Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
He did some good work getting balls to the ground earlier (no stats), and once they allowed him to lead instead of bombing it on his head he became far more dangerous.

Farewell Sam Weideman
I only wish him well. Did ok on a very big stage. Good luck to him.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
Grundy is ok in the ruck and in front of the ball. His defensive skills are poor, dropping off the main too easily in the the back half - made Bombers rucks look like gods and did the same in D against tigers. He also doesnât mark well enough. I wouldnât be dropping him, but be getting him to work on the defensive side of his game.

That aged well. Pies lifted, Bombers crumbled.

NON-MFC: Rd 06 2023
Makes last week look not too badâŠ. Bombers have worked out the pies - pressure pressure pressure, no corridor opportunities. Have to be able to go HARD FOR 4 QTRS to beat either of these teams.

PODCAST: Judd McVee Interview
I would be interested to hear the feedback he got from the club at the end of last season, and how/what steps he took that delivered him a senior debut this year. Also, what does he focus on in preparation for each game? Is he a stress merchant, a relaxed prepper or something else as he preps for games?

PODCAST: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It seems we have a number of specific defensive roles, including that of FB and intercepting back (may, Lever). Tommo did OK when he took Mays role earlier in the year, but panicked when he had to play Leverâs intercept role. If not him (obviously) then who do we have as a Lever mark 2 for when the glass ankle strikes again?

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Wow. It was obvious where this was going 30 seconds in. zDid they think they could opine this one in? The lack of effort in the contest was clear from the start. Some real stinkers today - Tommo was a real negative standout today. TMac low value, nibbler off, Spargo low value and Grundy was shaded. Hats off to: Petracca, Viney, JVR, McVee, Petty late and Oliver 2nd half. Struggle street - the rest.. Mays worst game for the club.

Stats Files - 2023
We were flogged by the lions so the stats of the other games are impacted by this âoutlierâ over only 4 rounds. We are also better at post clearance contest winning (if the oppo clear it, they do so under pressure and the receiver is also under pressure). So maybe it isnt the key stat for us?

PODCAST: Rd 03 vs Sydney
Given the West Coast have been smashed by injuries, would the panel make any specific changes to play on this, or take best available rewarding performance? i think it is a question of philosophy, are we looking at the bigger picture and rotating players, or looking for a win week by week? Goodys language on this is not clearâŠ.

How long can they keep that style up for? Itâs a long season, and kamikaze football looks all conqueringâŠ.for now. Collingwood have sore Cox and a shafted cam (Eron). Teams need to pressure about 4 players, and make the backs accountable. The rest is a high wire act. hopefully system beats mayhem on Charlieâs day.

NON-MFC: Rd 03 2023
Wow. Both these squads have massive issues. Tough game, that Garcia gave away multiple 50s. Jamarra and Naughton a good pair up forward. Daniher and Lobb both useless in their own special ways.

PODCAST: Selwyn Griffith Interview
Well done on a thoughtful, respectful and open interview. I love how âloadingâ got (sort of) confirmed in terms of training blocks! Very interesting, and my congratulations on getting both access and a reasonable level of engagement (not just cookie cutter answers) that bring us all value.
