For mine the question regarding Bowey emanates from his coming into the backline in the first place. He came in to replace injury. .And it worked.. but is anything set in concrete...in footy ? Currently our backline is working the best it has in ages.. So why is Bowey needed...i.e.. is there a crying obvious NEED to bring him straight back in ?... atm ? I would suggest... NO It aint broke...dont fix it. Defence is going ok and meshing better each outing.

I have felt that for quite some period of this season teams have found an extra gear in order to take us on . We were THAT scalp. I sense the mantle has moved to Collingwood. Works for me.

Ive been somewhat critical of re Bowey and i haven't seen anything to sway me...yet. He does a lot of clever work....only...imo( my eyes watching) to cough it up with poorly weighted ( and chosen style.. lofted or bullet ) passes out of the back. These are costly. Personally id leave him in the magoos to tidy up this aspect. For mine he's not a walk up start. Thommo was excellent last night...turned back the clock and it all clicked. I think Petty will need a run or two to regain match fitness before resuming in the 1st 22..again.. just my thinking.

I had been encouraged earlier in the year watching our preseason hitouts to note we had a few more strings to our bow. The game was being tweaked, options trialled and the predictability turfed. We looked ok...bit rusty.. but we looked far more dangerous imo. I lamented that come the season proper it had reverted to same same.....same old us. The verve , flair and unpredictability was missing. It all came back yesterday. Hope it sticks around. This is a far far better rendition of the Dees. Still some work to do, especially the sharp end. Scoreline should have read 18:8 Get that sorted and September beckons. Well done Dees

Where so much happens in the build up to that first bounce. The total focus of the footy world is on you. The importance of other factors and emotional foundations..A massive crowd. Yes, it's very Grand Final like in many aspects.. It of course, not the BIG Dance...but this isn't the local hop either. I really don't mind if the players have psyched themselves up a bit. They'll need to . This will be a ding dong battle of bitter rivals of a very long standing. I want the likes of Kozzie, Fritta,Viney, Max and Trac to have a DAY OUT !! I really don't mind if the next game is a bit dull, a bit matter of fact..etc. Today I want the team to understand this is not so much a Grand Final as it is a Grand Final Practice. Everythig that is today goes up a noths come the Truly Big Day but this is as close to it as you get. They need to be able to soak it all up and produce a complete team effort topped off with some really handy 'best games for a while" type efforts. I really don't mind if Brodie does have a game that's to remind his old team-mates that they are foes now.....and his old club.."How DARE you !!" I always thought this would be a game around two specifics... respective defences... and 4 qtrs of run and pressure. If we come to play ( seriously) we should have the tank for 4 qtrs. Collingwood 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 maybe not so much. If we can be a least evens at 3/4 time i suspect those collywobbly legs will get very heavy ...for some. Interesting game ahead. Go Dees
