PODCAST: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
We played a strong defensive unit and managed to win. interested in your thoughts on the style change this week- it looked like we started with manic running and handball. Saints broke this down and we began to shift tempo using more kicks and control. Is this part of us practicing for finals? max and reg (Grundy)? Are we getting enough out of this? i think Schache comes in this week. cheers, gents. Look forward to the poddy as usual.

POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs St Kilda
My view from at the ground - i might need to watch the replay to see what the couch peloton saw - was a tough game against a defensive focused team. The saints always were positioning themselves defensively of the contest to outnumber any ball movement opportunities. Marshall smashed our rucks = i have to ask, what’s up with Max? Hardly holds a mark and is rarely threatening. He marks and we look so much better. Really worry that the whole ‘tap bros’ is not paying dividends yet. May was outstanding. The backline held up well. The saints started with incredible pressure and it took us 1/2 the first quarter to adjust to this. It looked like we were really trying to take the game on rather than control the tempo, and many times it just did not come off. More experiments perhaps? Nibbler v good early. Kosi - not a shadow on his normal self Trac - mainly forward tonight, which meant it was Viney and the kids vs the Saints midfield. JJ did really well, and I think Woey Jnr did enough to hold his spot. Shame about the goal miss… BBB - very busy and added value to the team. Melk did OK, might make way for JVR?? We took the 4 points in a tough encounter. I will watch the TV replay and see what I missed. A good result after the tou8gh slog of the last 4 weeks. go Dees!

After the game Leppitsch spoke about the fatigue of the players being a big part of the last quarter fade out. @binman, I think this supports your oft-maligned theory that teams Load during the mid part of the year. He also spoke about th e8 day break in front of them allowing them to freshen up. BTW - Leppitsch looks like a cartoon character, maybe from that Disney elemental movie…

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Interesting in the video reveal of Taj’s debut, OOze is showing footage and asking ‘could you make that kick’? Interesting because perhaps they are looking at how they move the ball inside 50, and that accurate kicks are going to be the order of the day (to leading players). Or is that too much to hope for?

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
WIll be interesting to see our f50 set up. Petty can swing there. jack or Trac could also set up there. Woey to play high half forward and to act as second winger. Think we are a 25% better talent pool than them, especially with their outs. Need to smash them early and ensure both teams get the script. Proper kicking - 35 point win, Shizen kicking - 4 point win.

I just switched over and my first visceral reaction was how much I dislike this individual.

What They Are Saying at Linton St
What do you call a team that looks really promising and delivers manure? Either the Saints or the Demons. This could be a comedy classic….

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
An accurate description of the day. We would always be entering a completely clogged arc because the ball would be turned over no further than the wing (rarely further forward for them). Perhaps we need to add a dimension to this aspect of our game = switch, draw them out? Kicking to massive contests means the shot is under pressure - consider if Trac had no pressure and more time. Whether we were rushed, or just rushed, didn’t matter. That crowded f50 means that our good work to get the turnover is unrewarded.

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
Honestly, that was disgusting. we won almost every stat but could n’t win the game. inside our f50 is a disaster. Play in FRONT. Lead at the kicker! just pathetic. I have given them so much positive reflection even in losses. But not today, simply not good enough. Pass marks to Viney, May, lever ANB. Brown did. well early. max is the barometer of the team. If he plays well, we do ok. pickett needs to stop being a sheepdog and return to being a German shepherd. twice we played in front in the 50, Melk and kossy marked and foaled. Every other attempt we were behind, outnumbered and beaten. We are a rabble and we will make up the numbers unless we get some deep cultural and structural issues sorted. sheesh.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
Last year,as I recall, Paddy O’Dangerfield was injured, then kept out of the competition for a few weeks doing a mini preseason to get in him in outstanding form for the later rounds. This seems to be where Clarry is headed - hitting fitness and speed targets (assume KMs as well) to then come back in Cherry Ripe. If it was round 20, I reckon he would be coming back in at 80% and play into the finals. We are doing OK (I think top 4 isn’t too bad, is it?) so knowing we can build Oliver into his very best form and fitness is really a luxury. Her has no chance at any individual honours being out for so long, so what is a few extra weeks to him???

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
A good first 3 quarters where the game was pretty even. In the last we pushed too high and didnt have the legs to run back. Post-bye/loading impact? Conditions set the tone, and made it even more fatiguing, who was the [censored] from Geelong the pushed an obviously injured Viney back to the ground early on? We were outmarked in the last, and they just kept forward speed on the ball. Kicking off the ground and getting it moving fast at all costs. We were out of gas. Some players had very average contributions. Must be a few spots in the side now open if there is anyone in the twos who can step up.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs Geelong
I was explaining to Frau Nekkid that she is welcome to join me on the couch for the TV coverage (including any half time jollies), on elf the rare games I will watch from home. I was explaining to her that GMHBA stadium is unfit to hold cattle, let alone an AFL game. Basically chop a third off one side of the ground because there is a road there, and pretend it is up to standard. Frau N will barrack for Maxxi (her favourite) and will sing the song if we win. Otherwise she will take off to less touchy freely parts of the chateau.

PREGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Perhaps it has something to do with how players have responded to (or been able to complete) increased workloads during this period? Bowey would not have been able to do anything so might be on a program as we speak, same for Oliver. Maybe Tommo hasn’t pulled up as he might have needed to to get in the squad, but Petty has had the time to put in the Kms, and is therefore a better option to cover Cameron????

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
There is something in the rules that only 2 bids can be matched in the first round, i understand GCS have 3 such players likely to be first rounders this year, so can only match 2 if that happens.
