Just as an aside why would ppl presume we have no idea as to whats possibly on the radar next year. Recruiters and spies are looking at more than the 17 and 18 yos..they also look at the other under agers ..the 16 yo olds and the mature boys as well.. Given the nature of how picks transcend drafts and its not any one year in isolation anymore I think the clubs playing a fairly effective bat.

I agree as it happens. But, and this is the kicker that counts, it aint happened yet. Hawthorns has and theres a distinct appeal for the many to be where its actually happening, not where it might. This will change but for now we still a bridesmaid.

I suppose the one thing in our favour atm is that Freo havent been able to stitch up the deal yet. Considering they were big on this from before the week its now Thu and nothing. Might have been a good ploy by Lyon ( R ) to scare off other suitors. I dont hink though that the Lions appreciated being told what was going to happen. Its 'money' ...you spend money. Its not as though wed spend ALL our money here, jut some. The FD probably has in mind how mnay actual selections it might ( or need ) to make come the actual draft as to the rest its al lthere to be spent on the best deals able to be got..And that means real deals , and means deals WE can get. Why Hawthorn ? Ahh, it might be tempting for some to get all maudlin or dramatically pessimistic about our circumstances and where we stand in the great scheme of things. If we pare it back however and just look at it mercilessly and see us as others might then we really have much to prove. Weve been the perennial 'gunners' for a long while. Were the keeper of false dawns , the purveyors of football snake oil; Roll up Roll up , this is going to be the year...etc etc etc. Compare that with the relative recent history of Hawthorn where theyve demonstrated success and the vigour to rebound. Theres an air of Can-Do about Hawthorn that we just cant lay claim to yet. We , quite rightly ( ) cant understand why anyone would want to play for any other team but strangely not all see it that way. Hawthorn is a top 4 team. They will stil be up there next year. So as a young kid looking to go somewhere, and with no particualr allegiance then you might just overlook us , and they have. We have much do do and prove and then we wil lbe a club players will choose, when choice is on offer. As they say...we just need to suck it up and do something about it.......its called winning B)

So much of this seems like an esteem problem of sorts. Some just want to be able to say , yep we got one too . We got one of those kids.. hey ,shhh, we paid a little bit too much , snigger -snigger b ut we got 'im !! This is not about going to the show and getting a showbag just because someone else did. You go to the show, do what YOU need/want to and work to your agenda, not someone else's. No one else has OUR list...so we need to do what we need to do.
