would it really be 400 after expenses ?? I sense theres a false economy about al this. Does the actual return outweigh the down? I just dont think it does in the regular season. what price 4pts ?.. esp if that was the dif between 9th and 8th ? my understand also is that its a 100k over whatever. So if we still got a smal lreturn form Port at the G we stil lget the 100 on top.. Happy to be corrected.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
beelzebub replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Luck was thatthere was a right place and right time to be had... i.e an opportunity presented ( that really oughtnt have ) I wont take anythigng away from the tenacity and aptitude of the club to create a reality out of it. Luck happens !! -
very much so. I find it worrisome to a degree that its being so easily dismissed or overlooked. The Darwin game will in actuallity impact the next two.

there are no byes thers only a mid season split, byes only occured so prevalently in 2011 as result of 17 teams..there are now 18

instead of the big dollars he chased for and got at Melbourne

with respect... we ought to have the attitude that any game, is a game we can win

Funny ...I thought wed just jettisoned the manner of acting like second stringers. Thought we looked to be taken seriously. Quite frankly no ones whos serious in this competition will go there.for a 4 pt game.. There are no round by round byes anymore in2012.. the only break occurs mid season and wont in all likelyhood coincide with our venture north. We'll probably be stuffed or flat for the folliwing week.. yeah ..great idea. Sorry..this is a backward step for Melbourne after many positve strides forward

Collingwoods an 80 million operation...dont see them up there. Dont try such a simplistic overtone Rpfc.. There are obviosuly many other revenues occuring for Melbourne.. used to conditions ?? lol.. no one is used to those conditions. .You are deluding yourself if you think we or anyone is. . other than the locals and I repeat..they DONT play that time of year.

Personally happy for the club to do off season games and promos . But last time I looked we're called Melbourne not bloody Darwin. To me it still smacks of desperation and I thought we had moved on from that. The locals dont play footy up there when its scheduled for us so how mad are we ?? Kudos to the Toiges. I thought we were getting smart about things.

2011 was not Aarons most shining moment in his career. Hopefully 2012 sees him spring back with fresh verve and revitalised . On song is nothing less than a dazzling potent weapon. Off key............. hes 2011. Heres to 2012.

Newman...... or Kramer ??

I think the Tigers have done the right thing. Am not particularly a fan of real , premiership season games played to a detriment. We need to have passed this.

With all due respect a team ought not really focus on any ONE person. It ought to encompass the abilites and styles that say Jurrah and Watts already have. Incorporate the likely tall target style big forward presence of Clark. A team invariably falls down when only one road to goal is emphasised. They become to easy to play against. We have a number of goal kickers. Jurrah, Watts, Green, Sylvia , Howe , Moloney, Petterd, Martin. Even Dun came up with 16 ( from 11) and Trengove. We now add Clark to this mix. What needs to occur is the midfield must become more prevalent in loading up opportunities for any and all of the above. Jurrah is mecurial in making somethig out of nothing, others need a more traditional approach to goal..lol We need a non-static type of forward set up. We simply need options. If al lare well rehearsd and drillled . If they learn more about requisite and effective structures and where anyone is likely to be then chances will present and goals will be kicked. A bit like the Gopher Whacker game. We have to make sure that no matter which way a defense tries to cover us there is always something popping up.. I believe we now hve sufficien talent to do this well.

Probably the find of the year for us, hiding in plain site..lol Certainly adds flexibility to the line up. Wil be very interesting to see how and where Neeld uses him in 2012. Very versatile Well done Stef.

Would be interesting to know how they go out Casey way on footy jumper day at schools. I.e are we having an impact ? Its funny ...was just stretching ht eol grey cells. and trying to remember how many red and blue jumpers I even saw in my days at school. ( primary) and even then they werent numerous. . Talking 65-70 here

Im not really sure how you can suggest its anything but. 2010 despite the same 8.5 wins as 2011 had more games with wins against better teams. We stood -1 point nett against the eventual Premiers after two games. We set a record agaisnt Sydney. 2011 two wins were charity againist newbies. We had a record set AGAINST us and finished with near 10 % less. In 2012 i'd like to think we'd at the very least get back to 2010 form if not a step or two beyond.

Hadnt thought about the airlines bu twith Emirates at the Filth and given our hard work developing a Chinese connection it would be a greta fit. Theyve even got a bit of a red and blue thing happening !!lol Doesnt surprise me. They arent a patch of their once great self. Very ordinary airline living off yesterday. But they still call Australia home ...? bar a lot of servicing and ownership , and crews. Any how possibly a discussion for another day..lol, in some other thread.

No..not quite..thatwould be ultimate metric. I simply meant winning. Dice and slice this game any which way and some and it all comes back to being a game of two sides seeking to win. One does, the other doesnt. Many indicators merrely observe the likelyhood of winning. They have merit unto themselves but we go out to win. I hope we do.
