  1. Goddard is likely going to Freo, but even if he wasn't I wouldn't touch him with a 50 foot pole. He has a poor attitude, gets frustrated with the attention he receives and lashes out at taggers, just like Aaron Davey does. He hasn't played good football since 2010 and I wouldn't rate him in the top 50players in the league based on form the last 2 years. We want someone to lead with a good attitude, not someone who cracks the shits and struggles to get a kick if he isn't played as a loose man. Plus he might be suspended to open next season due to surprise surprise lashing out at a tagger and grabbing their face repeatedly. Massive No Thanks to Goddard.
  2. I feel this way. I will renew, but I don't feel like it and do it because I know it's the right thing to do. However, I pay for 5 other memberships every year for relatives and none of them care anymore, so that is 5 memberships I'm not wasting money on anymore and renewing. As much as I love the club, this year was the worst year in my lifetime I feel, and I get no pleasure watching the team anymore. I see no passion, I see no fight, but worst of all I see no hope going forward. Back in 2010 watching our young team play I thought we'd be hitting top 4 about now. Instead we have gone backwards in 6 years of rebuilding. If it wasn't for wins over expansion teams, which I don't consider real teams, then we've had one win this year. One win. And we are last. We hold no respect from anyone because we are terrible and weak and have been for decades, but the worst part is I see no hope. I don't see how we will improve and we sure as [censored] won't be getting near a flag in the next 5-10 years. Edit: forgive typos this was typed on a phone.
  3. If he has left then it's a big loss for us. He's one of the few senior players we have above the age of 25 and one of our few players with some bulk and fight. Off field he is borderline obsessed with the club, so he must have been treated like absolute [censored] to want to walk away. It seems our culture problems still exist and if anything Neeld has taken us plummeting down the ladder and losing the players along the way. It's a sad state of affairs at our club. We're worse off now than ever before IMO
  4. If he does I'll be distraught. It'd be like missing Cotchin again
  5. We need to land Toumpas. Would be nice to also pick up one of O'Rouke, Mayes, Wines depending on where we pick up Viney. We should definitely be targeting these quality mids, and Toumpas fills exact needs for us. Pace, skill, composure, leadership, work ethic. He's the complete package and we need to get him in red n blue!
  6. If he is not in red n blue next season onwards I will be severely disappointed by an already disappointing club.
  7. Really want Toumpas in red n blue next year. I'll be [censored] if we miss out on him. He is all class!
  8. If Gysberts wound up going to Geelong, based on how they've developed midfielders this last 6-7 years, he would be AA quality within two years. It's so frustrating that we can't seem to develop players like other teams. The talent is there, we just need to harness it.
  9. As sad as it is, I actually agree. I normally say give talls time, they will show signs and develop, but neither of these guys have shown anything IMO. Even guys like Troy Davis look more likely at the moment. Cook hasnt developed physically, appears mentally fragile, and hasnt shown anything in two years to suggest he will make it. He is still struggling to cement himself in the VFL let alone playing at AFL level. Fitzy, while I admire him and like his pace and agility for a tall, just has shocking skills and I fear with all the health issues he has, will likely not make it either. We have a number of talls on the list, and I do think we should give them both another year or two to see if they come on, but I am not expecting anything and wouldn't wait any longer than that.
  10. All the best with retirement Brad. I hope he stays connected with the club beyond his playing days. He's a really good guy, always positive and upbeat. The few times I've met him he has been really friendly and up for a chat. I'll always have fond memories of 2000 and many games he played. He managed to develop really well as his career progressed. Who would've thought that skinny kid would wind up making floating back into packs for marks a trademark! I also think he is the best set shot from Melbourne in modern times. Will miss him. The whole list is pretty new and young now. Nervous times ahead!
  11. He may well be our best defender this year. He' already played on, and beat, Nick Reiwoldt earlier this year. I'd imagine he'd be first picked to repeat that again.
  12. 6) Jones 5) Green 4) Sylvia 3) Grimes 2) Mcdonald 1) Tapscott
  13. He got it dead right. Bennell and Ablett were far better than anyone else on the ground. Nearly 40 touches and 4 goals and you're saying that's a joke? I can't remember the last time a Melbourne player had a game anywhere near as good as either of those two played today. Pull your head out of your ass!
  14. I highly doubt this will happen, and I pray it doesn't. We are already languishing in one of the most unsuccessful periods of any sports club, and adding another wooden spoon would be awful.
  15. Looks like an uphill battle today for the Scorps
  16. Gold Coast by 28 points
  17. Nathan Jones. Mitch Clark before injury. That's it. This has been the worst year for the MFC in my lifetime. Here's hoping next year sees a quick improvement or I might just off myself!
  18. Congrats to them!
  19. We are the opposite of invincible. We are frail, weak and battling to survive. The AFL won't want to punish and risk killing us though. It's bad for their image to kill off the oldest club going round. We deserve it though. We are a weak waste of space at present. We haven't been a decent club for decades. We've relied on support from others to survive. And after all this, we're back at the bottom again with no hope in sight. It will be interesting to see what happens. I'll be biting my nails because as [censored] as we are, I love the club and want it to prosper. I just can't see it happening right now
  20. Stage 4 except for cutting ties. We're terrible, I see no hope for the future, and I feel sorry for all the kids who've been made Melbourne supporters and will likely suffer like I have/will.
  21. Nothing will happen. We are such a weak club that the AFL can't afford to punish us, because if they do it will likely kill us. They don't want to kill the oldest club in the game, however frail it may be.
  22. It's been 6 years since we played finals. If it weren't for the brand new expansion teams we would be bottom of the ladder. Again. I have never been more ashamed to be a Melbourne supporter. He kicked the match winning goal that kept Carlton's season alive. He's been Carlton's best player the last 5 weeks. In the absence of Judd he has stepped up and carried the team, playing some fantastic footy, better than any of our players.
  23. Nothing said was untrue. We tanked, as have lots of clubs over the years. Problem is we now have a team full of losers and didn't reap the rewards we hoped for. In the end we did nothing but harm the club further, and it may not be able to come back from this.
  24. People talk about Gysberts skills not being very good. From memory he was ranked top, or within the top few at draft camp for kicking. Skills-wise he was top of his class. The fact he hasn't developed quickly enough due to injury or the club not developing yet another player to their potential is a different story. The fact is he HAS the skills. People saying he doesn't is wrong. If he can get fitter and stay injury free he could showcase those skills and become an elite midfielder. Only problem is he plays for Melbourne. We just can't seem to develop players, even the ones universally rated as literally the best in the country come draft time. It's quite sad.
  25. We need to draft Toumpas for some outside skill, pace, and leadership. We need to draft another inside midfielder. Where we take Viney will determine whether we get Wines or the like as well as Viney. Toumpas should be our main target IMO. We get enough ball, but our spread, skills and decision making are poor. He ticks all the boxes and would suit our list very well.
