Nope. Papley + later first rounder for 3. If Kelly is worth 2 top 10’s Langdon is worth about 22 Papley is closer to Langdon than Kelly
-
Think on it this way. Would you trade Frost for Langdon? That (and moving about 9 places in the 2nd round) is what we are doing.
-
Seen touring Brisvagas facilities. Certainly investigating his options...
-
Crazy talk, indeed. Would happen if they really wanted someone and didnt think their pick (which will probably slide at least one place) would get them. Who knows? No one else appears to have enough value to split the pick, these guys might just, and Dodoro is not known for rationality...

Maybe it was a case of too many cooks? Rawlings is definitely a loss. Richo replaces Macca, Jennings - looked like that was not the best fit with Goody from some of the box footage during the year. So maybe tightening all this up will give us better *connection*???

Terry Wallace's Analysis of the Dees List
buck_nekkid replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is hard to know about this stuff. We have been into Langdon and Elliott all year, but who knew? You only hear the ones that get leaked, or are in the mix. Who said we didnt approach Lynch? Moore? Allir ALLir etc? We could be into 100 players. We also have to look from a position that if we had most of the players on the park this year, and somewhere near their best, then the list analysis would be different. We came 17th. Yep, 17th. We got the 17th best list in 2019. -
Got a head like a smashed bag of twisties.

I’m surprised that something that smells so much like A rs e hole (and starts with ‘D’) got through the filters here...but I know what you mean! He certainly has an overblown sense of worth....

Essendon could end up with 5 and 9, for Daniher (9 in from Papley to Carlton). That would be the perfect pair to split the pick on.
-
All the commentators seem to forget that our best young player is PETTY, and it is him that is perfectly placed to be the tall defender that will (easily) replace frosted nuts.
-
Serous question: if frosty balls was on someone else’s list, would you want us to pay ‘overs’ to get him to the club? Does he improve the list compared to not having him (and having someone else like petty step up into that role)?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
buck_nekkid replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep. Invite him to train with the rookie list or supplemental addition list as a carrot. If he shows enough - better than others we could get - then sign him up! -
Neither is a pick 3 candidate. It would need to be player plus their first rounder plus steak knives to even get close. Hopefully we are seeing teams that are desperate for currency, and we can leverage that to our advantage. An old bidding war for pick 3...

This has all gone quiet, hasn’t it? The Suns have got one zillion new picks, and there is a queue of players linked to going there. Think Stretch would be a low priority for them. Will be interesting to see what happens over the off season - maybe do a Jetta, get rookied, work his backside off and become a valuable player.

May have been the other way round. His complete refusal to follow team rules was so clear that May told him off. Then he got all stroppy about it. Would have been a signal to the coaches box that it was Frosty before team rules. Not a good look. Not when the player who wins best young player at the Bluey is his immediate replacement. He would know at MFC he is third in line, and has limited upside. Can’t really play any other position. At the hawks, he is a potential cover and replacement for Frawley, and allows Sicily to go back to being an intercept rather than a man on man defender. Lets get value from the trade (third rounder, second if we are lucky) and move on quickly. Frosty has been absolutely spitted on this site for years, had a few good games when we had no one else, and now its time to go. Thanks and farewell. May you bring your intense lack of team first and desire to be the roadrunner to stuff up every time you play us in future.

Just reported on 7 he has requested a trade to Dorkthorn

Thinking about players like Danger or Dusty, these are big bodied midfielders that have a strong capability to find and deliver the ball through the middle, go forward and take a mark and kick goals, and also have a bit of an X factor. From our list, Trac is really the only ‘guy’ that can play this role. No one else fits the bill, and he has the capacity to stretch up to be that player. This is an absolutely matchwinning role, and wee have seen what Dusty or Danger (even a Cripps) can deliver. As part of a key midfield group of Oliver, Harmes, Viney and Trac, each has a different set of skills. I hope that in 2020 they get their setups better organised to utilise these skills to better advantage, and Trac grows into ‘our Dusty’.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
buck_nekkid replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
The one thing Tomlinson does is take a contested mark on the outlet from the d50. We were so predictable with Max the only target in 19. As a guy who can take that mark and hit up a player (hopefully changing lanes), able to pinch hit in the ruck and block their outlets from our D50, he will be very valuable for us. It is really a role that we don’t have at the moment, and he may even act as a high HF at times able to mark and deliver into 50. Our marking through this part of the ground has been a real deficit, so it make huge sense we should go after this type of player, and better that he is a good clubman, and has a solid tank. Perhaps rather than look at what he didn’t bring to GWS, have a look at what he can specifically add to MFC? -
I think there are now clear signs - the others all just re-signed have some (potential) upside that maybe Billy and JKH simply dont in the club’s eyes, and the chance to shop them around might be best for both. If not, they might be late delistings before list lodgement. Surprised we signed so many. The club must truly believe 2019 was an aberration. If not, there should have been blood on the floor.
-
Brayshaw -The guy came third in the Brownlow last year, had a rough year this year. Value would be a first rounder minimum. They might want him, but I think that would be separate to the Langdon deal. It might be Langdon for 21 might be the first trade made - it looks fairly open and shut.
-
Don’t forget Sparrow, who started well in this past season until injured. He is another midfielder that can add to the team. I do potentially like the idea of Chandler. Would we hope that perhaps even Spargo could go through there as well????
-
It is difficult to see a team being able to come up with enough to justify splitting pick 2. They may be able to come up with enough to split pick 3. GWS now are compromised by their high finish - the mid-teen pick is approaching pick 20 with academy selections, F/S opportunities. So is not much better than a second rounder. They (or someone else) is going to have to go hard to have enough currency. It could be someone like Geelong after they finish dealing trading Kelly. GCS could also be a factor with Martin on the way to the blues - if they dont get pick 2, then maybe they trade up to it to ensure they get the dream pair of Rowell and Anderson to stay together? The only other option is for future picks, but this has a risk based in unknown ladder position.

Caleb Serong (Drafted by Fremantle)
buck_nekkid replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Where does that GWS Green kid fit in? Wasn’t he top 5 or something, and the reason they were keen to get the high pick prior to his selection? -
I think this touches on one of our biggest issues. We were completely devoid of a functioning system, or the players to play it. We saw a high D press, then a sweeper, then a zone, then a man off man (stand 25m away from your nominated player and point at something when he marks uncontested). From our midfield all the way back our defense was horrible, and we truly had no consistent system, or the personnel to execute it. if we get the key players back in 2020, and a defined defensive system, is there room for Frosty mcTurnover? Hmm, not sure....
