  1. I was always a fan of Stuart Dew. Especially his long-goal kicking. As Redleg said...he killed us
  2. I'm both disappointed and angry. Dean Bailey should be given the benefit of the doubt.....but I do hope he gave the players a MASSIVE spray after the game in the change-rooms. I know I would have!!! <_<
  3. I wholeheartedly agree casey scorp! I suggest getting in contact with the MFC, after the dramas of Sunday have died down, and promoting this idea of Casey Fields as our permanent Summer training base to the likes of Chris Connolly and the new CEO Paul McNamee.
  4. Absolutely nothing wrong with Cranbourne/Berwick thank you very much! I think having our summer training base at Casey Fields would be absolutely fantastic and would give us the opportunity to gain NEW members from a growing area of Melbourne. Most Demons supporters are a diaspora around Melbourne. There is nothing wrong with setting up ties in Cranbourne where there are a lot of young families around and we could recruit many potential MFC members in the area.
  5. It seems that Paul McNamee will have his work cut out for him. People and sponsors aren't fond of losers...and thats what we definitely were today!
  6. I'm not going to start blaming Dean Bailey just yet. Although I will admit that I did want Kevin Sheedy to be our coach.....
  7. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Well I'm back from the game now...........it was horrible. I hate doing it (and I'm ashamed of it) but I was one of those many Demons supporters that left at 3/4 time. As I was walking back through the MCG carpark I turned to these Demons supporters walking alongside and said...."Well, that was s**t!" And their response was..."yep it was." It was seriously like I was having nightmares of 1997 when the Demons last "won" the wooden spoon. What a DISGRACEFUL performance! Anyways...enough ranting..I just wanted to know if people could tell me what Dean Bailey said in his Post-match interview? I'm sure he's thinking to himself.............why did I get into this coaching caper?
  8. The Demons BLOCKBUSTER game on a Good Friday seems like a worthwhile idea. I know I would definitely go! I was actually in the City on Good Friday night and noticed there was actually a few pubs and bars open. So why not have a game of football on too? I also hope that the Demons get started on organising our Summer training base at Casey Fields as I think there is ALOT of potential there. As for another idea. Why not set up a Melbourne "elites" club? A special social club for wealthy Melbourne supporters who donate money to the club at numerous fundraisiers that the MFC could have? Get in contact with all those so-called "supporters" that barrack for Melbourne? People like Max Walker, Alan Stockdale, and even Joe Gutnick?! Ask them to help more in whatever way they can.... Perhaps promote the match-day functions more for wealthy Melbourne supporters? This could be related to big-business too and have numerous opportunities for businessmen (and women) to possibly do "wheeling and dealing" at the football over a chardonnay or two. We really need to set up new ways where we think "outside the square" for the MFC to make more money. I realise I'm grasping at straws but we have to do something as the long term survival of OUR club is at stake!
  9. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Personally I'm quite excited about the Demons considering to have their summer training base at Casey Fields. Why? Because there is soooo much potential if we set up there! Here's a link to the Casey Fields website: http://www.casey.vic.gov.au/caseyfields/ The facilities that they have are quite impressive and I'm sure the Casey Council would definitely want to upgrade further if they have an AFL team based there! There are many, many other opportunities if we have our summer training base at Casey Fields as well. For example it is a massive growth area with a lot of young families. If the Demons promote themselves well enough in the area then there is a good chance we can recruit ALOT more MFC members! Here are some links showing that the Casey Council is very keen to have the Demons set up a summer training base there too! http://thejournal.yourguide.com.au/news/sp...ns/1204306.html http://www.realfooty.com.au/articles/2008/...5126012738.html I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with having two training bases (one for during the season and one for during the pre-season). We will have our home-base in central Melbourne in the Olympic park precinct and the other summer training base out in Cranbourne at Casey Fields. The only issue is that it may see the end of our relationship with the Sandringham Zebras. As we could join with the Casey Scorpians? Of course, this is all hypothetical at the moment as St.Kilda is still associated with the Casey Scorpions. Although St.Kilda has now set up a new home-base in Frankston...so they may also join with the Frankston VFL side the Dolphins. Only time will tell what happens? I just hope the MFC make the most of this FANTASTIC opportunity to have a summer training base at Casey Fields. We also need new ways to get more members and this idea of setting up a training base in a "growth" area is worth a try.
  10. Yes I'm excited about the start of the season too! :D
  11. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! There seems to be a bit of good news from the MFC for a change after being a bit gloomy last week. Here's the link: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/D...px?newsid=56435
  12. Fantastic post there Jaded! I salute you in your efforts. I have been a paid up Melbourne member for the last 8-9 years and my support for the Demons is unconditional. Those so-called supporters who constantly criticize the MFC but don't do anything need to put their money where their mouth is! I also believe that Garry Lyon should become a board-member and possibly become the next President/Chairman of the MFC just like Eddie at the Magpies and James Brayshaw at the Kangaroos. We need PASSIONATE people involved with the MFC that will want to not just see us survive but thrive!
