anyway, I'm sure it will be something he and the club have to manage for his whole career, but I have faith they'll be able to. It's a very interesting bench. I'd like to see Moloney play, purely because I want him to play out a whole season. I think that would be good for him mentally to get that under his belt, and then continue on with his good form. I'd also like to see Sylvia play, as he was in great form before the suspension, and he needs to try and recapture and build upon that as quickly as possible, for both his sakes and the clubs. Morton was good last week, so he'll likely get a go, unless they're thinking of resting him. He did alot less running last week though, so maybe that was his rest? Unsure about the rest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Spencer has barely played a full game in VFL seniors since returning from injury has he? I think he played a half in the Reserves, and most of last weeks game in the Seniors?
  13. Brisbane wont let him go, or if they are forced too it will be for Pick 3 or something very very valuable. IMO, for an unproven and injury prone ruckman, that is too much. I'd rather stick with what we've got and continue to develop the youngsters. The rucks can hold their own, and who knows how Meesen and Spencer will develop. Midfielders are the more important cog we need to work on. No use getting 50 hit outs a game if the opposition just sharks them off our mids!
  14. Yeah he is on big money. In the top 16 highest paid players in the league I remember reading? Also, he is a slowish in and under midfielder, and we have plenty of those. What we need is more outside pace and polish, so he doesnt fit the bill. Still I wouldnt mind him in Red n Blue if the price was right. He always gives his all and is hard as rock, exactly the kind of player to show the youngsters how it should be done. I feel sorry for Ball, as he is a very good player who's been cut down by injury. Before the OP, he was actually a quick mid with a good kick, but it appears the OP has robbed him of his speed, and also the penetration in his kicking. I would've had him on par with Judd before the OP actually. Yes, I think he WAS that good.
  15. Never seen him feature so high in YM's votes, and likely never will again lol
  16. Yeah wasnt great to see. Then again he weights low 70s kgs, and White weighs 105kgs.... so over 30kgs of difference lol. I'm sure he'll hear all about it from the coaching staff and will learn from it. I really like Bennell. The only problem I have with him at the moment is he isnt getting enough of the ball. When he does get it he has good dash and kicking, and I think the club should try to utilize that more. Whether that means playing him on the wing instead of in defense I'm not sure, but it's definitely his strength and hopefully we see more of it in the future, as he is wasting in shut down defensive roles IMO.
  17. Well put. He is a clubman, and should be remembered as a guy who forged a good career for himself and wound up one of our best forwards. He won us many games off his own boot, and when we played finals this decade he was a key reason. Can I also point out he is the 5th highest goal scorer in our club's long history, and is only 4 goals off overtaking one Garry Lyon. That is a fantastic achievement for someone who worked his way into the team lateish, off the rookie list, and also isnt the biggest bloke going around. You people should show some respect before turning on your own. Yes his career is close to an end, but that shouldnt discredit all he did for us for the last 10 years! The same thing happened when White, Yze etc retired, and frankly it makes me sick. You lot are f*cking pathetic. Mods should ban the lot of you!
  18. GET YA CAPES ON BOYS!!! IT'S WHARFIE TIME!!! *All hail Teh Pav*
  19. Epic Fail Thread. No but seriously I'll miss reading your posts Joeboy. Perhaps we can start an "epic fail of the week" thread in your absence? I'm sure this last few rounds are going to be brilliant quality football. It would be fun to point out the biggest stuff up of the week :D (and lets hope it's not winning...)
