Hey...pssst !! Queen and I have a nice brick wall over here.... wanna share ???
-
Ultimately ..YES The job at hand is to "enlighten " him..and show him the way !!! let the games commence
-
A matter of perspective no ?? 240 K down the tubes for nothing I would think is even a worse result.. We are going to pay an amount for X players neXt year. Disregard any insolvency issue.. its either there or it isnt. Has no effect on what we pay as a salary cap in the end..We will pay what we will pay. It matters as you what you get for it !! You can either be master of your destiny...or sit around and cry foul. The circumstance and opportinites are exactly the same. Its all down to attitude.

conjecture speculation and imagination !! Only one person knows what Robbie Warnock wants to do at this moment..and dare I suggest its Robbie Warnock..and also that its "at this minute" He jsut made up his mind to go..thats the first step. he will no doubt have found solace and possible sage wisdom from his family. He's now at the next step, what and where to go. His advice will most likely be to see what is presented, not exaclty a brain tester that one !! its far from game over..in fact its only now that its GAME ON !! dont slit wrists just yet!

well..in the vogue of your summation..yes...exactly. The argument evolves a little more than that though. its comparitve values. What some rightly suggest is the real question posed is does Melbourne want to gain another player at the lower end to develop. So in that instance the choice is pay ( using yor figure ) 240 k for Carroll to go nowhere running around the Magoos stamping time. Value to MFC = NIL or Payout Carroll..and rookie another.. base payment 33k odd total cost..240=33= 277K value to MFC= strictly speaking unquantifiable...but would have to think something positive, at worst a gamble as opposed to the certainty of nothing !! so its 240 v 273...not alot in it is there ??
-
yes he can its whether the club has the where with all to do so. its a contract..you can pay it out. Like any business you can sack people. There are of course guidelines and consequences of doing so. If Melbourne decides to meet these, he's gone...**pufff** Gone !! really it comes down to money

Theres nothing that says clubs cant talk 'socially' with players, that they cant suss out the lay of the land etc. It was leveled at us that we actually effectively put an offer to him...which is naughty naughty!! Now ..whats inferred..and whats actually spelt out ??? lol.. thats the diference..Good on Melb for being proactive and pushing the envelope...better us than some other crowd.

This ought to be an interesting thread !! Well, not really going to eat Crow or Humble Pie but have beena long time critic of this bloke. He deserves some kudos in return. Miller is NOT a magnificently talented player, more the shame. He does on the other hand have somehonest ability . I dont think anyone disputed this.It was his inability to deliver on it that created all the frustration. He seemed reluctant to actually back himslef and utilsie his ability, seemingly deferring to the 'team' play option all the time , often to nil effect. He now seems aware that he can do something far more positive, especially by foot. He seems to be controlling his "niggle' far better and Miller 08 is definitely a vast improvement on miller 07. Does one dare for an evern better Miller 09 ?? I actually think he will. He appears more comfortable playing footy and I mean playing it..not playing AT it ! With another solid preseason and more of the Bailey influence I actually think he may flourish. Still only of the Good ilk ..but possibly very good. Some aspects of play are dictated by choices. Its not frosty's fault that often there was no one to kick it to save the bloke in the crowd holding the sign !! With better company on the pitch and more belief in his own creativity..im looking forward to watching him next year. (cant believe I just wrote that!! lol )