  13. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Ryan Willits may indeed be worth a punt. Here's a link about him: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-port...--ryan-willits/ If anybody would know about him it would be Dean Bailey. Anyways, we shall see what happens... GO DEMONS IN 2008! From Supreme_Demon
  14. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! I believe we will always be the Melbourne DEMONS!!! Melbourne DEMONS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO DEMONS IN 2008! From Supreme_Demon
  15. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Luckily I have a brother that goes to Monash (Clayton) and he DID actually see the Demons training there! I know that he definitely talked to Nathan Carroll. If you like I can ask him for a full report of what he saw later? GO DEMONS IN 2008! From Supreme_Demon
  16. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! This bloke shown below needs to step up! Thats right......Colin Sylvia! GO DEMONS IN 2008! From Supreme_Demon
  17. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Yes the reports are true. Here is the link: http://www.carltonfc.com.au/Default.aspx?t...mp;newsId=52032 I guess Chris Judd must have liked that digitally altered image of him in a Carlscum jumper which was in the papers a few weeks ago! I can respect Chris' decision. It's his life. He can do what he wants. That doesn't mean I'm not disappointed. In fact I was quite saddened when he said "no" to the Demons. He had the chance to play for the team he barracked for a kid and make his childhood dreams come true. But he chose in the end to be greedy and worry more about the glitz and glamor that was offered to him by the Billionaire Mr Pratt. The funny thing is, Carlscum have facilities just as poor as us. And it will take 2 years to have them up to standard..........the same time it will take us! I hope the Melbourne players definitely REMIND HIM of how he snubbed our club when we play against him! Perhaps we should have given Chris Judd lunch at a nice fancy restaurant to woo him? Time to move on Demons! We don't need one player to win a Premiership! We need an entire TEAM! GO DEMONS IN 2008! From Supreme_Demon
  18. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Here's the link: http://afl.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArti...px?newsId=51698 I wonder who will coach Essendon? GO DEMONS IN 2008?! From Supreme_Demon
  19. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! I really do hope the Demons some how get Chris Judd. It would be a massive coup for the club and would really bring about an air of hope and excitement around the club. Of course I'm a bit of a romantic and would always wish that IF I was ever talented enough to play AFL that if I wasn't drafted by the Demons I would want to go back to the Club that I loved and barracked for as a kid when I was ready to. Whether or not Chris Judd feels like this is another issue entirely! C'MON CHRIS COME AND PLAY FOR THE TEAM YOU BARRACKED FOR AS A KID! COME AND PLAY FOR THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!! GO DEMONS IN 2008?! From Supreme_Demon
  20. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! They have put up the latest article on the MFC website discussing Chris Judd meeting with us. Here's the link: http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=51499 C'mon Chris join the Mighty Demons! GO DEMONS IN 2008!? From Supreme_Demon
  21. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters, Imagine barracking for the Demons as a kid. You dreamed of winning the Premiership with the Demons and captaining the side. You are also very close to your family. But when you turn 17/18 you get drafted by another club on the other side of Australia (The West Coast Eagles). You become a superstar player. You win best and fairests for the club, a brownlow, a premiership and make lots of money. You also have a beautiful girlfriend! But deep down...you still remember your time as a kid barracking for the Demons. You remember your dreams of winning a Premiership with the Demons. Then your contract finishes and you have a chance to go back to Victoria. You get the chance to be close to your family again. There is also the chance to play for the team you barracked for as a kid (The Demons!). But you also have lots of other clubs offering you heaps and heaps of money to play for them. What would you take? The money or the chance to fulfill the dreams you have as a kid? If I already had everything....I know what choice I would make. (The Demons). Lets hope Chris Judd wants to make his childhood dreams of being a Premiership player for the Demons a REALITY. 1964 was a long time ago.......... Chris Judd could create history and be remembered as one of the GREATEST PLAYERS EVER if he helps the Demons break the Premiership drought. Let's hope Chris believes in making dreams come true. TO CHRIS, PLEASE COME AND PLAY FOR THE TEAM YOU BARRACKED FOR AS A KID, THE MIGHTY DEMONS!
  22. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! I too had hoped that the Demons would select Kevin Sheedy as our new coach. But that wasn't to be. In many ways Kevin Sheedy would have been the safe/easy option for us. Choosing Dean Bailey (a bloke I had never heard of until now) really is quite a daring risk. I respect the MFC board for thinking outside the square, and I hope that time will tell we made the right decision. No matter what the case I will support the MFC board's choice as coach and give Dean Bailey a chance to prove himself as a successful AFL coach. Message to Dean Bailey: THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB DEMANDS A PREMIERSHIP!!!! Go Demons in 2008!? From Supreme_Demon
  23. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! David Neitz is a CHAMPION of the Melbourne Football Club! He DESERVES to play 300 games! Anybody who doesn't agree can get stuffed! Hang on for a few more seasons Neita! We haven't got anybody else to replace you! GO DEMONS IN 2008? From Supreme_Demon
  24. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters, I've decided to make a thread about the possible choices that I would have as coach of the Demons. I understand its purely hypothetical..but there's nothing wrong with that. Here are my choices in order. 1# Guy McKenna 2# John Longmire 3# Michael Voss 4# Denis Pagan 5# Gary O'Donnell 6# Mark Harvey 7# Chris Connolly 8# Mark Riley 9# Kevin Sheedy 10# Malcolm Blight These selections are chosen from most likely to coach the Demons to least likely. GO DEMONS IN 2008? From Supreme_Demon
  25. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! I actually heard on tonight's news that Tom Hafey thinks Kevin Sheedy would be a good choice at the Demons? But thats only if Richmond don't sack Terry Wallace before the end of the year! Personally, I think the Demons will choose a younger bloke as our coach. But because next year will be the Demons 150th year we may want to go for a good quality and well-respected coach that would attract a lot of attention to the club. GO DEMONS IN 2008?
