  1. Yes I do remember it well And NO it is not possible. That group had a whole swag who really played for each other and especially for Swooper. I'll put it out there. Swooper is twice the game day coach Roos is. .Paul is a different type of coach for a different purpose in a different time. All that needed to happen was for that group to knit together and believe. They as a lot could also PLAY footy.( granted Eishold's kicking.was....) There really wasnt too many that you would have been looking to 'move on " . Contrast 2015. Half this lot ( edit..currently taking the paddock) are woeful. Question marks hang over about 25% of our list. We cant get the best 22 on the field No my fellow Demonlanders this is NOT like 1987 no matter how much youd like to think so.The game has moved on. We havent I stood at Arctic park and watched our dream dive with Bucky's kick.
  2. this ^^^^ There are at clubs,, different 'circles'. Some exist in one that doesnt need any hands on involvement and there are those that squirrel their way into all the nooks. Some will have known even if generally most didnt. There again is always the 'official" line and also what some know under the table and keep it to themselves until it has some currency for what ever they see it fit for. This quite simply is the way of the world. Some should and will go down for this.
  3. It was run after all as a personal black ops under Fuhrer Hird. I expect some knew and many didn't. Some probably convinced to stay schtum. Pretty Jimmy having no need nor concern of rules simply didn't bother informing anyone of the finer points. It was pseudo 'off the grid' stuff. The EFC as now were a shambolic and morally vacuous lot. The few that may have known didn't care, still don't.
  4. A tad premature for mine. Good luck to the lad . Hopefully the clubs faith is not misplaced.
  5. Well...effectively in a fashion. Then the following question you would think is. Can you show/prove you 'actually ' took something else. They can't.
  6. no the rules put the responsibility squarely with the athlete. The rules require you to show you have no been wayward and explain what you have taken. A "dunno" doesn't wash. The rules require proof from the athlete of what's taken.
  7. that brought back some memories
  8. before you throw brickbats consider its possibly Essendons conduct which is the "flawed"The code is fine. It just doesn't really suit to get nicked does it.
  9. The DAY is glorious. ....just the footy will be gloomy !
  10. its the MFC way. Throw enormous money and time at spuds in hope one sprouts.Me..id give King a few games and see where his talent falls.appraise....then assess. This is another nothing year lets learn what ee can about the list then be merciless.
  11. Whens Cols bday ? Can we make that the only day we talk about self serving hacks ...same goes for any other. Give'm one day of oxygen for they've had more than enough money and pixels otherwise. Honestly who t f gives one about some plodding suburban player. I just dont care about has beens that never were. Maybe we need a whole new board for these NQRs and such. As much as Watts frustrates the livibg life out of me id buy him a beer. Col is an affront to the jumper. Took money under false pretences.
  12. Fitzy wont play the sharp end. Why..when you have wayts and howe. Fitz to the rear pencil 1st up..Pedders as 2nd. Howe to the hff. Watts to Ff Hogan to Chf. I know that wont happen. It might look like a footy team then ffs
  13. i agree the PP is dead...sort of lives in disguise as favours come FA compo. I like the idea of bottom four getting 2 picks as above. Maybe together with a top up capping as per pigdog you might have a real chance
  14. Thats the problem. Theres no framework for tenure; no real accountability. There are essentially no rules for the rulers. In true AFL fashion its all made up on the fly and ratified by sycophantic yes men or those with 'other' agendas. Its the biggest boys club in town. It evades much corporate policing because its effectively a private company. The perfect environment for self serving corruption. They would have been right at home in ancient Rome.
  15. Back to the pharmacy for you. They've given you the wrong meds !!!
  16. The code IS suitable for team sports. It was conceived with all varieties and numbers in mind. What we have here is a code that talks big and walks limp. What we have are moral bankrupts in charge with no ticker to run things ethically. What we also have is that element of the media who would champion such a despotic Flavour of business. Birds of a feather as they say. Its interesting really to note that the idea this press attempts to raise is to do with "suitability" and ignores the idea that its really about adherence to rules. This needing to within bounds doesn't fit with cheats so they want to be free of the restraints. If players/teams dont cheat then there's no real weight to the 'problem' of the code fitting. The code is fine.
  17. i quite like this. Its simple. Also means you can either load up and spend big by trading both. You can use both or keep either. Some useful flexibility. Is hard now for those in the lowest 4 to get any momentum to get up . This would most definitely help. Naaah...too easy..never fly
  18. To me , even if forced by injuries, the selectors are at least mixing it up and having a look. The list is still embryonic. Some wont be on it come eos. Now is their time to show a why, or why not.We aren't playing finals this year. Some experimentation is warranted, even if maybe to the likes of Roos inconvenient. On the surface youd expect Fitzy going back frees up Howe to go fwd. Id love to see us deploy a 3rd man up. Beats me that we dont. Still, much about our style confounds me.Our ruck only needs to deny them an ability to win easy hits to their position. If we can make the contests actual contests then mids if any good can shark whatever results. Its about getting the ball. Footy really isnt that complicated. We just make it look so.
  19. You realise when Toumpas actually starts playing at a level that warrants the rating you abd others gift him then we doubters might THEN give it that rest. To date hes shown to be a quite capable SANFL player and nothing else. Hes positioning and effect in a game is not at the level needed. His kicking is that of a schoolkid...all high chips !Im way past bothering with the "he was the wrong pick" , im simply viewing him as a player. He sums up melb perfectly for mine.
  20. Mick is a fool for staying now. He should pack his blue bag and leave on his terms and for them to continue their own tumultuous decline. I know it goes against the grain for mouse but why would you bother ...life's too short. Eddie will buy him a beer I'm sure
