I know this thread has been a hot bed of angst and argument. I get that often there are many vantage points and we would not be human if we did ot bring with us to discussions that which has made us who we are. We are different but we are are singularly the same in one ( at least ) respect. We are dyed in the wool Demon tragics. We care, more than many, about this club and we all bleed Red and Blue. That we can often agree to disagree is probably the greatest testament to this forum I can think of. That said Im going to suggest that we may now all be agreeing there is something demon-strably wrong. Our Football Department is doing us no favours and the focus of it's dysfunction has to be the coach. He is not alone ( far from it ) in blame but he is central. Something has to change, and quickly lest a final stage cancer take hold and we're back in very dark times. So do we agree something is wrong about how we play (sic) footy and those causing that need to go ?

Just want to bump this. Can't stand Kornes but he's not without merit in what he's saying. Not really the worst qtr of footy as THE DUMBEST!! A lot of that ought not have happened. Even whist the train wreck was in motion it COULD have been stemmed. How? Intelligent coaching. What we observed was the total LACK of coaching. There is absolutely no excuse for that... none. Any decent club/board would rope the coach in immediately after that game and demand a Please Explain !! Talk about a bunny in the spotlights ... f m d That qtr will be used by coaches everywhere.... This is how you NEVER play football. Serve up.thatvand DCM !!

To me a most damning indictment of our current malaise is that it isn't accidental. It's not as though we arrive at today via a series of Lemony-like unfortunate events. We are where we are by design. And by that I mean a confluence of decisions and failures. Many of these had alternatives and yet here we are. I wonder who ( if anyone ) will take ownership of our situation and take take action. As to date no one's doing anything as apparently nothing is wrong. I tend to disagree with that. Cmon Melbourne, wake up, smell the flowers... or to be honest the rotting mulch.

You realise Goodwin sits in on that.. In fact he will preside OVER that. Thats how selection works. Questions will be asked and answered, suggestions made etc.. all roads lead to Rome. Goodwin is Caesar. Just as Caesar made decisions so does Goidwin. Everyone else is there to serve. Input, ideas and so on.. Generals follow orders. Thats the nature of things. Anyone who thinks a player plays, doesn't play , is selected, not selected without Simon's tick... you're kidding yourselves.

That has to be a particularly naive outlook. I'm sorry Cassie but the Players ARE a product of the coaching. Thats what coaches DO !! So we have essentially two aspects to this debacle. The game/coaching and the participants. ALL of which emanate from the efforts of the coaches. If not, why do they exist? Yesterday was just the culmination of a train wreck that was always going to happen. But in one concession I wouldn't blame Simon solely. This is on the FD and the Board for being so utterly pathetic and stupid to allow this incredulous situation to arise. Whoever did the review , take a bow, you're just as idiotic. Quite frankly anyone with a modicum of intelligence will know this and more. Unfortunately we all know a place totally devoid of intelligence.... MFC. To those that crow.. ...oh you know Goody will still be there in 26 !! ( suck it up ) etc . We get that. Thats not the actual point in a fashion. It is whether for the greater good of the Club/list he ought to be there,not that he will be. Many of us disillusioned understand, only too well ( and forms part of the frustration) that the club is incapable of doing anything about it. Only goes to reinforce to many what a lame duck enterprise the place is. All the things that should happen and most likely not a one will occur. This is/has only ever been about what is best for our club. It's not me you, you, you.. or any number of us lined up on one side of an argument trying to best those on the other. It's not Dees supporters trying to battle Dees supporters. It's trying to get the club to do something,if unpalatable to some,/them , to better our position and prospects. We're declining. There can be no argument ( none that seriously observes facts ) that can show otherwise. Scoreboards and Ladders are brutal and unbiased. So yes Goodwin will more than likely remain in 26. Sadly that's more a commentary of the sad state of this rudderless club than any endorsement of ability. Quite frankly there's no one to sack him. Soft cap is a soft excuse. Geez were a soft club.
