TRAINING: Monday 11th March 2024
Once you start hard running in-season I would think that is still ‘loading’ - getting hard kms into legs that may have short term consequences but long term benefits. not sure why it couldn’t have been completed before the season proper…

NON-MFC: Opening Round
Shows what happens when sides kick to open players with some skill. We should learn (have learnings) by watching these two teams play a game that is so unlike our own….

POSTGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
It felt like we put ourselves under pressure. I was waiting for us to get with the program and realise we had more time than we thought we did. Unfortunately that fumbling simply didnt clean up. Forward work was unrewarded, and lacked any concept until Frittata led up the guts into space. A lot to like in Howes, Windsor. Many older heads were not in it the way they needed to be. Being smashed at the contest and Max getting Dacked by the man bun should have been embarrassing enough to drive some changes, but it looked like in the last they were standing back and the queue was already in the rack.

If we lose tonight, I will think that...

GAMEDAY: Opening Round vs Sydney
The model is based upon all the games played so far this year for premiership points! today is dragging like a worm ridden dogs butt on the carpet. storyline’s I don’t want to see: grundy goes forward and kicks 4 JJ shines for bog. the one I do want to see: demons by 25, in a canter.

2024 Experts Predictions
All the experts can suck balls. All leaping off. If anything, we are better than last year. Not all teams can say that.

PODCAST: 2024 Season Preview
I am bullish about us this season. Top 4 ( us, giants, bears and pies). Suspect we turn 5:1 at the bye. Will love spending many hours with you across the season. Who will be the biggest improver? How much will TMAC and BBB contribute? Who is your biggest ‘smokey’ to be a regular (cf. last year).

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Carlton
All very nice for a February kick and giggle. ANB took a long time to get up to speed, Schache monstered in the ruck, Tommo struggles 1 on 1, May looks like he has no flexibility through his trunk (body, not proboscis). Max just dominates. Midfield setup worked, flatter kicks to target worked nicely, as did ball movement through the corridor. No injuries and some kids having a run = big win.

Forgotten Star Confident He Can Bounce Back
The guy is doing his best to get back in the ones. I wish him all the best. He is a premiership winning forward, and if he does get his body right he could be a highly valuable addition to the fwd line. He would get the first or 2nd best defender, and still has inspector gadget marking arms that draw free kicks. at worst, he helps our other forwards to be better.

Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
At least we got ‘one hit”…. Many other teams would kill to get a sniff of that….

From the ashes rises the strongest…
Ok, hows about “a desire by all the media to pile on and drool at any sign of failure, and ignore good stuff we do”. Like Goody saving a life in the surf, etc. that clearer? Sorry toi trigger you re work.

From the ashes rises the strongest…
Reading all of the hand wringing about the Demons as we head into 2024 is enough to make me spew. Honestly, can we be as big a basket case as we are being reported as? The demons have huge challenges and massive messaging headwinds just to get to the starting line. Today I got contacted about the Demon draw raffle - I’m in immediately. I might break my oath to never bet on sport and choose dees for top 4, GF and premiers. When you put coal under pressure you make diamonds. We are under pressure now but I remain all in. C’mon Dees, stick it up em all and take the flag!

Devils…any problem being too close to demons???

NON-MFC: Match SIMs
Does that put our game vs tiggers into perspective, or what?????

PREGAME: Practice Match vs Carlton
Interesting that we rolled 2 complete midfields, with extras, on Sunday. Trac, Viney and sparrow (add in ANB and kozzie), then Salo, Oliver and (brayshaw*) (with Riv to pinch through there). Both would be competitive in the afl. Perhaps we will rollout two elite groups where the others rest/ take on alternate roles throughout games. Would be unique in approach.

PODCAST: Match SIM vs Richmond
Welcome back Demonland podcast. handwringers see the 9-10 goal run. Sunshiners see the first 5 goals in a row. Where do you sit on the handwringer - sunshiner scale? What did you LIKE from what you saw? Did you recognise any new touches from the coaching changes Undertaken in the off season?

POSTGAME: Match SIM vs Richmond
If you stopped the game after 20 mins we would be revelling in the glory of it all. We gave up 9 or 10 goals in a row to put ourselves in the downward dog position. Liked that Max did only a half, we had a whole lot of new faces halving a crack, and we were rusty across the board. If we did better on the two way running and defended inside the 50 better, ot would have looked. Very different. Seemed p1 was about our transition, then we tried a few things. Oliver and Salem a class above in the late periods. Still glass half full.

Forward Line & Backup Ruck Issues Going into 2024 and beyond ...
There is so much hand wringing and hope of failure for us in the media. A player might be having loads managed or precautions taken, and they become the most important player on our list and ready for an amputation. We might be good enough as we are, with a forward line of JVR, frittata, Kosi and McAdam, with Petracca going forward has a lot to like. Petty or McDonald will be nice when ready and will be useful. We also have disco and Adam’s to offer more depth down back, and as we saw with McVee last year, players may emerge. My trousers have no nasty marks in them yet. Let’s see how we shape up in the praccy games and the first 6 rounds. I think the work on transition and delivery into f50 will be more important. summary: glass half full for now…
