  1. Here are my 5 questions for the @Demonland podcast. 1) Firstly, what a horrible past few days for the Melbourne Football Club. Losing to Carlton by 2 points in a semi final and then the great Ronald Dale Barassi passing away. I would like to hear a tribute to Ronald Dale Barassi and perhaps some fond memories of him? 2) Are we now going to be known as "chokers" in finals? Why can't we win these vital finals games in front of huge crowds at the MCG? Do we get stage fright? 3) Was Simon Goodwin out coached by Michael Voss in the semi final? Why the unused "super sub" of Josh Schache? It was a waste! Why not Brodie Grundy? I thought tactically we were outmanoeuvred by Carlton. Would a running player like Taj Woewodin or even Michael Hibberd had been a better option? 4) What cost us the game against Carlton? The missing shots on goal? The crucial chances to win key contests? Lack of a fully functioning forwardline? The fact that we crumbled under pressure with less than two minutes to go? What went wrong? 5) What do we need to do to recuperate from a humiliating two straight sets losses in finals series? How does the Melbourne Football Club get better? It needs to be "Premiership or bust" in 2024. Who should we look to recruit? Better decision makers and elite kicks into our forwardline? Better kicks at goal? Does the Demons coaching team also need an overhaul?
  2. Absolutely devastating. I am shocked to hear Ronald Dale Barassi has passed away. 😔 He deserves a state funeral. A HUGE part of the VFL/AFL. He will be sorely missed! A true Demon legend! Glad he got to witness the breaking of our 57 year Premiership drought! Will be remembered with fondness by Melbourne, Carlton, North Melbourne and Sydney. A monument to the game of Australian Rules Football! Rest In Peace Ron! Here is a news story about Ron's passing: https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/ron-barassi-dies-aged-87-as-football-world-pays-tribute-to-hall-of-fame-legend-c-11923257
  3. Excellent post! 😊👍 I wholeheartedly agree! A massive THANK YOU to @Demonland and the rest! Would rather vent here than on Big Footy! 🤮
  4. Steven May has been brilliant. Will probably still feel as gutted as the rest of us about last night. He loves the Melbourne Football Club. Hopefully he finishes again in the top 5 in the Melbourne Demons Best & Fairest. Should of been All Australian Full Back and hopefully will be next year.
  5. I think we definitely need to look at new line coaches to help Simon Goodwin. We may, or may not, be losing Adem Yze to Richmond if he successfully obtains the senior coaching role there. If not, he should transfer from midfield coach to forwardline coach at the Demons. I think Greg Stafford should stick to being just the ruck coach or be moved on. He is no forwardline coach. Troy Chaplin has been a great backline coach and will probably stay. Mark "Choco" Williams stays as head of development. In light of now "choking" in finals, we can probably learn a lot from him from when he was coach of Port Adelaide and overcame hardship and struggle to help win the 2004 AFL Premiership. I also think he has been a fantastic development coach for our younger players. The big question is, who do we bring in? Who should become our new midfield coach? Or new forwardline coach? Do we also need a specific goal kicking coach? Should we chase Brett Ratten (who quit North Melbourne) but could come back to the Demons as midfield coach after 20 years? Seeing as he was our midfield coach way back in 2004. Would Nathan Buckley consider coming back to coaching? Could we entice him to become our midfield coach? Unless he is happy being in the media? Another option could be getting Stuart Dew the former Gold Coast coach at the club? I know he was our original target before we fortunately chose Simon Goodwin as the apprentice to Paul Roos. Would Stuart Dew like a fresh start at the Demons? Blake Caracella at Essendon might also be someone with a good "football brain" that we need at the Demons to help our midfield or forwardline. Justin Leppitsch has also been an excellent backline coach at Collingwood. I would definitely be interested in seeing if he wants a new challenge. However, I think he is focused on Collingwood's finals campaign and wishes to be a senior AFL coach again. What about getting another old and wise head to help out? Gary Ayres? Rodney Eade? John Worsfold? Another factor is the expansion of our coaching department. Will we have development coaches assisting our line coaches again? I remember before COVID-19 and the restrictions to coaching departments we had Max Rooke at the Demons. Should we look to get recently retired players to help us? Perhaps get Nathan Jones back at the Demons? What about David Neitz or David Schwarz to help out our forwardline? What about Matthew Lloyd or Wayne Carey to assist our forwards? Anyway, there's a lot a questions to ponder. We need to get better just like every other AFL will be looking to get better next season. Hopefully the entire football department has a thorough review to look at what we did wrong and how we can improve for season 2024 and beyond.
