  1. Teams that perform badly don’t provide ā€œopportunities for the new entrantsā€. The new entrants just win enough games to make the finals. It is easier these days for the ā€œnew entrantsā€ as well because the draw is designed so no finalists from the previous year play each other more often.
  2. I’m as excited about Kozzi as anyone but don’t be surprised if it is Chandler or Bedford that are providing the manic pressure in our forward line. Don’t forget Chandler had 5 tackles on debut before getting injured. Jordan will be pushing for midfield selection too so competition for spots will be greater than it was in 2018 when we finished 4th.
  3. I never understand this line of thinking, if we win enough games we will make the 8. The other 7 teams that win enough games will also make the 8. Picking which team(s) will drop out of the 8 has no bearing on us making it.
  4. Hopefully he advises against starting the captain on the bench.
  5. Expect one or more of Petty, Jordan, Chandler or Bedford to be core players by finals time. They are all coming through together and are setting the bar higher that previous recruits in the same age bracket.
  6. It wasn't one of my better posts. I was trying to say the injury list / rehab group isn't as concerning as last year. Not just that the numbers are less but the importance of the players to our list missing sessions isn't the same either. Agree with the posters saying Tomlinson and AVB are in our best 22. Weid needs to prove himself this year. I bumped into him grandfinal night and he said his hips which have troubled him are "cherry ripe". He also looks broader and bigger in the training photos. I'm not sold but the stage is set for him to prove me wrong this season.
  7. I love Jones and he is a warrior for this club but it’s refreshishing to see not a single player in our best 22 on that list. Having said that Petty will be come finals.
  8. I’ve just heard that Petty, Chandler and Jordan are doing everything right off the field. No stone unturned. Jordan’s kicking skills and endurance could see him slot into our midfield nicely. With the depth we have next year i’m guessing if he forces his way into the side it’s because he is damaging by foot.
  9. If you want a good culture you send your best leader.
  10. He keeps his cards close to his chest but I sensed he is a lot more excited about Deakin Smith than Kobe Farmer or the young White boy.
  11. Oliver Viney Gawn Langdon Petracca May Salem Brayshaw Jordan Melksham
  12. As someone not quite 40 I was lucky enough to see Alan Johnson. A child of the 80’s I had his number on my back not Robbie Flower.
  13. Agreed. I’m still angry from that time Garland smiled at training.
  14. If you get the chance i’d be interested to know if they take into consideration the ā€œgo home factorā€ on a player by player basis if at all.
  15. Premiers: Melbourne Brownlow: Oliver Collingwood to fall out of the 8. Petracca to make the All Australian squad. Demonland to have a drop Tomlinson thread at some time during the season started by someone who doesn’t understand his role. Pickett to get suspended for a late bump on debut.
  16. Interesting you have Chandler on the bench in the seconds. Apparently he has been told if he has a good pre-season he is in the mix to play for the dees round 1. I haven't seen enough of him to have an opinion just what I have been told.
  17. Out of interest where did Jackson play for Australia? Was he point guard?
  18. I was hoping for a riddle
  19. I’ve heard we rate both Pickett and Weightman but if both available would take Pickett.
  20. 3 Jackson (I don’t want but gotta back them in) live trade because we want Pickett and can get him slightly later whilst improving our next pick. Weightman
  21. Hopefully they end up premiership mates.
  22. No he was talking about the new doctor at that point.
  23. Base on training reports, forward it is.
  24. Anybody got any idea who he is?
  25. I seem to recall reading a while ago the type of surgery Oliver had on his shoulders last year made them pretty much bomb proof and almost impossible to re-injure in same way again.
