  1. Thats very clever trading ( for Carlton ) effectively a freebie
  2. Some good news Well done Col. Excellent that you're forging ahead..and with us. Keep a lookout for Garl's Girls !!
  3. Some good news Dr .... you're not so bad
  4. I actually understand your view. Id just rather pay all of our money on our players. I also understand the situation its not a unique situation. I would counter though it is also an probably unnecessary one. Also one that must certainly cast any suggestions of salary cap pressure to the bin.
  5. you do realise its OUR salary cap though...so it by effect has influence over how much we can actually spend on OUR players
  6. And theyre not even paying top dollar for it all Port have done pretty okay I'd say
  7. I seem to remember some self suggested edict Dland that any player on the banner had to have earnt it. Go from there
  8. well it turns out you actually WEREN'T unless of course a few hundred thousand here and there is of no consequence to you in which case I can provide my bsb & acc so you can forward all yours !!
  9. the two things can be independent. I know its not unknown to do such..but... but often the trade is better weighted etc. This isnt , hasnt ever been about sal cap
  10. a fraction yes 2/5 at least.. There were many utterances even by our illustrious FD along this journey that it wasnt ever about Sal cap...This is just another furphy
  11. Not really...he's just pushing the same barrow of rubbish out that many here have/are Garry Lyon ?? Mark says hello
  12. It might not be Goodwin (just Goodwin) here. Little Jack Watts somehow agrieved the FD to the extent he was bannished. This was never a "trade" it was excommunicated ( irony as demons) . His bags packed, nudged out the door, given away and his fare paid. And the many still dont see this as abhorrent. This whole episode says a lot about the club, or elements and for the most part i don't like it. "The club" is entirely satisfied with the outcome. It also comes across as a shonky used car dealer when pressed for detail. I find that amazing. I mean ..WTF is really going on at Melbourne. There is the notion Jack wasn't any longer a good fit. Given his actual performance and standing among his peers that makes little sense. But even if that were the case would you go about transferring him out in the manner just witnessed ? A lot of the official narrative just doesnt wash under scrutiny. It's a fiction in the main that borrows a number of elements , twists some, invents others and then was sold on as bone fide. Words are often cheap, actions speak. There's a lot about this season that screams BULLSHlT. Jack's often described as ' icing' ...well he was certainly the icing on someones efforts ! Jack's now gone (how strange to even write that ) but reality of the club is probably no different. Leopards and spots and such. The FD now have much to prove. Go Dees
  13. The Leadership Group. A much vaulted ensemble. Funny ive seen very little that resembles leadership out on the grounds during games, cameos here and there. Granted, injury has had its toll but please fellow Dlanders come up with something better than this 'mob' expects X Y and Z for if that the case it's more about vacuous words than actions. Maybe this illustrious group have exemption 'til qtr time ? Maybe those among them so wonderful ought cast the first stones . Oh...they have...dbl standards reign well at Melbourne i see. The narrative out of the FD about Jack especially over the last two years has changed more than our weather. Maybe not the narrative rolled out for public consumption but to the players . What the FD do is up to them. How they explain it is also up to them. Ultimately the age old barometer will judge them. I remind the many that the first language of this game is lies. Still, so many take so much at face value. Two things to note. Scoreboards seldom speak falsehoods. Football departments know little else when communicating with non footy folk ( publicly) I get that we want this club to succeed. I certainly do. Doesn't mean ill swallow hook line and sinker the rubbish coming out of AAMI park. Why do so many question and disbelieve orher clubs yet readily drink our Koolaid ? Is it just because its ours ? Theres loyalty to a clubs history, ambition and jumper. There's also blind stupidity . I love this club. The current staff are just that. They don't own it even if some think otherwise. 2018 will be graded harshly if we don't feature significantly at the pointy end. I wonder who'll next theyll cart out for crucifixion.
  14. Tttt. Nothing surprises me about this. Have no idea what page it was on but i did make the comment we would take this pick... take any pick really So much is not what it seems. Alas...water flowing under the bridge now.... hopefully not down the drain.
  15. Spot poll/ pop quiz Just a curiosity here. It's not about sides...ok Who still holds the same views about this adventure/farce/ circus /list management ( call it whatever suits ) as you did ...say .. at the end of season ? Its a serious question....well...a real curiosity
  16. An irony for mine is that whilst the Thread's title is about Watts, whilst we talk of Watts and what's what. What has happened and the 'what' that all this is really about is not Jack. In much measure its about a package of expectations,a club, its failures its tribulations, its politics its ability to do things. Jack just happened to be a very convenient whipping boy and eventual scapegoat . His last act was as the sacrifice to the alter of ' truth and realities' I wish you luck Jack. I wish our club well. I most fervently above all hope that we sort through this debacle Out damn spot...
