    Chin vote is in!
  3. What I liked: the first quarter the comeback effort we are still in it with the future entirely in our hands What I disliked 2.5 quarters of poor 2 way running and efforts the weather (it was Arctic there!) 0-8 centre clearances the umpiring Losing We have lost out on playing finals by 0.5% one year not long ago. results are all over the place, and we are still in it. We are not our old ruthless selves and cant string 4 quarters together. What do we need to do to turn this ship around? Can we do it this year or will we simply not be good enough?
  4. Ok, 4 quarters of pressure football from the full squad. Get the midfield to function so we dont lose the centre bounce 8 times in a row. DONT play kids, try and win. We are not out of it yet.
  5. No excuses, I was there. I was wearing 5 layers (5!) and it was still flipping cold. At 4 pm it was [censored] down. I don’t begrudge anyone who did not show up, it was god awful out there. [censored] scheduling by the AFL - late July night at MCG between us and an interstate team ( who had about 30 people in their cheer squad) - 16 k, well done.
  6. Im going. Its make or break, the boys need to hear my cheer. Go Dees!

Where there’s smoke, there’s some half wit with a match. I reckon its all BS, but I know nuffink!
  8. Fullarton was not recruited as a ruckman, but as a forward who could pinch hit in the ruck. He hasn’t established himself this year, but lets see what another off season could offer.
  9. We can’t rewrite history. Jacko was the ace in the hole for us (until he needed to go home to Mummy to get some biddy). Grundy was a good get, but isnt a second ruck. Great rucks are rare, take ages to develop and are not often available for trade. Who would want to come to the Demons with Max being the main man? Maybe the dees will be attractive as max gets older (more opportunities ), but getting a true 2nd ruck that is ready to go is not easy. The recent recruiting of ‘forwards that can pinch hit” in the ruck are not ruckman, so lets not murder them because they dont fit the role. I can see in a couple of years bth Turner and Petty playing back, Luker, JvR and maybe Jeffo forward, and White or Verrell in the ruck. But that is 1 or 2 years away at least.
  10. I don’t mind the 2’s kicking the dew off the grass before the main event. Bad news is that if Dees hold over multiple emergencies Casey will be short handed again….
  11. Laurie and Bowie were both identified as outstanding ball users in their draft pool. We need that, plus leg speed, to play the game we are trying to. Worth a good look at the lad to see what he can do. Hore and “Pup” on form, and max to fill a huge hole. Kolt, Salo out.

    Done!
  13. This. The old method had us being almost impossible to get the ball past the last 80 m. teams could burn through +20 inside 50s for no benefit. Now al the back 6 press way up - meaning over the back goals are simple if you run hard the other way against the dees. May and Lever do not defend well this way - they are so much better when the ball is coming at them. If everyone presses up and we lose the contest (which we did all day) then a few slick overlap passes, and an easy deep inside 50 entry and goal awaits. This method only works if we dominate contest and dont turn it over in easy spots.
  14. Those numbers are simply staggering.
  15. Wow, we just had our pants pulled down. Outworked and outplayed all day. Can you comment on our new found fragility? Previously our Defence would be in place and we would were hard to score against. On Sunday, they go so many goals over the back, suggesting we played too high and didnt run back hard enough. We may have a game that stands up in finals, but playing like that,we have no chance of making it.

He was a real [censored] ‘skinner’ last night- So your are right to refer to him as such!

For those playing along at home, Stringer is @binman’s Skinner. (Like sparrow was Swallow there for a season or 2…)

Two teams with zero defensive skills. Himmelberg couldn’t catch a cold or pick up a meth addled mummy-type on Hindley Street. Stringer is an absolute [censored] so glad that the bombers ‘bombed’. Makes for a cracking start to the weekend!

Realistically we already have this - teams outside the top 4 are playing for wildcard entry into the ‘big leagues’ of the second weekend of the finals. In the whole time of the AFL, only the Doggies won the thing from a wildcard slot.

Nah, let’s not. 8 is enough. maybe have some bottom 4 games to determine draft order. That would be fun!

    Voted, no contest!
  22. Even an average Clayton is a valuable asset to us as a team. And back to top shelf Clayton. = you would be ashamed of even suggesting this garbage.
  23. Back to the future . We return to Optus oval - the site of a terrible loss to West Coast - to face Freemantle - who put us to the sword by nearly 100 points. Seems like we should be shaking in our boots. We are now also without Gawn and Trac, and after one victory have sky-rocketed into the 8. So, how are we going to go?> Only Nostradamus can know! At our best, we will control the contest and the ground ball, Our defence will be all strangling and hold them to under 72 points whilst our slick hands and smart plays will open our front 50 for a number of our forwards to cash in. Provided we play four quarters (not done this for a while), we have this. At our worst, we will lose the momentum early and never get it back. We will mind grass and watch them sail away to the win. So, the difference between these teams is really small. They are about the same place on the ladder as us, they have excellence in the midfield and a few good sorts around the ground, and we..can be anything! So, with my hopes running high, i say Dees by 22 points.
  24. Interesting last night the conditions appeared slippery with the dew, and a lot of kicking off the ground and forcing the ball forward was used by both sides. Interesting to see how it will be tonight….
  25. Looked like some transition practice. Accuracy might win/lose the game, so good on them for practicing. Well done WCW and your merry band!
