yep...its sort of high up from the road. I digress..lol

Despite what many might feel, Matty would offer a mature body with resilience for an undermanned Suns backline. Hes not brilliant but is more than handy. GC will be wanting to stop some of the haemoraging that occurs and Warnock might offer something in this regard. Its an interesting suggestion. Im not sure Toy is quite living up to expectations but hey..who ever does. All part of the circus.

The AFL couldnt give a toss about the 'spirit or intent' of its rules. It's only concerned with outcomes. It wants what it wants. The House of Shonky aka AFL house is more concerned about how things look than how things actually play. Its known about al the loopholes since day dot because it wrote the rules with the intent of allowing manipulation to take place, probably even 'off-the -record' encouraging it. In looking at all this we mustnt lose sight of the AFL's objective. Its to win in the heartland of NRL at all cost. All things , people and clubs are or can be collateral damage in this pursuit. Before any go dismissing this as conspiracy stuff just look at what has transpired to date. How much bending of rules or outright disregard for them has already happened. GWS have been operating outside the rules since its inception. Even when caught it just gets pushed over.Unbelievable really. Do people think its by accident that Gubby and Sheedy are the string pullers entrusted to shape and press-gang a GWS into existence ? No its because they are reknown for going outside the square. As some suggest it would have been very simple to write tight rules. But they didnt, they didnt want them tight. Rule number 1...dont trust the AFL. All subsequent rules follow from understanding Rule #1.

You having a bob each way there Lutz?? you liked what Wj wrote , which sugests a different format and a shorter period and then you write the opposite. This is a classic example of you expand something and people wil find ways to fill the void. Theres a lot of crap that could be cut from this. Much of what goes on actually starts months ago. Only a nong would consider it ALL happens in the actual trade week. Yes there are instances of deals that emerge form seemingly nowhere but they would always occur irrespective of how long the 'week' is. Do people seriously suppose the phones stop ringing and coffees arent had 'after hours' In short theyll use the whole 8 days because theyre there. Theyd do it in 3 if thats all they had also.

I too was bemused and disappointed tosee the trade period extended, and for why ? Some argue its too allow consultation and the toing and froing but the reality is everyone just goes off on their tangent and it all gets murky. A shorter period would have focussed everyone to the task at hand and cut most of the bullsh!t. Funny how hte AFL can 'fix' thiings when it suits

Kind of funny in a way . The AFL was happy enough if other clubs got dudded provided it was in line with Vlads grand scheme but Vlad doesn't like it when the same underhandedness is played against Vlad himself. Got to begrudgingly admire the Dwarves.... they're bloody crafty lol

The AFL today ln Tianjin ""THE LEAGUE'S push into China has been strengthened by Tuesday's launch of a purpose built AFL oval in the northern city of Tianjin. The $1.5 million project, which is a collaboration between the City of Melbourne, the AFL and the Melbourne Football Club, has produced the first oval of its kind in the Chinese city."" Okay...who knew about this ?? lol Whats our involvement ? Are we playing another exhibition game ? I kind of like the potential of al lthis. Weve discussed ad infinitum al lthis in previoou sthreads in previous years but this is after all real. Can anyone provide some deeper information ? >:~)) cheers

Given we are Victorian....its a "Mexican" stand-off of sorts perhaps. What our ( mfc) fall bak position then, surely not to delist as he must then walk into draft. its very strange Happy for him to stay , provided the right attitude and a dose of reality. He is a good ( ne very good ) player on his day, when unencumbered.

Keep in mind the present whereabouts of a certain D B !! B) thered be a certain irony in all that.

Ive been bitterly dissappointed with his journey at Melbourne. Some his doing, or lack of , other is just fate. I still remember a game at Sandy where he turned Goddard ( yes the same one ) inside out and upside down despite his size and weight disadvantage. I thought gee this guys got something. I still do but I'm buggered as to know where its gone. Sometimes things aren't meant to be I guess, more the shame. I wish him well at his next club.

Its not bashing to expect players to perform to a standard and be held accountable when they dismally fail. Some are held to the bar others are put above itbecause thats where theyd expect people to place them. Having done so Brad's star is sorely dimming. I really dont understand all the hero worship that goes on in football. I , like anyone can marvel at a spectacle and addmire real talent and ability but they are just footballers. They are a priveledged lot getting to do somethign they love ( id suppose, I mean to they do it under durres?) and get incredibly well remunerated for it. Theyre not our mates, theyre not some good bloke down the local footy club they are professionals. Those who seek to extract a living by some craft will be asked to do it properly and when you dont you will be castigated. . Those who suggest some here are merely bashing might have very short memories. Some of us dont. I expect a lot more from not only anyone wearing the Melbourne jumper but especially someone given the honour of captain. They themselves ought to feeel thoroughly ashamed of their efforts and be volunteering to give it back and make amneds by better efforts in the following season. This ought to be a gaiven , not somethign that needs be debated and painfully extracted.. Brad is very capable, Brad is no shirker but hed be amongst the most , how shall we put it, most 'casual' of players at times..Hes not alone , but this thread is about Brad. Players are not above reproach, they arent gods. Some tend to the sooki sooki lala diva when brought to task. Imnot suggesting Brad is but hes had his diva moments. Hs the one whos been happy to place tickets on himself come previous contract times . As they say , be careful of what you do or say lest it come back to bit you on the bum.
-
Seems somewhat odd actually given the timewe're in , i.e trade week, that theres no pick up in the media of Brad's out of contract status. Normally theyd home in on such a juicy morsel. Very strange, not a word from anyone or anywhere..Its like it exists in a different football dimension.

Geez, a bit rich. Youd want to be getting another 2nd rounder from somewhere as 51 isnt going to much chop this year. You would really want a good deal half in the bag using 6 as well.. Its interesting though..Not perfect..but interesting.

Saints must trade to fix salary cap I wonder how this might affect things in a knock on manner. StKilda doesnt really want to nor really afford to lose anyone of merit, but they might not have as much choice in the matter as theyd like.

would North now qualify as well???
-
Ill ask it as someone will. Could he do it ? or would the rabble cry another job for the boys ? I now only want the best man for each job. he might be it.. who knows..thats the question. Why would Lovett having knocked back a full time job at Sandy then take one up at Melbourne ?

conspiracy ? If one was to ask does the AFL have its Agenda(s) ? Youd be living on Mars not to know it has. Does Vlad have a history of moving Goal posts to suit ? You betcha. Funny I posted a thread some years ago that essentially suggested that this is exacatly the modus operandi and a reason Melbourne struggled at times as it came down to inconvenient timing in our respect. We, like a few others are victims of the overt 'expansion' and world domination that seems to be Vlads desire. Many laugh at al this, and yes some can be rightly questioned as possibly blinkered but to omuch happens with 'strange ' results to dismiss all out of hand.

The element you may be mistaking for luck is fitness. But luck ? Hes had many opportunities over his journey to ramp up his play , to deliver but he invariably doesnt. How is the an element of luck in this. He has his chances and squanders most. Nothing to do with luck..Its to do with whats between his ears. I simply dont think he has the ticker for AFL. What a waste

2011 Player Review - # 13 Jordie McKenzie
beelzebub replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is a man you want in the trenches and the tight clinches. Im sure Neeld will like this guy as he represents much of how Melbourne OUGHT to go about its business. FULL ON !!
