  1. Hope for those games to be upsets!
  2. If Max doesnt get up, the next #1ruck on the list is Daw, not Weids. He would be next in for that role. Suspect max will be OK and the scan is precautionary only.
  3. Interesting all the MFCSS emerging. I reckon we have not been at our best, but have got games out to 4 goals and shut up shop. Our defense has been good, but our midfield and forward 50 pressure has been down as teams have tried different ways of going fast/slow/around our setup. Our f50 connection has been poor at times, and our position for goal kicking along with crap execution have led to inaccurate shots on goal. Think we cover king and Higgins (petty and hunt), midfield too strong, Hill to get smashed by Angus if he blocks for King. Max and Dogga to outpoint Marshall and Ryder. We may need to rev he engine a bit harder today, but no reason we can’t win. Dees by 32.
  4. 1:30 is almost 1/4 time! 1:10 start!
  5. All clubs should be interested. As Jake Blues asks “how much for da little girl?”
  6. Thanks, it would be interesting to know which measures the club uses, and how we compare acros the comp…
  7. In another thread Watson 11 quoted a stat that we are 16th in tackles for the year. From your data, any individuals standing out in changes from 21, or have other teams just gone past us?
  8. Interesting stat re tackles. Last year we were the hunters, this year the hunted? Teams have tried to go around us and we seem to like creating a contest and clearance, but tackling should be one of our KPIs!
  9. In the end, the clubs have little power. If he wants to go, then he will. His value at the trade table will be immense, so I can foresee a situation where he signs to RFA or FA, and then goes for the huge bucks. He should have 2 or 3 flags by then. How many first rounders in trade is he worth given Cameron was about 3?
  10. Thanks Luci. This relies on Hill being free to go, and there being enough time for him to impact the contest. If we slow ball movement, then there is no way Hill gets a free run and can be ‘escorted’ to the contest. It also means Hills opponent is free for fast outlet. We use a second tall to come across (like petty) to impact the contest where we can, and have a great result in minimising inside 50 marks for opposition teams. Hills tactic is now in the open so expect scrutiny, umpires to watch for it and hopefully an accidental elbow in the head from Maysie if he gets in the way….
  11. Great listen as usual gents. for the covid discussion at the end of the podcast, consider that the AFL have to guarantee a safe workplace, so restrictions on players have to be equitable across states but also minimise the risk of a player catching covid at ‘work’. This means having a rigorous process to exclude potential cases to keep the workplace with lower risk.
  12. Our game will be won: in the contest and post clearance work two way running meters gained per midfield possession. (They love going nowhere from clearance) defensive system stopping corridor use, driving turnover locking it in forward half and blocking exits intercept marking in back 75m they seem to be emotional team - stop the fast start, grind them down and we will run past them.
  13. System or soldiers? Today we will learn a lot about how deep we run with both. Dees by 36.
  14. The manic attack style leads to a lot of turnovers that we can rebound from. We have more than one gear and set up behind the ball well. If we are on, they may get a few sneaky Joe the Goose’s, but their manic style has to be precise or we will smash them in the loose ground ball and intercept. They may challenge, but Sydney showed that you can knock the confidence out of them pretty quick. Win Q1 and Q3 as usual and it is done.
  15. Club operates re AFL ‘health and Safety’ protocols, not one state’s rules. Assume these still have close contact iso provisions to meet the toughest standard (WA). Don’t know if people are testing positive or just ‘close contacts’ under their rules? Did people notice the players greeting and touching fans after the match on ANZAC eve? Wonder if this was the source of infection?
  16. Make no mistake, we thrashed them in all ways but on the scoreboard. Richmond tried to stop our two key scoring avenues by flooding back and trying to avoid half back intercepts from which we do fast rebounds. They could hardly take a forward half mark and had little time in forward half after half time. They had a couple of goals from Joel Smith blunders (not staying accountable on Riewoldt is the biggest one), and a few fast breaks, but just could not break us down. We seemed to be about 5% off skill wise all over the park in the first half, and maybe some of this was tiger pressure, but I think it was just us. We have such high expectations of the team and the players that the ‘old ways’ now look bad - and they were. We were too sloppy by hand and foot early. Kicking for goal was atrocious. Too many easy shots missed, kicks taken as poor options, not lowering the eyes. Vlaustin know we were going to bomb it to the fat side pocket and simply sat there are had a feast. Uncontested intercept after uncontested intercept. ANB had a stinker - his early disposal and goal kicking were well below par. Doggo had a quiet one. Kozzie did well at defensive things but did not get the rewards in attack. Played well as a link on the Lingers wing at times. Tigers had no answer. They tried to break us down rather than play their system, and it showed. Not one for the replay collection, but bank the four points and move on. Go dees.
  17. Max gets a clip,. And then a [censored] reversal. These umps are appalling
  18. I think Jordon makes was , Angus moves back to the wing and lever comes in. tough to call which way the forward three into two race will play out…
  19. Our setup behind the ball was really good most of the night. major concern is max in the ruck- seems to get picked clean by oppo teams too regularly. i can see Jordon out, brayers back to the wing, lever in. This will allow the backline to be rewarded and space made for lever. Tagging Trac when he was a bit off might look like a gold strategy, but when he is on I don’t think it’s effective. McGrath went to Oliver later and took a bath. May beaten by Peter , but fast entry caused by midfield and half forward lack of pressure. He did some nice things in between. great to see Weids stick marks and lead strongly. Will be hard to displace after that effort.
  20. Demons fans plus ferals. I think about 50k?
  21. Keyhole type surgery, expect him to be mobile day 1, weight bearing day 2. Prob a week to get back to full running and another 2 to get back fitness. Guess 3-4 weeks
  22. When the siren sounds to start the match, we go back to 0-0. All bets are off. Cant walk around like we are still ‘the premiers’. Gotta put it all behind us and switch to beast mode.
  23. Demons by 34 points. Close to half time, then we slip away. No 50 m penalties for upsetting the delicate sensibilities of the larvae (cant say maggot any more), that point was made in the preseason.
  24. After listening to ‘sound the alarm’, he was not great in his post match. At least we know they value uncontested marks…..