  6. It's almost 4:00am. I am still angry and upset. Feeling numb too. And yes, I can't sleep! Arggghhh!!! 😫 I actually made a post like this 12 months ago. Saying it was a wasted season. It caused a bit of controversy, but I had to get off my chest the way that I felt! I think in someways it is yet again a wasted season in 2023. However, finishing top 4 again and "almost" beating Collingwood and "almost" beating Carlton leaves a lot of "what ifs" and hypothetical scenarios of what we should have and could have done differently. So close yet so far! Talk about misfortune! In the end it is probably more a wasted opportunity. Something which I hope really BURNS in the guts of all the Melbourne players and coaching staff. Especially as for the past 2 seasons we were a good chance to win the Premiership. Luck definitely was a factor too. Having injuries at bad times. Losing Harry Petty and Jake Melksham really had a detrimental affect on our forwardline. Yet we still could of won our finals games if we had better execution into the forwardline and we had kicked more goals than we did behinds! Poor kicking is poor football! Another embarassing factor is that we will now be known as "chokers" in big finals matches! Especially going out in straight sets 2 finals series in a row! What bad luck! How incredibly frustrating too! The harsh truth is, many opposition supporters and the general football public as well as the football media still don't respect us. Our 2021 AFL Premiership, while wonderful, was won over in Perth. We need to win the AFL Premiership at the MCG. By holding that Premiership cup up in front of a Melbourne crowd we will finally be able to shut up those who ridicule us. That is the only way to prove the naysayers wrong! I hope that all the Melbourne players go and get far away from football and have a nice long enjoyable break. But they also come back fit and ready with a determined resolve to make sure that in 2024 we will become AFL Premiers. It is now all about a Premiership or bust at the MCG for the Melbourne players! The rest of us fanatical Melbourne Demons supporters who simply can't accept the phrase "it's only a game" will try and cool down over time and then distract ourselves with the upcoming trade and drafting periods later in a few weeks time. As @Demonland has mentioned many times, MFCSS is a real phenomenon......it effects many of us. It literally drives us insane and causes pain, agony and sleepless nights. The only cure is more Premierships! GO DEMONS IN 2024!!! 🔴🔵👹
  7. Thought we got outcoached tonight. Having Josh Schache as the unused "super-sub" was an utter waste of time! Simon Goodwin has a lot of "learnings" to do over the off season.
  8. Far too upset and angry to think of any questions. Another wasted season! Argggghhhh!!! What a [censored] disappointment! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'll think of some questions in a few days when I have cooled down....
  9. [censored] hell!!!! Another wasted season! To choke like that twice in a row is humiliating. Missing crucial goals killed us! I think I am going to go and vomit!!!!🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
  10. I strangely feel calm. Not sure why?! I am excited about tonight deep down though. I feel we can win against the Blues. Definitely more anxious last week compared to this week. More confident in winning this game. Fingers crossed I am right! 🤞 Hoping that Brodie Grundy will be the "super sub" tonight. GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  11. I noticed this article about Hawthorn's trials and tribulations building their (3rd!) new home base in Dingley. Not that I have much sympathy for them! 😒 Here is the link to the article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1031238/hawthorn-hawks-committed-to-new-base-despite-woes-main-contender-emerges-for-ceo-role Anyway, fingers crossed we hear some good news soon about what is happening regarding our home base at Caulfield Racecourse? 🤞
  12. Here is the latest "Phantom Form Guide" from Cal Twomey for this 2023 AFL Draft. Please find the article via this link: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1030664/cal-twomeys-phantom-form-guide-top-draft-prospects-september-ranking Would be very happy with either.... ● Zane Duursma ● Nick Watson ● Nate Caddy ● Connor O'Sullivan At pick #5 for the Melbourne Demons. Personally, not too keen on drafting the Tasmanians just because we will probably end up losing them once the new Tasmanian side enters the AFL in a few years time.