There may be better and longer answers to this..However. Keep in mind we were essentially born of the MCC. We are its child. We're family..Estranged, dysfunctional or rebelious , we are still cut of the same cloth. However it was deemed at some point for many reasons..and you need to delve into club history to learn all and relevance ) that we as a club ought walk on our own. No longer under the umbrella of the MCC and totally repsosinsible unto itself. Strangely enough we've NEVER really lived the high life since this moment. Been a bit of a struggle as they say. To answer your first bit is rather hard in any detail as none has been revealed. it seemes to indicate that instead of a stand alone club there is desire by the MFC to come back in from the cold and operate under the MCC in some way. How this would take form is anyones guess at this juncture. Im fairly confident that given its recent history that the MCC will not want to close a tie in case it then takes on financial responsibilites it really wouldnt want. There are however common grounds and interests to say nothing of History..We are in many ways the prodigal son. In something that rivals ( in a football sense ) the war of the roses it wil be intersting to see if indeed the MCC welcomes back its wayward child back into the ancestral kingdom. Many, myself amongst, would say this IS where Melbourne belongs. Instead of nomads searching the deserts for its spiritual oasis Melbournes heart is the MCC and its Winter Home..the MCG.. but to carry the theme further, there is nothing wrong with a Summer castle at the House of Casey !!! In the past we were part of the MCC. I cant see this happening in the same guise again. I can see a role as a working partnership by ways of letters of association and common purpose. There is Synergy between the camps that is simply going to waste at present. This ought to change and be exploited as much as possible. Should we all become happy families once more I think history would show that any resurgence of the mighty club is not acidentally associated with such a course !!

Talk about squirelled away... Good pick up !! The only worry is if Robbie DOES have his sights on Carlton, bu then it may only then be a mattter of swaying his view once "legitimate" lobbying time begins We can offer him I suspect the #1 role at Melb..as opposed to a supporting role anywhere else. It will be up to the CLUB to show him all the upsides of the club come next year. I'd be putting a certain Mathew Warnock front and centre in this Campaign !! Lyon Stynes Connolly and Bailey ..support roles !! lol If it comes down to Freo having any real say in this...then you would think we can trump anything Carlton has to offer. it needs to be shown to him: He will play a very important and primary role Melbournes facilities are coming along and will be vastly improved Melbourne as a club is resurging and not really the basket case others would have believe Ahh dont you love Trade week !! lol

To be quite frank..there are two issues here. The natural curiosity and interest of the sporty follower and the inclination of the club to want to keep it out of public knowledge. Whilst there is every intent of a Club to keep all this quiet it hardly comes under the national secrets etc. Part of being in a Publicly Viewed Competition is that the Public are going to want to know. It goes hand in hand..SO Whilst I can concur that if I was a club I would WANT it all kept under wraps I would have to also acknowledge that there is no rule that says it must. Just int the same way as a journalist wil want to root out and discover this kind of info, so might a genuinely interested follower of the game. Its just another of those games within a game. The club may have an Issue in that it probably doesnt want info disclosed...perfectly valid in outlook, but they play in a public domain and there will be public interest; LOTS !!

Demons seek MCC alignment and more cash from AFL Wouldn't this be nice back with our spiritual home.. safely behind gates where no bastard ( or Vlad) could touch us. Well truth be told nothing is that fortress like but it would make it incredibly hard to 'move' Melbourne Further down this heartening news , read and cheer people : "Better news for Melbourne — which will reinstate the Demon as its official logo next season " I wont spoil the rest of the read... Sky's looking bluer each day !! :D

G-O'd is a very cluey bloke..make no mistake..Am amazed Windless Hill didnt go with him instead of Knights to tell truth. Am not that overly impressed to date with our secondary coaches. I have no idea what Harvey is like as an educator etc..but there could be no uncertainty of his credibility as a player and thinker on the field. My daughter may even switch back to Melb then !! lol Schwarta did know how to play the pointy end of the ground.. and he could certainly show a few how to kick a ball... not something we have an exces of at Melbourne i would say !!

