Interesting that Goody focused on “pressuring the ball” as a key reason these guys all got selected. This is where both Carlton and Hawks looked vulnerable - as soon as pressure on the ball and the player went up, Tiggers and Bombers both shut their opponents down. This may be the new way we win. Lots of pressure and 2 way running required!

this must be a record - 6 debutants in an existing side in R1. This speaks to the idea of change in the club, faith shown in the recruits and a chance for us to be very different than last year. it comes with risk, but having 1/4 of the squad new, having Ollie and Trac back, is exciting stuff. good luck to all the newbies and Go DEES!

I thought the phases were in front of the ball, behind the ball, and in the contest. That is, forwards, defence and midfield. Last year we were poor in each of these, so a 5% improvement in any/each area could add significantly to our overall performance.
