  1. Umps obviously decided the tigers should win for Tommy. 8 frees in the first half, 4 and a 50m penalty paid in the first 5 minutes...
  2. I don't think Bailey sucked big time, I think he did a reasonable job, without being outstanding. Neeld did though. But I couldn't see an article like this one by Jude Bolton, being written about Dean or Mark in their playing days. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/interchange/kirk-an-inspirational-leader-who-got-the-best-from-himself-and-his-swans-20100603-x70e.html
  3. agree completely, there are plenty more qualified people we should be looking at I'd think. Of the current assistants, Brett Kirk seems the obvious choice at the moment, and I'd prefer him over Ling. Midfield coach of Fremantle, worked under Lyon, played under Roos, was universally regarded as a great leader as a player.
  4. another one here. I've been telling people all week how apathy has taken over, and that i've lost interest in the game in general...
  5. well, this is what happened in the 2nd half from what I saw, we switched Dunn forward, and Pedersen played down back... not that the game had my full attention after half time...
  6. Travis Tuck has got his life back on track according to his SANFL coach, and definitely up to the standard it would seem. Would we look at him? Could give us even more midfield depth. Travis Tuck deserves second AFL chance
  7. It's not surprising to see some of these guys leave, the Casey team this year was crowded out by a lot of AFL players, would make it difficult to create a team feeling I would think.
  8. Bernie did an interview on triple m Adelaide today. Great listening, and he speaks well. http://www.triplem.com.au/adelaide/sport/afl/news/2013/10/bernie-vince-off-to-melbourne/ It is clear the regard he's held by crows fans is very high. Sando perhaps not so much.
  9. I'd be looking at Nahas for the small forward role. Or is he too similar to Byrnes?
  10. Didn't realise he was playing so injured last season. Explains a lot because he started really well but then his form dropped off. Get him fit and I think he will really compliment Mitch and Jesse really well.
  11. So in his presser after being appointed, Bomber Thompson said he and Neil Craig will be focusing on training up Simon Goodwin to be a senior coach. Said that he had all the skills, and that they've promised to really develop him. Could be an option in 12 months time if we don't find anyone now.
  12. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/sewell-on-the-market-20131007-2v4e3.html would come cheap apparently, wonder if we can trade Fergie for him still?
  13. Andy Maher on SEN just said an impeccable, even better than impeccable Melbourne source says he has signed, and that it may be announced today.
  14. What's the reason to do this? Did Neil Mitchell ask him? Having read the lyrics, i think it should be recited by the other Ron barassi from a band called TISM
  15. who would've thought, Greg Denham talking up the Demons!
  16. If you head to the top level you can sit on the flanks at the punt road end in general admission. If that's too high up, you'll probably want to book seats.
  17. Early on it was thought the eagles made a mistake taking Masten, as he struggled early in his career, while Morton was doing well from day one. Oh how things changed.
  18. Fitzy's output has been great, really looks comfortable at the level. Really wrapped to see him do well against a good side in Sydney today. Given our forward stocks now though, we will probably have to look at trading him with Hogan in next year. To the Dogs perhaps, for their 2nd round pick? If everyone is fit, he's our 5th choice key forward.
  19. And why would buddy go to GWS if hawthorn can match the offer? He'd stay at hawthorn if that were the case... He will get some extra from the AFL, but the contract itself would have to be much bigger for him to leave I would think...
  20. Don Argus for president anyone? He's definitely got the time now. Or it could be that bloke from IOOF...
  21. Just a comment on Roos and chocko, when they had success look who the assistants were. At port there was Hardwick, Clarkson, Bailey. At Sydney there was Lyon and Longmire. I'm not saying they can't coach, and I would be wrapped if they got Roos, I just hope the records of these two reflect their own abilities, and not those of the team they had working for them.
  22. Move Strauss to a wing, as he was drafted, he's not a defender. Plus I'd much rather him hitting blokes on the chest with an inside 50 rather than a rebound 50. As for Mitch, all the best. If he and Terlich can be our running options out of defense we will have a very settled backline.
  23. I agree, I also saw a bit of it early against freo before they started smashing us. He seems to have learnt some appetite and attack at the contest. Hopefully he can learn to sustain it.
  24. That would be Brad Miller in the 2006 semi final that we lost against Fremantle. That was Brad's best game for the club. As for Dawes, he as Clark did last year, exceeded my expectations. I thought he would play a good role for us, but he's looking very dangerous, more of a threat than I ever considered him at Collingwood. With Clark and Hogan next to him, we will have a great forward line, but we need to get the midfield right.
  25. I have a feeling that Mark might have made a great coach 20 years ago, but it is a different generation coming through at the moment, and while there are examples where he seems to have gotten through to the players (jones, garland, Howe, Dunn) there are lots of those that he hasn't. As coach, you need to be able to get through to everyone.
