( I'll just repost this from Other-Sports !! ) Well.... thats that then. I cant see how they can carry on really. hard to play when no points on offer. All in all its pretty heavy handed of the NRL.. Fine them..even remove exisitng points...but both premierships...come o !! Smells like theres a lot more than just "housekeeping" happening here. League is Soooooo parochial I dont think they ever quite recovered from a 'lowly' Melbourne team whipping their collective NSW-QLD bums. That would smart these myopic neanderthals. Of course Vlad would applaud it..lol.. hell the NRL is going to kil off its Melbourne competitor for him. Storm probably havent come anywhere near what Carlton have done over the years. Far more to this than meets the eye me thinks...

even the KOD finds it impossible to pick Richmond... how bad must they be !!! pmsl

Calls for Richmond to get priority picks before GC17
beelzebub replied to Rosso's topic in Melbourne Demons
you just dont like it that we played to minimise our wins...call it what you like.. go cry over there >>>>>>> The system is what it is..you dont like it..tough [censored] mate.. I , the club nor others with esteem made it up..the AFL did.. they created the field of play. you want us all to be martyrs to YOUR cause..no way. The AFL, again it was they, set up a situation whereby those ...etc etc.etc.. we all know the way it worked.. We , for a change played smart. We ( as a club ) took to the idea that all hell was .is about to let loose upon clubs bottomig out now and looking to rebuild.. , case in point Richmond. we headed calamity off at the pass, they didnt. We didnt make up this can of worms... we just did the the best we could. that irks some.. I dont know why, maybe it would have been better that we and not Richmond are the basketcase !! Is that your suggestion Roost It ?? if there are holes.. kindly point them out..and argue otherwise..substantiate your counter point..dont just say sooki sooki lala..its all rubbish -
North....North Island >>>>> lol... Wonder when Vlad wants to venture across the pond !!
-
Hmmm !!! some folk want to exclude our #1 pick at the expense of a never can quite make it NQR ?? Richmond..... do they even have a defense ??. This week they will be raw...and shorter. again...look at likely matchups. We can afford to do a Doggies style forward line and go for all round ability rather than abject adherence to height. I think Scully and Trengove might just have a day out this weekend

Calls for Richmond to get priority picks before GC17

To concede anything to Richmond now ...as a reward for inaction, stupidity and poor decisions would fly in the face of all the work that clubs like us have put in to get our selves straight and back on our feet and in the right direction. Were Richmond blind to the impending monster called AFL expansion ? Did they not see the writing on the wall that we were able to read and act by ? Richmond rolled the dice their way.... now they can reap from what they sow !! -
It bemuses me somewhat that JB is shocked and dismayed that that little puppy down the road hasnt re-signed, nor that Hawthorn supporter..or that Essendon supporter...or that footy figure or that other one. It somehow doesnt surprise me that these folk who think that many members havent re-signed believed all their own hype. The white knights appeared as real as any storybook and the bandwagon members have found other destinations for their sought after cash. North is a 'little club now. Their era of punching above their weight has moved on. The business acumen that once buoyed North no longer supports them. In short...and I hate to say it as i know many clubs existence is fragile but the Need for a North has passed. They had their chance and snubbed it... now the ferryman wants his fare. JB ought not be dismayed that they dont come to sign up now...he ought to ask who or what did in the first place. Smoke and mirrors JB....and now the mist is clearing

Calls for Richmond to get priority picks before GC17

YES, Richmond COULD have done exacty what we did... alas that are that hapless they couldnt organise a [censored] up at Fosters. Theyve had a much better bottom line for years and yet are stilll an absolute Basketcase. We took to the team with harsh reality and a scythe. Richmond didnt. Why exactly do they DESERVE anything ?? We suffered to get what we did. They had their 'plans'..now got a new admin..( with some stange ideas about reality to boot ) .. They arent th emost unsuccessful Vic club in the last 30 years for nothing !!.Its up to them..always has been. what are you therefore arguing having acknowledged there is no reality of a pick? -
the clue... look to Richmonds sqaud and likely match ups we wont want to give up ANY speed though the guts. Sylvia in could, emp..could allow Green to FF in lieu of uice whilst offering many more swap options though the game.. we are stil lvery much in improvisation mode.

Calls for Richmond to get priority picks before GC17

Quite frankly though I empathize with the plight of the toiges they aretheir own worst enemy. Opportunities have been squandered. We've had to work it out and so can they. Good luck in that but i love this club not theirs, it's up to you Richmond, get it right or perish ... No special drafts for you . -
all but Lions and Doggies are getable imho..

