PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
This year we seem determined to roll back to defend from 80 m back. If we get it before then, then we move it forward, otherwise we are not too upset with sides moving it down to the top of the centre square. From there, our defence has been enormous, soaking up a high number of oppo entries this year. I suppose our aim is to sling shot from here forward into a more open forward line and increase conversion of our own inside 50s. Geelong are good at working it fast between the arcs, which means for us to win on Saturday, we need to: create more contests as they move the ball. Post clearance possies will be important dominate the d50 be efficient going forward lots and lots of pressure and 2 way running. If we do this, I am not scared of the cats. Otherwise we are like a hooker at a bucks nightâŠ

NON-MFC: Round 07
The grand old Duke of York said it best: âwhen youâre up, youâre up. When youâre down, youâre down. When you are only 1/2 way up you are neither up nor downâ. long season, strange schedules. All teams will have mares, and look awful. hope we are setting ourselves for the next twoâŠ.

Best thing? Not hearing either of their putrid theme songs.

PODCAST: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Thank the demon for our defence. Kept the tiggers to 42 points when we couldnât hit a target to save ourselves. Our game really starts and finishes here. questions for the podcast: was that the worst half of football you have seen us play since the âdark daysâ? how did you see Pettyâs game? was that fatigue driven? (Not goodyâs presser answer re long breaks) thanks again!

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
If you flush the first half, the second half involved more of the usual suspects playing the way they should have. Petty is an interesting watch, so inaccurate in front of goal. BBB looked like he couldnât kick over a jam tin at Casey. TMac was an absolute disaster in the first half, but turned it around in the 2nd. Goody said in his presser we were using the longer breaks for increased training (the dreaded âLâ word!). For the cats game, we need to be cleaner going forward and continue to be absolute misers down back. Will be a real litmus test for usâŠ

PODCAST: Rd 05 vs Brisbane
So if we have been developing a red and blue-print, would the team like to consider the blue and red-print? (that is, is there a blueprint for how to beat the Dees based upon what you have seen so far)? Was the loss situational, or systematic? What do we need to do to overcome these losses becoming more common?

Stats Files - 2024
The numbers tell the tale. Killed in clearance leading to massive time in forward half discrepancy. Shark inside to outside to i 50 kick and repeat. Lack of pressure, tackles and chase, no groundball skills. So many players off the boil. Needs to be addressed before it sets the âhow to beat the demonsâ blueprint. Also, was that the worst umpiring you have seen in a long time???

The pies looked linke they go the rub of the green with the frees, but at least they put some effort in. Lions were slow, stationary and putrid.

Laurie Extends for 2 More Years
He is a Melbourne player and he has my support. He may be battling for a spot in the firsts according to our system and needs, but the FD obviously see enough value in Bill to invest in two years. Any less would be an insult, any more would probably be too much for where he is at right now. The next two seasons he will either rise to the challenge, or will be a bit player on our list.

TRAINING: Monday 11th March 2024
Once you start hard running in-season I would think that is still âloadingâ - getting hard kms into legs that may have short term consequences but long term benefits. not sure why it couldnât have been completed before the season properâŠ

NON-MFC: Opening Round
Shows what happens when sides kick to open players with some skill. We should learn (have learnings) by watching these two teams play a game that is so unlike our ownâŠ.

POSTGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
It felt like we put ourselves under pressure. I was waiting for us to get with the program and realise we had more time than we thought we did. Unfortunately that fumbling simply didnt clean up. Forward work was unrewarded, and lacked any concept until Frittata led up the guts into space. A lot to like in Howes, Windsor. Many older heads were not in it the way they needed to be. Being smashed at the contest and Max getting Dacked by the man bun should have been embarrassing enough to drive some changes, but it looked like in the last they were standing back and the queue was already in the rack.