Scwabby starts full time come begiining of Oct. I cant imagine he would let anything slip if he can be involved prior to shore up negotiations..be rather remiss of him
-
Im wondering if Alwyn should possibly suit up for the Dees if that might end Valenti's short career with us. Does that put him ( V) on the trade block ?
-
What Carlton want is one thing.. What Freo want is another.. Only we can assure that they can get their way..not Calrton. Warnocks gone any which way..wont matter really where he goes to Freo .....other than who can HELP them !! Carlton cant despite any shenanagans !!
-
The question that addles me is.. Do we find a way to make Warnock a certainty and simply take which ever is there at 3 ? Given all are good prospects !! Or do we want the 1st chance more ?? Which path gives us the better dividend ?
-
This actually has some curry to it..that is ..dont label him the #1 draft pick..If we could somehow KNOW that we would still get Watts, if indeed thats who we are after, then picking up Warnock if that was the bonus would be great. How often do things worrk out liek this though I wonder ??
-
For the moment I will put aside the "Carlton" effect..or the the magnetsism that is Visyble at princess park and have a littel look at how all these numbers stack up Now as I understand it we have Demons 1 17 and 19 amongst early picks..aslo teh coveted #1 in PSD Freo has 3 and 21 WestCoast has 2 18 and 20 Carlton has 6 and 24 Now..a couple of games are being played out amongst this. Theres the roundabout involving as we presume.. Natanui, Rich and Watts. We also have teh bun fight ( probably ) over Warnock. Again putting aside any underhandedness ( dangerous I know..but ...) I ask..Who wants what ? ( thats what not Watts..lol ) and who has currency to use. Its is assumed by many that we indeed want Watts..and that West ocast want Rich and Freo want Natanui. The beneift of being 1st is you obviously guarantee you get what YOU want !! no ifs buts or maybes. The question for this race is can we afford to deal away 1 for 3 , if that was to deliver Warnock ? The sidebar question to this is ..is it more beneficial to take a fix in the Ruck and take what we can with first round picks ..or do we want to sure up the draft picks ?? or as some suggest, can we do both. Both to me is risky but the dividends are wonderul..well do you feel lucky punk ?? just about sums up that avenue. it may worlk..it may come a cropper. How much does freo want to be #1 ? these and manyother questions wil be answered in the next episode of soap !! ( might be a bit old for some...lol ) Playing in a cinema next door is the epic.. "Look what Carlton brought to dinner " The Blues are keen on Robbie too. But can they afford to play their first round card for him ?? Arent to many good even drafts for a while. They are looking at a possibly window..do theyreally want to ( or can afford to ) use this card..now? Next offering is 24, then 40 If Freo trade 3 and Robbie for ! they are winning big time. They are losing Warnock no matter..but pick up first choice. if we could trsut what Freo and WCE are going to choose.. this may wel lbe the quickest way out of a jam. They win, we win.. both happy. Carlton need to offer pick 6 to have an offer in same league as us.. and then Freo have 3 6 and 21...not too shabby in this draft. Would Tanktown giive up first round pick ? This I cant see them doing..its a big big play and limits severely the effectiveness of there early shots in the draft. So does Melbourne offer Freo pick 19 ( not 17 ) for Warnock ??We then have 1, 17 and 35, Warnock in the bank and PSD#1 still to come !! Freo still has something for Warnock as opposed to nothing. Much will depend on what Freo think will happen at the outset of the draft..and whether Carlton really wants to play rough ( its very like them ). The X factor..is who actually nominates for the PSD..as this will colour the value of selections. piece of the proverbial really isnt it
-
Freo are a basket case. will lose their back up ruckman and not really be at that part of the rejvenation cycle to do much damage. West Coast will be in rebuild mode.. will struggle next year Port.. see nothing there to get excited about Essendon.. very mediocre with not a lot of upside. Will be blooding more kids. Will have punctuated success. We wont be as bad as many presume. With some of the better brigade to return and a decent preseason under their belts things will improve. Also as the footy dept cut a swaythe through the list..some who ned a kick up the arse will realise..its no plain sailing..they need to perform. We arent quite so bad..but in teh Keating vernacular.. this was the season we had to have !!

Jeff White and Adam Yze cut saves Dees $1 million
beelzebub replied to Mousey's topic in Melbourne Demons
He may not have contravened any clause of his contract. Being silly and being in breech are two different things !! <_< -
Oh contraire I seeit as pruning the deadwood. Well if not dead certainly well beyond their best blooms !! We ought to improve next year. Not by any earth shattering amount but incremental and surefootedly. maybe no higher than 12th..but certainly upward , well only direction to go now !! hehe

For me Bate is summed up as Talent and ability = YES Consistency = is as long and wide as that really. Very Jeckyl and Hyde...damn frustrating !!

I suspect ( again only speculate ) this is very much the vein of the siutation.
