  1. i'm personally hoping it's scott burns. he always looked far better in red and blue playing for the mighty legs than he ever did in black and white for the filth. time to show his heart beats true! (plus i always thought he was a terrific player.)
  2. Add those four to Nath Jones, Viney, Sylvia, Matt Jones, and hopefully emerging players like Toumpas, Kent, et al then all of a sudden we will have a midfield that is somewhat competitive.
  3. No, back to the beloved bosom of Mick at the Blues on a big, big money deal for 4-5 years.
  4. Rawlings, I like, so unless he wants to be the senior assistant... Which I wouldn't be opposed to. But my guess is Scott Burns for that one.
  5. Mathews on abc grandstand currently. Going to be a line coach for us after being development coach at GC17. Has been blown away by the enthusiasm Roos is showing for the role - compared him to an 18 year old arriving at an AFL club for the first time. Very impressive as you'd expect from someone who has previously been a commentator. Kennelly effusive in his praise for Roos, but no, he's not taking a role at the Dees.
  6. the biggest mistake with byrnes was taking him as a free agent, rather than waiting for him to become a delisted free agent. it grossly effected our compensation for losing two genuine free agents, rather than for a bloke who was about to get dropped from his then-club's list regardless.
  7. don't need to pay anything like that for him dee man; he's a restricted free agent. just gotta outbid the pies (and blues, clearly).
  8. also, wines is nothing like rich or palmer in terms of stature - he's actually tall, more like a josh kennedy, or dustin martin in terms of height, around 188-190. jimmy is a 'small' midfielder by comparison, around the 178-180cm mark.
  9. Chris Johnson, son of Alan, was another player who didn't make it. Bailey chucked a wobbly at him on the training track when he announced he was off to Carlton as well, I think?
  10. Roos is getting the old band back together! Everyone rates this guy. We're also into another ex Swan who's now at North.
  11. Would waltz into our best 22. He's always been fairly durable too, I think?
  12. hamish hartlett says hello. chronically injured in his first three of four years, but he's a natural footballer.
  13. Tinkerbell may have the biggest tackle in the AFL, but he's never laid one. Will be at Melbourne next year for sure...Port Melbourne.
  14. No priority pick and definitely no Scott Selwood is what I'm hearing - the latter may even be made captain of meth coke.
  15. wants to be back in south australia. can't see port adelaide being able to satisfy brisbane's demands, but a three-way deal involving melbourne is not beyond the realms of possibilities, especially as the crows don't have an early draft pick to work with.
  16. Hey, if we don't get it this year there's every chance we will next year! Can't see us escaping from the bottom three in 2014, personally. Us, the Saints, GWS.
  17. Ready for grand final fever in ye olde Freo town? No way they'll lose the prelim at Subi! Last Saturday in September here they come!!
  18. The MFC membership site will launch by Monday, all things being equal. The live stream was a joy to watch at midday. So exciting, I can't believe we got our man!
  19. "AFL's a tough game if you want to be successful and WE want to be successful." The man is gold.
  20. Pick 1 is on the table. Every assistant coach who wants to be a senior coach in three years should be lining up around the block to get the senior assistant gig, and then the job once Roos has righted the ship. Bring it on Roos, guide us into the light!
