  1. Given that #13 is unlikely to make an early contribution to our performance, I wondered about a team built out of ‘depth’. Take out all of the ‘A’ listers and what have we got? How would this team fare? FB: Bowey, Adams, hore HB Rivers, Turner, McVee C Woewodin, Sparrow, Howes HF Billing’s JVR McAdam FF chandler, Petty, sestan foll: Verrall, Laurie, Windsor i/c ; Fullerton , moniz wakefield, tholstrup, schache. To me it looks like it has real potential, a few of the players might be underdone at this stage, but it is a really good side. I reckon it would not be the worst team going around, and shows the depth that we have if you tale our all of the big names. Start adding back: max, Trac, Viney, may, lever, lingers,ANB,Pickett, etc etc and see how good the team can be.
  2. Simply outstanding. Thanks so much Six.
  3. @beelzebub, good points. We have made 2 significant changes that should help, McQualter in as clearance coach, and Chappy as defensive and Transition coach. Both are going to make a difference. I can also see elite ball users being favoured. My hope is you will see the manic whole team defence with manic whole team attack!
  4. We often see him taking speccies (or attempting to). I think this entirely in the game plan- if no other tall is contesting, at least halve the contest. He seems to jump over big guys and him halving the contest is the best value option in that moment. Allowing the oppo to mark uncontested (waiting down for the crumbs) is the worst outcome of all.
  5. Super job by six. Poor effort by the club. Thx to those who venture out. I was going to do a tour on Monday, but it is no longer at Gosch’s. A thought= maybe we will see a shift to more elite ball users to get out contested + transition concept going. Would mean the likes of Laurie, Sestan, McAdam etc will be more prized. With Clarry on a break it opens the path for sparrow and Gus in the guts. Also, BBB, TMAc and Tommo almost look like new recruits! Certainly moving better than last year!
  6. We would want to be 5 of 6 at the first bye, I reckon.
  7. Undergoing a different type of ‘rehab’.. Smith??
  8. I think we are still top 4 material, hopefully not going to waste the double chance again. if you were rating players , and then coaches, I would be interested to get your scorecards for them in 2023: biggest contributors biggest improvers biggest let-down most surprising match by a player (good or bad). and how did you view the coaching panel in terms of performance?
  9. I can see academy changing but less so father/son. It is the ‘romantic’ part of a sterile corporate dish lick. Might adjust discount, pre listing or other vehicles, but this runs way too deep to remove. Academy rules are geared to make sure the afl has a saleable product at rights time. Nothing fair about it.
  10. Welcome back! You do a wonderful job catching the ‘moments’.
  11. Watch out, premiership forward Billy Frampton is ready to step up!
  12. Might also come in handy taking a few boys under his wing as a mentor. His training standards have always been top class, and (dare i say it) he can punch above his weight….
  13. Well done all, with special thanks to @WalkingCivilWar. Your convo with Clarry speaks for us all.
  14. I have yet to think my way through how we will go next year. A lot has happened to the game style overall in the AFL. How we create a method that does the Demon DNA but steps into the new breakneck process, and our ability to go between the two, will say a lot about our outcome. Having some forwards there regularly could also help…. top 4 for mine.
  15. Training this Monday, is it at Goshes or snakey Casey?
  16. What’s his thoughts on the academy bidding process? is it ‘broken’? How would he see it being used in a fair way to all? (Ref Mac Andrew, J-UH, 4 academy picks to GCS).
  17. OF COURSE WE GET A POOR GRADE. And of course Collingwood get a top mark. Kick us whilst we are down - we got exactly who we wanted, and didnt pull any ‘surprises’. If that is a C- then good enough for me. We wont know for a few year who is any good or is a bust.
  18. Dragging like a dogs butt on the carpet…

Would need something else back, too. Like their 2nd rounder so we can fill our roster.

Maybe Reid, Brown f/s, upgrade Turner and Andrew as b rookie?
  21. If it was fly it would be front page of everything. No one wants to roll out a positive story about Goody or the Dees atm. Doom and gloom or nothing. Well done on doing a great deed to Goody. I’m sure he wasn’t thinking of the media response whilst he was doing his best to help this poor guy.
  22. I think I’ll wait until Round 6 of the fix-ture. That should give us a sense of where we and everyone else is at. Set expectations from there. i want us to win the flag. Minimum is top 4 plus at least 1 final win.
