  1. oh well.. cheers
  2. just a thought...as it appears , the new front page shows thre collumns..all fine.. showing the ranked threads...all fine.. However the link goes to the first post... Any chance of including a link to the last post. This is much better when your trying to follow things. You can always scroll back a few posts but its cumbersome when having to start at post 1 , especially on a phone. just a thought
  3. Liam Jurrah is made of something a little diferent to many a young man. Here's a man steeped in lore and responsibility and the recognition of not just his own community but his adopted one. He if respected wil return it in kind. barring the unthinkable he will remain a one club player despite any oter clubs advances. Liam would be the first to tell you all signigs and rewards are to be earnt. He'll put it in..we'll keep him signed.
  4. youre welcome
  5. I know its a bit early in the year to be agreeing with you but that pretty well sums it up. Many I fear got a little carried away with the perpetuating hype surrounding some of our guys. What Watts can and will be time only will tell. Trengove looks the goods right out of the box..( thankyou so much Jordan ) We already know Liam is destined for celestial status and Scully has all the ingredients to cement himself into the next Demon team of lore. Half a dozen or so 2-3 year players will it seems be likely to take the next step...and all this bodes well. I think we supporters ought to just take heart that the powers that be at MFc are taking a longer term approach and not looking for instant gratification. If these guys that are touted as the next best things only climb to half their potential we we still have a very servicable team.

  7. Rome wasnt built in a day !!
  8. there ya have it folks...the voice of reason nothing left to be said
  9. Just as an aside..the injury may not be to teh back at all..but the quad as mentioned..a case of referred pain etc.. As others suggest Im sure the medicos have it well covered.
  10. speaking as one whos had a reoccurring back problem since I was 17... I wouldnt be doing either push ups or sit ups.. Push up will have your back in compression..sit ups th eopposite really..Sit ups will be less traumatic depending upon what sort of sit up. Again. He cant have anything majorally wrong to be doing those. Having said that..Its invariably best to keep your body and especialy your back moving..that is if its particulalry muscular.. Skeletal... I dont know..would have fthought imobilisation is preferable over risked stress. If muscular ...continued treatment and controled eercise will bring it around..just takes time Im affraid.
  11. What we want is team where as many players are fighting fit as possible THROUGHOUT the season, not just at the start of the NAB. Let's see which club best manages. It's list though the season
  12. you double posted..thats all..
  13. My tack onthis would be to start as you mean to finish. We need cohesion in our team and shared games in those legs. The more they play 'under fire' together the beter they will become. This must be getting close. I like the idea of Grimes still playing around the half back lie but thatmight simply be from fallinng back with play and then driving it forward. He's very cluey and an intelligent user of the ball. Our backline looks pretty good. we have enough starters and some depth..bodes well. Garland will add that extra dimension allowing better matchups. Last year was a bit of a mish mash.. but it did serve a cause ; various some might say. Others will be used off of the pine iin a sort of relief/rotation role
  14. Thanks for that post.. quite enlightening. And still it adds tothe frustration..lol. I amprobably not alone in thinking ( despite all his shenanagans of previous times ) that he is only just a breath away from steeping up on the dias after stamping "Col Sylvia" all over a game... Proof he can sits in the stats above...so one can only take it that there's another element, another defining quality o his game that he needs to work on...in the old days we called it "polish" Stats wontsay how acurate those inside 50's were. Yes 30% onflowed to goals but how much work was required by those accepting th ekick etc. Im not trying to get clever or pedantic just trying to extrapolate the data into a context. Over the years Ive noticed Col can deliver two types of kicks.. Some are sublime..and the rest just an arms reach away from being so. ( the occasionsal duffer not withstanding ) He sems to play games in either cruise mode...or really switched on. If he can maintain the "on" for 4 quarters he wil truly arrive and the armchair skeptics ( I too once a paid up member) can rejoice in a prestige player in Red and Blue. I dont really count intra's as a real formguide. You never really going to take out your own team mate......its a peripheral indicator at best. we will know what sort of Sylvia we have when the real footy starts. Hopefully the fully focussed professional turns up as that might just shut a lot of us up!!! gladly
  15. Garland ?
  16. As far as im concerned he still has it to do. Im just taking a glass half full approach at the moment. Has he played like his RSA year since ?? No !! will he ?? I hope so. Have always said that. what Ive qualified it with is he is over rated based upon his efforts of recent years. His "promise" was of an outstanding player ( defender ) one stellar year does not a star make ( in actuality ) My concern has always been with his injuries. A good pre-season is really very encouraging and I sincerely hope this continues into the season proper and he can regain his former pro-ess. Should he falter there are any of a number of players that will nudge him aside and that will be his lot. Im not convinced..but as hopeful as any other Dee supporter that he can contribute...if not him ...someone else as I really dont care who it is..its a team thing for me. i can still wish him well..and be qualified by his past form. My acknowledgement of his quote serves really to show just how young we ( MFC ) are..as he said. he reminds me of a startling good racehorse...full of ability and potential...but constantly curtailed by form. Good job they dont shoot footy players !
  17. says a lot about us in just one sentence. Good luck Jared ....strange from me I know...but hey.. you're a Dee...and go DEES !!
  18. yep..got ya the first time...lmao on serious note ( F#) Our defence IS our best component...Has been for a few years. If we can refine and supplement it and continue to grow its gnarlyness (should there be such a word0 then this will be our lynch pin of success for some years. Whilst out midfield develops into a serious outfit and forwards tighten up and hurt the scoreboard then our defence will again be needed to take hits whilst containing damage. On a brighter there are still a handful to slot in there should injury or redeployments require...thats good
  19. thanks for all of the above and your genuine good wishes.. mate Im Married to not just a Colingwood supporter...but a Collingwood family...half my friends are bloody Collingwood.. It just worked out this way.. No, theres a quite a few decent maggies and actually will be sitting amongst a bunch of them come round 2 !! lol Appreciate you can not only see an improvement in us but can be unbiased enough to let us know. Were hopeful too !!! now, we shall resume normal relations.. Go DEES....boo the filth !! hehehe >:~)) Bbub
  20. Yes i'm on record about having serious misgivings re Rivers but just in case he should turn back the clock and indeed come out afresh and firing then it will definitely add a dimension to an already fine backline possibly allowing Grimes some largesse to impose further upfield during play. Can't allowmyself anymore enthusiasm than that though, too many false dawns !!!
  21. Now the Sqawkers I won't underate but we certainly will have a better game of it than previous season openings
  22. A problem for freo will be as the kids really come on the older vets be be hanging up their boots they would be better off rebuilding utising whatever currency that could be had for pav and sandilands.
  23. Without resurrecting a cyst many care ignore let's just say we particularly underachiever last year. Freo achived exactly what they were capable of. Not a lot has changed for them as compared with us. Harvey couldn't arrange for drinks let alone a winning game day strategy. Where is all this quantum leap of freo improvement originating from ?
  24. done ...sweet !!!
  25. Then indeed it would say more about us than them as they simply arent much; half a dozen players and a coach who cant !!
