  1. Got the absolute most out of himself as a player Kudos to him.. the battle cry of ‘Pedo power!!’ Will be missed
  2. whatwhat say what replied to biggestred's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought this thread was going to be about how t was disappointing to finish fourth but hey, at least we’re not St Kilda! They and we have been paired together since 2011 or so in terms of re-build We’ve now finished higher on the ladder than them in consecutive years I would much rather be an MFC supporter than an Aints one at the moment
  3. amazing that jack viney finished top 10 when he played less than half the games this year the surprise to me is that jones was so high up
  4. croad they traded alongside pick 10 to land pick 1 frawley and franklin left as free agents
  5. nah, it's just speculation, that's all
  6. denham seems to report EVERY YEAR that hogan is leaving you don't need to read it @Superunknown it's just all speculation with lots of ifs, maybes, and perhaps no actual quotes other than jesse saying 'i'm happy at the dees' from when he signed in october, 2016
  7. might as well chuck in oliver and viney i want those magic beans, dagnabbit
  8. garlett is under contract, so it's not as simple as delisting him
  9. god i'd forgotten wagner wagner - he's sort of neither here nor there as a rebounding defender cos he's a) not quick and b) not a good user of the ball, which puts him in that standard position of being a good 'effort' player who tries and tries but is extremely limited and as such has no true effect on the play
  10. Pedersen - looks like an old man hobbling around, he gives his all, but is limited to say the least Vince - sad way to go out, missing two shots his younger self would have nailed, he’s called time at the right time JKH - I query whether his fitness level is at afl standard as he starts the game well then fades badly Hunt - geez, what’s happened to this bloke? Used to eat up the ground, now he looks like he is waiting to be swallowed by it Fritsch - the obvious reason he’s favoured for a defensive role is cos he’s a composed left footer with the ball in hand and reads it superbly in flight Bugg - he’s competitive and a fighter, but his lack of skill makes him a prototypical not-quite-senior-standard player Petty - he reads the ball beautifully and you can see that’s his main attribute and he has he capacity to go on to be afl-level player McKenna - looked a mile off it Kielty - I thought he was okay without being anything amazing, and got beaten on a lead a few too many times for my liking Tim Smith - looks like a classic bit-part player who will do a few nice things, stuff up a few, and ‘play his role’ - he has a nice leap but that’s his main trick
  11. Once Hawks played two key forwards we were bereft of intercept and completely went to pieces in terms of ball movement It was an ugly game to watch with an uglier result That last quarter was awful
  12. BoX Hill get it back to seven points maggots gonna maggot...
  13. Beautiful by Bernie to Lockhart
  14. As a matter of interest, why do seniors listed players not maintain their numbers from afl to vfl level? Wg Vince goes from 23 to 63, JKH from 24 to 33
  15. Petty really strong down back, JKH everywhere, Tim Smith looking good as an undersized ruckman relax, we’ve got this...
  16. Heading in on the train with the handful of kids - under 15s for free rules - and there’s another Demon getting on at our station Suffice to say we agree that today has gotta be better than yesterday!
  17. bringing five children as it turns out - four demons and a hawk! it's a grand final - gotta be there i remember seeing oliver being the best of a handful of casey players to really work hard and fight to win in the 16 decider against footscray - weed kicked two, a then vfl-listed tim smith three, dunn and joel smith were probably in the best along with kennedy
  18. toby bedford will bring the speed and defensive intensity you want from a small forward, and he'll come on the list as our next generation academy selection, but he's not a 'crumber' per se currently i'd say in terms of rough 'positions' we have: key forwards: hogan, tom mcdonald, weideman, tim smith small forwards: spargo, kent, anb, bugg, garlett mid-sized marking forwards: melksham, hannan, balic hybrid mid-sized forwards / midfielders: petracca, vandenberg midfielders: jones, harmes, viney, brayshaw, tyson, oliver, stretch, maynard, kennedy harris ruck: gawn, king, filipovic rebound defenders: salem, lewis, hibberd, vince, hunt, fritsch, baker, mckenna, wagner, joel smith key defenders: lever, frost, o mac, petty, keilty small defenders: johnstone, jetta spare parts key position utility: pedersen key areas we seem to lack a fair bit of depth to me are ruck and small defender, which is why i'm understanding of being interested in preuss and a bit surprised we're not being mentioned re nick newman, but perhaps they see him more as a rebounder who knows with the likes of these currently uncontracted players will do: vandenberg pedersen kent keilty johnstone kennedy harris filipovic king mckenna tim smith bugg vince and balic have retired, kent and tyson (who has a year remaining on his contract) have been mentioned multiple times this year in the media re being traded to a new club for a fresh start of those uncontracted i would like to keep these guys on the list in 2019: vandenberg kent kennedy harris tim smith and who knows with keilty - we all want to see him stick around cos his brother is a rad dude, but perhaps there's another club crying out for a key back that could do with someone such as him to cover key defender gaps - a gap that we don't appear to have with four players ahead of him for senior selection, and all bar frost younger than him i think? - and he might take that opportunity main areas of concern in terms of depth appear to be: ruck small defenders small forwards potentially midfield why the latter two categories? garlett was awful this year, and if bugg goes as an uncontracted player, then we have two - both of who played today and neither are what i think of as goalkicking small forwards, more defensively minded players and if we trade away tyson (best 22 majority of the year) and jkh (depth) goes, there's not much there beyond the first five of oliver, viney, harmes, brayshaw, and jones, who is certainly not the player he once was
  19. This Minimum expectation is a top four finish at the end of home and away
  20. i'm sure he's bound to top votes for most as he got a heap of the pill, but i thought brayshaw was at the bottom of our best six today 6: harmes 5: oliver 4: petracca 3: avb 2: o mac 1: brayshaw best thing? all players - bar mature ager in vandenberg - are aged 23 and under clutching at straws after today...
  21. found a player in weideman this finals series, harmes has come on in leaps and bounds, oliver continues to astound, brayshaw finally had a no-concussion season, had no plugger mac for first 5 weeks, lever did his knee in round 11, viney only played 7 games for the year before finals, hogan broke his foot with two rounds to go in the year...there's straws to clutch at
  22. when we lost to the aints i didn't think we'd even make finals, let alone win two of em exceeded my expectations in 2018; top four after home and away is the baseline expectation for 2019
  23. I reckon we could go goalless in the half Awful way to end what’s otherwise been a thrilling year
