The Front Bar
Great to see the wiz goal of the year again. Kozzie was a bit shy but I didn't like it when he was asked about his old man designing the jumper this week and he responded by saying it was great honour / gesture from "the team I play for". Would have loved him to say the Dees or Melbourne football club. Kudos for putting himself out their completely outside his comfort zone but it would have been nice if he mentioned his love for Melbourne when given the opportunity like Petracca did today. Hopefully I am overacting to it. Their media skills are about as far as apart as their kicking efficiency.

VIVE LA DIFFÉRENCE by The Oracle
It's funny all those stats we have come roaring back into elie in are the ones we dominated in 2021 our premiership year. As @binman (and i) have said repeatedly you need to play to your strengths and the new game plan is just another string to the bow not our solution. We can't compete at elite and precision kicking there is no point taking on teams with that when we are not elite at it. We can compete with our old strengths back, a little less predictability and a few kids like Langdon, X and Windsor who can kick.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
IF we make the finals anything can happen when Gawn is playing. Every other club wonders why they always kick it to Max. Part of the reason is because players like Sharp , Sparrow and Spargo that are much meligned cover ground to block a switch and force the opposition to kick down the line. It might not be our year but when you have Essendon death riding you, every win is important

What they're saying down at Vulture Street

Reasons for our Inaccuracy?
I hate it when players do a snap shot over their shoulder from short distance , little angle, set shot, but I wish Max would try it. He can't do worse.

TRAINING: Monday 12th May 2025
Just a question for all the track watchers is Oliver better at tagging or soccer?

CLARRY IS NOT A TAGGER
I lost faith in Clarry for the first time ever on the weekend for somebody I consider the top 3 demons I've seen in my lifetime and I'm old. Until... It became apparent he played a tagging role in Viney's absence (wtf did we trade Harme's who plays that role much better than both of them) I have faith in one of the greatest Demons I have ever seen. A tagging role doesn't suit him but according to Goody he requested it. He is not unfit. Somebody needs to just tell him 2 things that made him the best player in the league for years See ball get ball If it's going to be it's up to me Oliver plays on instinct and competiveness we just need to ingrain that back into him

CLARRY IS NOT A TAGGER
I've said it in so many posts previously I can't work out what Sparrows role is. He is a deceivingly good over head mark, big bodied and a reasonable kick but doesn't get much of the footy. He is no ANB or now Sharp than run all day and block opposition attacks. He is not damaging and involved in score involvements. He is an automatic selection every week but I often wonder why. He is obviously doing whatever he is instructed to do but what is it?

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
I seem to be the only poster on Demonland who thought Fritta's aggression and pressure was much improved today. His kicking for goal his been diabolical all year. He kind of reminded me of Billings today who i expected to be soft but at least be a good kick at goal and then delivers the opposite. Fritta was hard at it and putting on pressure but has lost his weapon by foot.

4th Quarter blues
Does anyone have Adelaide's stats on last q's?

My 3 word player analysis V Hawthorn
JVR - great backup ruck JVR - Not a forward JVR - only hope backline Langford - star in making X - incredibly clever player Bowey - obvious connection solution Kozzie - keep all costs

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
Everyone keeps saying don't play Oliver until he is fit. Last year when he came back after 1/4 of a pre-season before he broke his hand he was charging up and down the ground crashing into anyone who got in his way. This year he's done a full preseason, his pre-season from all reports he was gut bust running and fit as he has ever been. Fitness isn't the problem, he looks lazy at times but it's not fitness. He had explosive pace back again against Fremantle. His quick hands are back but he just doesn't see ball get ball anymore and have the win at all costs mentality. I think that will come back quickly. Anyway Langford is a genuine superstar in the making and X isn't far behind and they can both use the footy

Kolt's speed charts are enormous. He is energetic and a good kick. I think his reaction time and awareness are really poor

Gawn's goal kicking from close
I'm sorry if this has been written before. Gawn's goal from just outside the goal square after the siren against Geelong in the final round to make us minor premiers is one of the greatest moments i have experienced as a Melbourne supporter. But I don't reckon he has kicked a goal within 30m since. I hate it when Petracca and others take snap shots from close range directly in front from close range but could that be the answer for Max? It's embaressing one of the greatest Demons ever just pulls the ball left every close range shot he has and misses. Should he try snapping it from close range like lots of other players do from close range rather than a drop punt? He can't do worse

The Next CEO
Hopefully he puts tariffs on Collingwood. In all seriousness in my limited dealings with him he wont rub sponsors and stakeholders the wrong way like our previous CEO. He has good business acumen and is a thoughtful businessman with strong connections and a brilliant networking ability. I didn't see this appointment coming but can see the upside. As for potentially not stating until September because of current commitments I see that as a positive. Loyalty is rare these days and it seems he doesn't want to just jump ship and leave the chamber in the lurch until he has followed through with his commitments. His position on the Victorian Racing board is intriguing with Caulfield on our agenda. Time will tell but I think this could be a brilliant left field decision

Road to the Finals
I dont ever see much about Ben Crowe on here. He is the best mindset coach in the business and that's what we need. Goody, Clarry and Trac will only benefit from him. We won the first 10 games straight in 2023 but that's not how you win a premiership look at Sydney last year. Peak at the right time with the right mindset and do damage