  13. I want to see Brodie Grundy in for Jacob van Rooyen. James Jordon is the logical replacement for Angus Brayshaw. As for the "super sub"? I don't have a clue. But I am guessing it might be Daniel "Disco" Turner? Fingers crossed the Demons bloody win! 🤞
  14. They are a pack of corrupt bastards at the AFL! I hope Angus Brayshaw investigates his legal options. Both the AFL and Brayden "the Thug" Maynard deserve to be sued for the despicable lack of duty of care! Brayden "the Thug" Maynard could of killed Angus Brayshaw! I am with former Demons player Shaun Smith! The AFL is a disgrace! A PLAGUE UPON BOTH THEIR HOUSES (THE AFL AND COLLINGWOOD)!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  15. Eddie is a fat sack of excrement in a shirt with a face like a frog. Hope he choked on his spring rolls at that fancy Chinese restaurant he went to! He is isn't even Collingwood President anymore but he carries on like a pork chop! Shut your [censored] hole of a mouth Eddie!
  16. If Angus Brayshaw's footy career ends due to this tragic concussion injury and his previous history of concussions then the AFL and Brayden "the Thug" Maynard better watch out. I can see this all going to court for lack of duty of care and Angus Brayshaw having his football career ruined. Mark my words, there will be legal consequences in the future!
  17. If the AFL doesn't appeal then it just proves how totally corrupt it is. The big clubs like Collingwood and Carlton get their way, but the smaller clubs like Melbourne get shafted. The AFL has lost all credibility now and it will open itself up to more litigation from former players wishing to sue due to concussion issues. This is bad karma to screw over Angus Brayshaw and allow Brayden "the Thug" Maynard to get away with what he did! I agree with Shaun Smith the AFL are a disgrace! I hope that both the AFL and Collingwood get what they deserve! Bunch of [censored]!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
  18. Tom Morris can buzz off. He has lost all credibility in my view. In fact most of the media are scumbags! We're actually going to really need Brodie Grundy this week if Max Gawn "allegedly" has a broken toe. Fingers crossed we can get this ruck duo to work for the next 3 games in this finals campaign. 🤞
  19. Eddie talking about justice?! What a load of [censored]! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  20. What an absolute [censored] disgrace! Brayden "the thug" Maynard got off with nothing?! Talk about Collingwood bias! The AFL is corrupt! I hope Angus Bradshaw talks to his lawyers and sues Brayden Maynard! I am soooo [censored] angry right now! Screw the AFL! Screw Collingwood! And screw Brayden Maynard! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 The Melbourne Football Club should make a public statement against this utterly reprehensible perversion of justice!
  21. A wonderful podcast as always! Well done Andy, George and Binman! 😎👍
  22. Brayden "the thug" Maynard should get 6 weeks. Reduced to 3 weeks with appeal. Enjoy missing the Grand Final you vile [censored] piece of [censored] Brayden Maynard! A lump of slime and excrement like you belongs in the sewer! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  23. I hope we as Melbourne supporters never forget Brayden Maynard's dog act! Should be booed forever! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  24. Agreed! Sack him now! Disgusting Collingwood bias! I want Michael Christian's head on a [censored] plate! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
  25. All I will say about Brayden "the thug" Maynard is that if he ever crossed the road in front of me and I was driving my car then I might "accidentally" slip my foot onto the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. Whoops! Sorry! Just an accident! 😇
