Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
It's interesting revisiting this conundrum. Some days i think both can still contribute . Other days I just wonder. You watch the 21 big dance and then watch any game since especially this season . Neither are the player they were. Trac has ebbed and flowed somewhat since but to be brutally honest his performance since coming back from that dastardly injury hasn't been the same. Clarry.... well.... just not as dynamically hurtful to the opposition as once. Not blaming either. They're older . Really starting to think it might be time for many to move on . Dees aren't playing deep into September for some years on current trend. Dees need a big refresh. Im not losing sleep if either or both are elsewhere in 26. Wish them both well , here ......or there.

The poor optics are nothing that's appeared overnight. They've been there for all to see for some time. Granted it might vary according to colour of lenses 😉

🤔 It bloody would be too.... in spades !!! 🤣🤣🤣

Time to go Goody?
Sorry Jumbo but I can't in any scenario posit Goodwin in a manner whereby he's immaterial to the methods, performances and outcomes of the players. It may not be an intended effect but they play one way or another as a result of he being the coach.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
It's comforting. Gives you that warmth and fuzziness knowing that no matter how bad we can be.... we can actually up the ante and do something even more stupid. Other club's supporters must be livid, be so jealous of our abilities. I chortle smuggle knowing we're just THAT good !! 😉

Time to go Goody?
Yes they would... but... but ... could they be sounded out, talked with even now. It's a very exceptional thing... sacking a coach... buy it alone I would think might warrant a meeting of minds ... off campus as it were ... to break bread and pow wow ?? If I were Green i would seek their counsel and imput/views. But it might be just 'easier' to do nothing ( nothing maverick that is ) and just let the problems flow downstream. All care, no responsibility etc.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I think it's reasonable to suggest there will be some changes , off and on the field. Player wise there are always the "shock" trades no one saw coming. Why would we be surprised ( really) if 'playerX' .. well loved at the club decides to up-stumps and seek other fields !! If some come in ...well some have to go out. We have sfa currency in terms of picks . There is a legitimate question of do we need a super-hand of picks in order to add to our talent. F/S opportunities might come at a relative discount if we can only use an amalgamation of picks we have 🤔🤷♂️ Trade seems to be the preferred route to get a type of player rtg that you need. This was always Roos' philosophy and I agree with him. Well trade by very definition means X for Y. Classic Omelette and Eggs situation. Something will have to give ( literally) .. in order to get. I for one will be fascinated to see how we manage the off season... both on and off field. That said I'm not really expecting much for 26. 27, maybe.

Time to go Goody?
Well.... here in lies a very real concern for me. If something was to happen ? When ? I then fall back to who would/could instigate such change. I'm of a mind that Green wouldn't off his own bat. Also Guerra wouldn't, Smith might but I doubt it.. but could ALL liaising/ discussing among themselves find a position from which to weird axes etc. And if so...again when. Logic, a precious and rare commodity at Melbourne, would dictate as early an agreement as possible to allow not just the handover of roles/duties but the ability to even find that suitable replacement(s) . You would definitely want the 'new hands' at the wheel going into trade. I just fear we'd stuff that up too. A lot of people , not just at our club, are going to have at least one eye peeled towards the club and what if anything it decides to do. I'd be very , very surprised if Simon is shown the door at end of season ( or before ) . It would be very Melbourne- like to suggest any extension might be subject to team performance in 26. That may or may not help/hinder some as to their decisions. ( both at Melb and possible trades coming in ) I think the club is majority hamstrung currently and this doesn't help anything that we need to do. All of our own doing...again, as is our way.

I tend to agree. Much will happen whether intended or not.

I wonder if the phones will continue to get a workout among the Board Members 🤔 Tbh.. I'm not expecting an iota of change. Lots of words... but no action.

Farewell Judd McVee
Wonder whats tge bet his manager has suggested he wait and watch. Would be my advice. Nothing to lose, everything to gain in his position. In reality he owes nothing to the MFC.

Time to go Goody?
Yes, the most likely scenario. The preferred one ? NO A very Melbourne outcome.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I'll second this. Two things. I think it might serve Clarry well to start afresh and reset. I think whoever we might garner from allowing Oliver to move on might give us... us... a better return. Honestly just think it's ts a win win all round.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Lyon must have thought all his Christmases had come as he looked out upon the ground as the game edged from opportunity to opportunity. It would have no doubt crossed his mind ( with excited realisation ) ... "these guys are clueless" ... " how can they not see what I'm seeing, and they're out there !!" No wonder he was in hysterics. Couldn't believe what he was seeing.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Just a question.. actually asking it without malice to pre-empting any bias etc. Who is this on ?? Players... Coaching ... Both ?? Would strike me players ought to know the basics of the game. Im tempted to think that 'scenario drills' are part and parcel of team tactics therefore some responsibility of coaching. But as much as I have little to non-existent faith in our coaching Im just mind boggled as to how so many players effectively broke so many "rules" of footy 101 ...all at the same time. Has a team ever 💩 itself so comprehensively?? Very sad

No. But certainly could mention in context of those in charge of coaching, selecting and managing the team. He's in that mix, as are others. And not one , nor any roles mentioned in his 'nothing' letter. One between that only came about as a result of our 'record breaking' performance ...or non-performance yesterday. The Elephant(s) were carefully ignored. Not for the first time
