WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
beelzebub replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
surely the media never embellishes thing !!! -
I dont really care about leadership....its all very over rated and such in so far as being THE reason to draft anyone Is fine but my 1st and only criteria is can the bloke play footy. I dont give a fig about how they manage this or that. CAN THEY PLAY FOOTY ?? That hes managed his injury well is good. Rather he wasn't injured...have a few of them.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
beelzebub replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
For mine once the offence is committed and evidence collected for purposes of a SCN then the transgressors should be dealt with by the overseeing body. The participant sport itself should have no more part to play. If this were the case there's little room for crafty shenanigans. This is all done wrong. -

Am surprised Fitzy wasnt traded out.. Pedersen is depth ( soon ) Agree Dawes would relish having Hogan and McCartin up that end. Howe could be flank front or back... If Watts IS to stay....make him a wing. He can link I suppose if people will actually kick to him etc. In space he has time to deliver well. i'll give him that ..hes a bloody good kick. His delivery into the forward 50 just might make him really useful. I'll trust this lot to pick a good one, and a relevant one to the build of the list

I agree WJ Caros effort was lazy and quite simply substantially inaccurate. Dropped the ball. -

beelzebub replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
It all works both ways. In many ways it always has, just there are some exceptions. We owe Jack due respect and help with his injury. We DONT owe him a career per se, Fair opportunity perhaps, Guarantees ?? I wouldnt have thought warranted -

Ya see, otherwise seemingly intelligent people can sometimes just be dumb $#@!* -
Also...thanks GNF A bit of class amongst some rabble Teed up with what I heard was the go with Watts..You had far more detail at hand but there yo go for the doubters...he was put up...and despite what Roos may think, other clubs dont rate him nearly so high as many here would. Not wanting a bash thread t materialise but some need to understand how it works.. I wonder if Roos ( the club ) will be prepared to spend 3 on Lever when McCartin might be sitting pretty there ??? Will be an interesting call. GNF..Do you sense Danger might still come our way or was that a once in a blue moon opportunity left begging/still born sts ? cheers

Whats the prediction of how we are going to go next season
beelzebub replied to ruddo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Footy is a funny game, unless you're losing all the time then one doesn't laugh too much. The game though , despite a growing trend to measure it by numbers , is really about what binds those numbers together..i.e the +, the - , the x and the / . A lot of this stems from playing together as a team, in unison , to the one beat. When this happens , things happen and can do so at an almost exponential rate. Experience, confidence, maturity. These aspects can be the difference between a well put together string of passes and handballs as compared a fumble and a turn over. Footy is often described as a game %10 below the neck and the rest between the ears. Over the years I've played a few sports , some team and of those there were the ones that gelled and the ones that didn't. Not much in between. When you gel as a group synergy develops and the two effects are + and X. You can suddenly pull off those team plays and get to that tackle or punch . It works, you get the upper hand and the opposition is under the pump. Their game is being thwarted by the - and /. Footy is almost a classic 'sliding doors' scenario. Things that could be, or aren't and often it's only a blink or a hesitation between them. It's interesting to note the types now coming into the mix. I'd describe them as doers. The likes of Lumumba and Garlett will back themselves AND their team mates to perform and just get on with it. This will complement the styles of Tyson, Vince , Jones Viney as I predict there will be less 2nd guessing and reverting to bad habits. With the right players those training drills DO transpose to the game. The Game Plan IS understood and carried out. With a good team sheet all are on the same page and this is , for mine, where the old adage comes to mind: a Champion team and not necessarily a Team of Champions . If you get the mix right you end up whereby the sum is greater than its components suggest. All too often everyone keeps their sights peeled for this 'saviour' champion to arrive. He'll fix it all, he'll make it happen. We'll be OK then. A machine won't work if you don't have all the parts, or it may work but not effectively. That's been us. I don't think our version of the machine is any world beater yet but I think at least all the parts are there now. Some could be refined, enhanced even , but the list is starting to look like a capable team. If this is the case then I see no reason to be dour on our potential to play a competitive brand of footy, and again, footy's a funny game. Go Dees -
ah what the hell...bit of fun 9th % 111.11

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
beelzebub replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think theres curry in this. I have a suspicion 14 was used to develop Howe's game. The likes of Dawes , Hogan, Howe , Kent Garlett hovering in and amongst the fwd 50 might prove interesting -
Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
beelzebub replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would have thought the reality of Jacks position is that he wont be available for the entire 15 season Do i hear any dissenters ? If thats the case then what good does he really do on the senior list, even if LTI. The reality also is if he doesnt come up he'll be let loose at the end of 15. What if you were to do a deal whereby he did step down , in whatever fashion is required and he is picked up as a rookie but given a 2 year deal.. I couldnt see any other club taking on the risk, theres just too many others to choose from. If he does come good he's a cert for elevation if he doesnt he falls off the list as it were. Whilst I'm all for looking after your blokes theres a balance somewhere between responsible and pragmatic. -
Im not damnng them. its not a game of chicken.. its for keeps.. The numbers are so relative. Did we have a shopping list.....did we get most of it...etc Thats what matters

Petracca will go to Saints That leaves us to pick Brayshaw and some other utility mid type ( Id have thought...but ) Who knows to be honest. We were right into Lever. Maybe theh FD is looking to snare a good mid next FA Ill leave it to the club, they seem to have a handle on things these day
