Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
Wrecker45 replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a very good theory on why indigenous players have freakish kicking ability, that I can back with scientific research. I’m waiting for Yze to come back before I approach the club with it. He was kickicking coach at the greatest kicking team ever. Yze come back. -
The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy

A winning culture takes precedence over winning a single game. Some sentiment is culture building. -
The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy

You can’t trade Jones. I note in the herald sun today all 5 pundits had Hodge not only in the best team of the last 20 years but all 5 had him captain as well. Hodge left Hawthorn a legend with nothing more to give Jones is a warrior of Melbourne and stood by us. As a leader he hasn’t achieved. He can’t leave to pass on his wisdom because his wisdom hasn’t achieved anything at Melbourne. All he has is loyalty but we need to respect that. -
The Hogan deal was unique. He is/was a unique talent but had off field issues bubbling away in the background and an injury ravaged history. The presser wasn’t a bluff Bell was genuinely walking away but in the end MELBOURNE wanted to do the deal Hogan wanted to do the deal, Freo needed a forward and players like Hogan don’t fall in your lap very often.

He lost it when he lost his mullet. Grow it back and i’d consider.

I think most on here couldn’t care less about the romantic notion of him coming home and would be more concerned about getting someone who has worked closely with Clarko. But his ties to Melbourne are what could draw him back. I went on the Daniher Drive last year to raise money for MND and Oooze was there with a host of other past players including Neitz. I can tell you the bond is strong.

You can’t trade Oliver. I do believe every player is tradeable for the right price. It’s just no club can afford him / offer a realistic trade. Viney is father son that addressed leadership issues from the moment he arrived and drives standards across the club. He is feared by opposition when his body holds up. Brayshaw is a favourite of mine and I think his kicking misfortune is more to do with what is ahead of him ie. our structures than his poor use. Of the 3 only Brayshaw could be traded and that is doubtful with his concussion issues meaning we wouldn’t get what a player with his output deserves. One thing often neglected in these threads is the lack of players wanting to leave MELBOURNE. We wanted Hogan out and had to push Watts out kicking and squealing. List management has many facets but keeping key personal is vitally important if not the most important factor. Particularly, in the age of free agency where you can lose or gain serious talent for nothing but salary cap space.

I’d do it just for Goodies press conferences. We’d “transition” from not being able to connect to not being able to convert.

I’ve heard bulldogs are in to him and have offered him more midfield time. Not sure how credible.

GAMEDAY (the ultimate): Rd 23 vs North Melbourne
Wrecker45 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope we lose. Richmond got disgraced in the final round by Sydney and went on to win a premiership the following year. Richmond sacked all the assistants and backed in Hardwick. Today is the beginning of an era. -
Any chance of getting a Clarkson clone?
-
I heard Max say on MMM he personally turned up in tip-top shape and had a Stella preseason BUT he is part of the leadership group and needs to make sure he takes another 40 blokes with him. He’ll be focused on that this time around.

Out: Gawn, Lever In: Pruess, Jordon

I like the look of Tom Green he’s already out for 4 2 6 next season. He is the perfect fit. -
What would it take to bounce back in 2020?
Wrecker45 replied to Little Goffy's topic in Melbourne Demons
An assistant coach who has coached under Clarkson. -
In: May, Hore out: don’t care let’s beat Collingwood then rest everyone who has event a hint of a niggle for the rest of the season
-
Neither are the umpires.
-
I hope he does become our Selwood.

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"
Wrecker45 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I blame Daniher. Up and down every year for injury factors set us up for this. The same demonland posters back then would have been complaining about the coaching rather than acknowledging the injuries we had to key players on our list. it’s funny how we bounced back every second year with the same coach when we got our good players on the park. -
I hope it is if the yo-yo goes high enough.
-
There is reason for denial there is no reason to call fellow demonlanders turd polishers.
-
Genuinely asking in case I was missing something. We really need to get an assistant who has had a good stint under Clarkson.
-
Do we have anyone on our coaching panel that has coached under Clarkson?