Thats a prety fair summation there. Jones's disposal sufers from either a lack of self belief..or worse... lack of inherent skill. This is his ONLY real downfall, but its damning. So much work and gutsy efort is brought to nought. Im not sure how he improves this..if he can he will rise to a very dmaging mid..if not...he wil lbe supplanted eventually by a younger upcomer with more strings to his bow. For all of Brents endeavours he can undo them in an instant with poor delivery and/or decisions. Possibly as the stress of winning becomes lesser he'll think better.. He has great onfield value though. Bruce...for every one good thing he does two bad.. Quite frankly the sooner he can be replaced the better for the team Russian continues to impress. I agree that trengove was really moredeserving of the #1 pick.. but it matters not if both evolve to elite. Jack seems off to a better more poised start.. Still these two are long termaspirations...and it matters little if Scully builds slowly ( ftm) Grimes.. nothing more to say..he's great Bennel needs to back up this week with a devasting surgical decimation of Richmond next week... and he might just do thatwith help fromRicky. Lacking a genuine Kp option we'll rely on the forragiing of these two for a little while to come. Juior is quite frankly surprising m.. happy to have such Welcome back Col. and dare I say it we need the other Col too.. Chip, stalwart Bail... belive a little more son....take them on !! and the 23rd appraisal Bailey.. starting to show form, more aggression towards the opposition is paying off. Timeliness is improving. B+ ( still room for improvement)

might we review the Crows game first ????
-
wasnt there something earlier this week about Goodwin not playing ? Must have missed whatever transpired to change this ..
-
I'm not so sure we will necessaily see another debacle, to that extent. Much might be due to "opening night" nerves. But I will agree with the OP that 1) we took a positive step 2) the need for consistency 3) that won't happen overnight Team and coach to be applauded for the weeks work ... Now for next week ... and the next
-
As weve not a full shopping cart to pick from we might be better to see who inded we need to match up on next week. Depending on how the Crows fare that might decide the fate of a Demon or two. For what its worth Bruce can play a good close in role defensively but he has to be the worst handballer this club has had. HBA ought to sponsor him !!..He has no sense at all about disposals in a crowd. He should have been dropped many games ago to get that point through. Never quite been the same since "that " game.. But he wont be. Bennel needs a good talking to. Bate's indanger of becoming the new 4-6...thats 4-6 weeks til he brings his A-game. On song hes great.. but its an iffy bet at the moment. Again will wait to see who the likely opposition is before selecting/deselcting
-
Suffice to say the matchups and postioning was far better this week.. and yes..some players turned in a much better performance..possibly due to a huge kick up the arse. Again..if thats coaching..then good on Bailey. Contrary to some's thinking..I actually want him to be a successful coach..and in turn Melbourne a successful. team. what I dont want to see is any acceptance of mediocrity nor 'fate'. As another has alluded...next week becomes very interesting on many levels.. Go Dees
-
Beaten by the umps...certainly not a better team !! cant wait for Eddie to whinge about it though. well done Dees..( well most of you...a couple ...and they will know who they are) ought to be very sheepish about basking in any Melbourne praise
-
What has happened in this context is he has learnt..and applied some much better thinking. Kudos for that.....but thats what hes supposed to do..isnt it ? He's pulled his finger out and got the litel grey cells fired up. Hes going to need to keep at it..and at it. A much better coached game... but like last week.. one game is NOT a season.
-
Yes I am serious. Shove your dismissiveness where it might fit. Lyon observes the obvious that Bailey is chopping and changing far too much with little to show for it. I do agree though .. Hope Dean read it 11
-
Yep we ought to know by 2.40 exactly where this season is going.
-
Welcome to the frustration lol Some good observations there, many here would agree we need to play a KISS style and build there-on. That must have been some childhood Yep, can be hard getting to games and only Manage 3 or 4 myself. I just consider my membership as a donation like most youd consider any victory against the filth as extra sweet but might be a tad sour today ... Still we can always hope go Dees
-
What's frustrating is we all see what's going wrong and the various answers are there e.g. Lyons suggestions but will this be done? I can't fathom some of DB thinking
-
Im surprised Ht that you cant understand some basics...possiblythatlofty perch !! Of course its a litmus test...you do understnand what thats means?? it describes one of three outcomes. Either things have been adressed by the coach(s) and a different ferocity and intent is used to play the game...or we could play worse.. hard to imagine..or it remains the same. Maybe Bails has to get more inventive...so far his setups are a recipe for losing.. he might need to bring in others and /or to new and furhter experiments with positions.. He was more than capable to do this in order to lose.. lets see him do it to win!! When the going gets tough...well you know... lets see him get going..
