  1. it's funny that wa won the champs but two vic metro and two vic country boys are expected (at this stage) to go top four in rowell, anderson, young, and ash and you'd think green might attract a bid in the top 5 too
  2. the notion of having a list changeover of 10-12 list changes at the end of the season simply doesn't compute with the reality that that doesn't happen very often, i wouldn't have thought that'd be a quarter of list turnover in a season; strikes me as something that would be pretty unusual still maintain we need a tinker not a rebuild i'm selling myself into the idea of toby mclean who is currently borderline excess requirements at the dogs if we could add: adam tomlinson (free agent, the rumours are all saints but i don't know why we're not keen) ed langdon (our 2018 second to freo) toby mclean (our 2019 second to footscray) ben ronke (our 2019 third to swans) and that's before even doing any trading our only players with genuine high level currency are probably: may salem harmes petracca viney brayshaw gawn oliver t mac i think it's pretty unlikely that a player like o mac or anb or hibberd would be worth more than a third round pick, at best, and tbh the likes of hunt and fritsch are borderline 'valuable' to opposing teams too; they're the sort of players you try and get a second round pick for, like a melksham or a hibberd when we picked them up - you know that they can play afl-level football, but they've got 'spots' on them i still think brayshaw or petracca are the players that have the most 'value' as there's no way imo that yr trading salem, harmes, viney, gawn, oliver of the players in that group; the only reason lever isn't in there is because of the obvious injury concern, so he wouldn't command high level trade value brayshaw is the one for mine who would be on the chopping block no idea what we could get for him, but you'd probably want a first round pick plus...something (another player? another pick?) i don't mind the idea of sending him to freo to play with his brother; i'll have their 2019 first and ed langdon for brayshaw and...something 2020: B: Jetta - May - Lever HB: Jones - Frost - Hibberd ? Salem - Harmes - Langdon HF: Petracca - T Mac - McLean F: Melksham - Weideman - Ronke Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Hunt - Hore - Lockhart - Tomlinson Emerg: KK - AVB - our 2019 first - freo's 2019 first i have zero faith that avb or kk will ever become viable afl-level players for us, however i'd have both of them at their best as part of a best possible 25-man squad in this scenario
  3. gw$ have two first round picks - theirs and the peptides riley garcia from wa just did his knee, sad to see
  4. then we can all argue and compare rowell and anderson forever and a day!
  5. will play half-back for us, as he has done very well for the last fortnight by far and away better with the ball than anyone in the side bar salem, which says a lot about how deplorable our disposal is
  6. serong is a mid-paced inside mid, not a small forward you're way underrating brad hill, and potentially ed langdon, not to mention petracca and weideman
  7. players currently rumoured to be on the move / not getting a game / in and out of seniors and magoos for these clubs: adelaide - bryce gibbs, cam ellis-yolmen (free agent), alex keath, reilly o'brien, riley knight, josh jenkins, darcy fogarty brisbane - lewis taylor carlton - matthew kennedy, jack silvagni collingwood - jamie elliott (free agent?), brayden sier (back in the team now), rupert wills essendon - darcy parish, dylan clarke fremantle - the hill brothers (if you believe the rumours), ed langdon gc17 - tom nicholls, sam day geelong - nakia cockatoo, quinton narkle, charlie constable (can't see them letting him go) gw$ - stephen coniglio (free agent), jonno patton, isaac cumming hawks - isaac smith us (currency) - gus brayshaw, trac, anb, hunt, o mac north melbourne - paul ahern, ed vickers-wills, nathan hrovat, taylor garner port - paddy ryder, sam powell-pepper, karl amon (tried to get back to victoria last year), joe atley richmond - jack higgins, shai bolton, connor menadue, oleg markov, jacob townsend st. kilda - jack newnes, hunter clark, jack steven, david armitage sydney - tom papley, zak jones, nick smith, ben ronke western bulldogs - toby mclean, lin jong now, as @DeeSpencer said, we ain't gonna get anything for the latter three players on our presumed currency list - a third round pick at best of that lot of names from other clubs, the ones that immediately stick out as adding something to us would by lead by coniglio, the hill brothers, langdon, higgins, zak jones, papley, ronke, and mclean we really need to grab a decent free agent at some point; every club seems to have done it but us and the franchises; would love to be in the conversation for coniglio, but it seems unlikely i'd rule coniglio and the hill bros. out from the get go (they'll all stay), and the same for higgins and papley - the talk seems to have dialled off on the latter leaving sydney, but zak jones remains a topic of conversation the question is if we were to target the likes of: lewis taylor ed langdon sam day joe atley zak jones toby mclean how on earth do you get them all in? ed langdon and zak jones are awkward cos they're probably worth more than our second rounder, and mclean might be worth around about that but the likes of taylor, day, and atley should be available at a cheaper rate you'd hope our list doesn't need a rebuild; it needs a constant tinker
  8. and then when we lose the clearance he's not there to kill the contest or run it out of defence? no thanks lockhart it would interesting to see if he can work into playing thru the midfield - good user and tough but also quick away from the contest
  9. the only time we looked like winning a clearance today was when trac was in there
  10. it doesn't matter it's no different to our recent history under northey is the only time we were a consistently good side, and even then it was only for five seasons we've been a routinely appalling side for coming up six decades; it's hardly inconsistent
  11. it all depends on how gawn comes up, but like everyone i'd like see preuss get a go again either way, probably at the expense of tim smith baker has had a good run of afl footy in a row but looked stuffed today; jkh in to play that defensive hard-running wingman role lever in for petty seems a given, pending fitness in some respects i'd like to see someone come in for hannan, but i don't know if bedford is ready / there's anyone else actually available; i get the impression that we're again beset by so many injuries that there's not much in reserve to call upon IN: Lever, Preuss, JKH OUT: Gawn / Tim Smith, Baker, Petty
  12. may is a recidivist in terms of his actions (suspension-prone, injury-prone, aggressive towards oppo and teammates) but fortunately is a good footballer he's not captaincy material, but obviously already looks more than capable of leading the backline and marshalling them with how to play
  13. it's an entertaining game to watch we've been blessed by their inaccuracy
  14. one big man apiece down - no way he should be allowed to play again today after that
  15. getting killed at the contest in the centre
  16. salem's kicking...wowee trac's set shot approach looks awful but the results are 2/3rds good so far today
  17. trac's run up at goal needs a LOT of work; gets no momentum thru the ball and really pokes at it could've kicked the one from just on 50 if he had more momentum thru the kick i reckon
  18. jones coming off the half back flank is working
