Once this kid loses a bit of the puppy...and whacks a bit more solid on him....he'll be scary out there........how goods that !! -

I'll be only 100% convinced when he takes the field in a continuous fashion. The talent /ability is there in spades....its just that niggle.... I dont like niggles in footy players. But he's here, he's ours ( and not theirs..lol ) so go Weed...Go Dees -

Something many dont know is that despite there being a great rivalry between Melbourne and Collingwood ( as there ought to be ) there was back in that era a great respect for each other. Funny you mention those two..first two pairs of boots were Ron Barrasi's...and after Weideman White diamonds....... How could I have known !! lol -

Something some may like to ponder. Some has been made of Clayton "Brick" Oliver's non appearance at the U18's.. Given he got to play VFL and handled himself very capable I really couldn't care. Im always wary kiddy ball has some restrictions about how the game is played.. the VFL is more like the real footy they are coming to. Often we see some talented kids fall over once they step up. Oliver already knows what thi is about in a way. That has to be good and think its one of the reasons he was drafted. He CAN play...not he 'might' be able to. -

NormallyI wouldnt think so either... we probably hadnt expected Brayshaw to burst onto scene and own his place either...but he did I would think all things equal Weed would be coming into prominence in 17 save for two things possibly... We do need someone else down the front who can MARK...and Sam has put it out there he want to play1st's next season. So who knows.. If he gets fitness sorted.. we might see him...we might -
I think this thread needs a revisit now. Maybe its very title could change to Trade and Draft ? As thats really what its all about, the whole shebang. Trade was not just about bringing in some players directly but positioning ourselves to go shopping at the draft.. This pairing of trading and drafting somewhat parallels the two areas on need for the club's list. 1) The midfield...it's all about the midfield is often the catch cry. Ours has gone from overworked /undertalented to embryonic and now to "we've got the recipe, the ingredients and now is in the oven " Trade brought us Bugg Kennedy and of course Milkshake. But we still needed some more grunt and inside power to this combination....cue Clayton Oliver. We can and will always revise and embellish this collection of midfileders going forward but finally it seems we have something to really work with 2) Talls.. Jesse needed a playmate. Someone who can hold a ball in contested marking. Someone who knows where to be on the ground..Someone who can kick goals.. We have the Weed. Hopefully the niggle goes and these two can become the best of forward mates and terrorise the oppositions defenders.for many years to come. But that wasnt all we needed.. We still needed more forward stocks. We need another Ruck project type,,we needed more depth and we get this with King and Hulett. With only the rookies to come and more than likely Michie to be retainied as one of them it's pretty well near over for the years recasting of the list How did we do overall Bloody marvelously I'd say.. We turned 1 early pick into 2. We plugged holes all over the list. We have genuine reason for optimism. The list is all but unrecognisable to say 4-5 years ago say a small handful...and thank god for that Well done Taylor and Co..Well done MFC-FD Nothing is ever perfect but I'd rate this years trade draft at 9-1/2 out of 10. I still hold concerns in one area but I think we've done very well and should see us play some very good footy from here on in. Go Dees

lol... Love the passion, and why not enjoy. Practicing my siphoning currently. Just the one posting would have sufficed btw I branded Weideman as Suss1 because he obviously comes aboard with a few questions about his niggling injuries. We've had a bad run ( npi ) with players coming into the club only to waylayed early. He obviously has prodigious talent and I certainly hope this translates into a long and rewarding career ( for all concerned ) I wish him well and success. I wish us that success. Cant wait for next years QB game -

A delicious irony. -
Strikes me as a sort of strategy. The fibres of strong bonds already exist. Less likely to wander when your best footy mates wear the same jumper. Not a priority in selecting a player..a happy bonus id say.

My only concern about Weideman ...and hence my giving him a suss1 monicker is his feet ( foot ) We've had such a bad run ( npi ) with such injuries. If the club after due dillgence has awarded him the all clear.. Well...welcome aboard son...Im sure your new play mate cant wait to wax the footy with you -
Trenners on the ground ( picked ) would be a sight

might have happened when we actually managed to wrangle 3 and 7 from 6. Options officially changed...just my guess -
Pass...not for us
-
other teams are getting equalisation funding. Not all turning a nett profit either. It was a dig at us. Totally unnecessary in my view.

Well ive come to my determination that pick 3 will be Oliver..maverick left field choice i know...it's how I roll Got absolutely no idea now about 7. Could be one of about 4 and even then they'll pick the 5th. If it is the Oliver/Weed scenario , well done to those choosing it. I hope his foot is sorted if that's our direction. The latter picks really intrigue me. We will after all have 4 new players as of this evening. Well. Welcome aboard 3 and 7, whoever you are Go Dees Go you good Mr Taylor
-
They have before
-
They couldnt help themselves the good ol Sun....had to throw a backhander Link points to News' version ( no wall ) Melbourne posts $560,000 profit with help of AFL equalisation Other clubs also received money but lets pick on the Dees. You'd never pick them for a sponsor would you

Melbourne might take a Weideman. ..what's the diff ?
