The thing that doesnt work in Brads favour...is timing. If we were about to head into a window and need to bolster our stocks whilst retaining key players then yes. sign him up for three etc etc etc.. maybe evern offer high end of market money to secure him..after all we'd be look at picking up silverware !! But were not..unlikely for say 4-5 years.. So if he stays or goes.. it really wont matter much..not in those terms. Brad has no leverage...maybe someone can tell him..lol But he can by all rights sek a better deal elsewhere..no problem with that.

makes for interesting reading in case you havent Adam Thomson by Wisbey
-
This would be my greatest concern.,. that he would be like a Deer in the headlights.. get done most of the time.
-
Well..maybe we may see this trialled next year in NAB !! HT ..I concur.. i dont think hes got it..whether this was his intended role or otherwise. You need sound legs and big engines for the middle.. that would be an X and an X for Bell id think
-
OK..have no idea of your real name..but whatever it is..imagine someone took it away from you..Now also..its bad enough that you are nomadic..struggle to put roots down and are in the sh!t financially but now something has ID-jacked you.. you are no longer you!! How do others interacttwith you...how do you identify yourself ?? if you are no longer Melbourne...you may no longer..be .......Melbourne !! capische ??

In all seriousnes Jaded..and I ask this in good faith..Why do you think Bell can play the midfield..and where is this supposed "speed" coming from. On a good day he kinda handle his job down back..but he;d have far more averge to bad days there. He , to me has never exhibited the 6th sense techniques that a good midfielder has to create runs, initiate passages or other..He just manages defending..just. possibly Ive been watching another Bell...yours is obviously resoundingly better !! Without doubt he has his moments..but he seems to me to have no chnage-up. I suppose there may actually be two questions.. Could he play in our midfield as it is presently..Or is he true AFL standard for the middle ?? vastly different things...as our midlefield is extremely medicore currently..on most days ! Not something many want to deal with..but thats the long and the short of it. So what does Daniel really bring to this party...anything we havent already seen ?? just curious. Be great if there was.

Carlton...White and Warnock...What..is this W -Week or something Jeff's options are drying up quicker than a cocky's dam !! -
just a question to those considering throwing Bell forward. Do you not think that possibly this hasnt crossed the minds of the Melbourne think-tank ? In all the matchups, intra club games and training he ( Bell) will have inevitably been given a role as a forward. Its all part of assessment and learning. Despite all his years at Melbourne..he hsnt been trialled in a forward role in real time. What might this say ?
-
You want to put Bell forward.. at who's expense then ?? we have other developing forwards. Bell will never be a KPP..so really what is the point I ask?..Me thinks Bell is just another also ran..times a ticking !!
-
HT..I care not for stats.. I can make then spin and dance.. I go more by what I see. You can SEE effectiveness on a field. He isnt THAT effective for all his efforts. Yes ..been better this latter half..But boy he'd want to be huh!! I dont want him working within the confines of the team..I want him to EXPAND them !! he doesnt ...he should with his talent.
-
This undoubtedly the reality of it....hence he'll probably get another year to breathe deserving or otherwise. I'd take a 2nd rounder ( even latish ) for him..would be no more of a gamble , cheaper..and more upside long term.
-
If he came at the right price.. might be an interesting pickup...or trade. Limited opportunites may be the reason he isnt shining yet ?
-
He's been supposedly on the way UP ever since he started...Just where and what exactly is UP ?..and when does he get there ??
-
^^^^ couldnt agree more ............ is complaining about complaining...complaining ??

Colin Sylvia: What hasnt already been said by us at some time <_< Probably the player at the club who raises the most ire for the very fact that somewhere inside him is a very very good player and that despite teasing glimpses its very very likely thats where it will stay. Either he steps right up to the plate in 09 and seizes it, makes it his and repays the clubs investment or Im sure the patience of the club wil lbe exhausted, I know mine just about is. Well Col..its up to you

Youre not alone in suggesting or thinking what weve seen is at loggerheads with the hype. Some others seem to have continued their growth in the game from the beginning of the year. Cant say Ive seen the same with Naita..Was quite excited about this guy at years start..werent we all. Was disappointing to watch...albeit limited occasions.. but thought id only need that to come away dizzy. Definitely pass over...let him be some other teams special project.

Exhibit A from MFC....bold is translation from Footy Club Speak..into reality Daniel Bell – The South Australian defender had a frustrating season.- He's really done nothing to write home about and we're 10 times more frustrated than him Despite recording career-best disposals and games in a season, Bell battled form and injury issues. - This is the best we can expect ?? He endured osteitis pubis and hamstring injuries, despite missing just four matches this season. - Well, well done son, you might have an excuse...you need an excuse.. next year we arent accepting excuses Still, the 23-year-old believes a redefined training program will help him going into the pre-season. - He knows he needs to deliver He faces an important year in 2009 – - No stuffing arounf from here on in his seventh-listed season at Melbourne –- are ya listening Daniel but still looms as a key part of the team's defensive unit. - Last chance cafe, no more loomers in 09,10 or any other year from now on !!

Wellllllll...Goooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee gee willerkers !! Well that does it for me... hi didly oh de do.. he kicked some goals as a big kid...!! Isnt it just a mite strange he never exhibited even the remotest such skill since. Im thinking theres a good chance he might have found the goals a few more times before now if he had any real sense of them. No Im sorry.. Bell needs to step up two steps ( let alone one ) if he's to retain any relevence to Melbourne. He's managed to keep a game with some very sporadic results in a team fall lof injury and depth decreption !! if youre really any good..if youve really got any polish...you will stand out in a lowly team..Morton has.. Valenti shown a littel bit..( not a lot..but something ) Maric ..you notice ( for the right reasons ) ...and Bell..we still notice for the wrong reasons. I'll wait for ol argument..oh he's in the back.. its hard when youre having the crap kicked out of you.. Strangely Garland got it together ( well definitely showing signs he can ) Martin ..who almost has no right beingout there.. is trying..and with results.. They manage to shine through...even on the darkest days..we know they are al lup against it.. Some manage to push back. Better start ringing your Bell son !!...otherwise I can tell you for whom it tolls !!!
-
Yes, one might be fogiven for thinking, ne expecting that the Capt of the dominiant team all season might get the nod for al-OZ !! I think Harley © and Judd (vc) makes for a better taste in the mouth Leaves it all loooking a bit pre-ordained etc. Youd think they pick the best 2nd ruck..for the 2nd ruck !! All a bit conspired for mine !! surprise surprise ....surprise !!!

ok..Swannies have 11.. 29 ( correctin my ealier error ) 45 61 77 and 93 Now no ones giving up a first round pick Id think.. Pick 29 ? doubt it Swannies need youth.. so will probably use to draft 45..hmm these are tradable..but more likely in the hurly burly to get an out of favour est player..or a semi discard...someone one club think has an upside even if another club is keen to jettison 61? possibly.. but if Jeff is likely in the PSD..why waste it.... leaves 77 and 93...ah yes..the hidden treasure end of the circus !! if we're lucky !! lol -
If we dont pick up a ruck across the break Id be happy enough persevering with PJ as such and maybe bringing someone else on. As I suggested elsewhere..next year is but another step in the right direction..its not the arrival at the destination. We wont necesaarily have all the bits in place. PJ has earnt, I reckon , the chance to step up a notch again in this role. Yes ..an important qualifier that..hitouts to advantage
