  1. No one rushing to defend Mahoney now... Pretty ordinary seeming deal the mfc.
  2. Geez nudge, yr a cross patch aren't you? We've been working to try and land a 'big fish' for three straight off-seasons. for the last two, we've failed. three times tried, three times failed will be a pretty black stain under mahoney's watch, particularly when everyone thinks we've paid significant 'overs' for melksham (i personally think it's a neither here nor there trade; proof will be in the pudding), and now we look like being rolled by the pies with the Howe transaction.
  3. one thing that was paramount that was delivered this year was landing one of the bunch of 'a grade targets' that we were chasing - be it prestia, o'meara, parker, hartlett, etc. etc. the football department has a week to deliver it. otherwise, if they can't do it, it's a fail for mine.
  4. i just don't see tom mcdonald as a forward. he can swing there...but his kicking is just not good enough to make him better off playing forward as opposed to back, where i think he can become one of the best in the business.
  5. one in the top ten wouldn't be a problem, but two might. hey, we could get pick 3 and then nominate the better one of the two, which is probably jacob hopper? cal twomey's prediction was #5. Hopper's dominance for NSW/ACT saw him named its most valuable player. He averaged 26 disposals and eight clearances across the Rams' three matches and was clearly a level above. He is a competitive ball-winner capable of shaping the momentum of a game through sheer effort around the contest. Hopper, who is a member of the Giants academy and seems likely to head there at the end of the year, also likes to press forward and kick goals, evidenced by his bag of four in round one of the TAC Cup. 186 / 82.
  6. i really wanted to keep howe over garland, but the latter committed whereas the former did not. decision made. we really need a bidding war to start for his services to guarantee us something good, preferably with gc17 winning it as we can do that 6 and howe for 3 and something else in the top 20. bastinac is neither here nor there, it seems like toumpas is the makeweight for kennedy, who knows with bugg, we could end up getting him for a fourth rounder which would be a steal.
  7. crows should've, and probably did, demand first two first rounders for 2015 and 2016 and a player. dangerfield is probably a top 10 player in the competition and all cats have given up are speculative draft picks. bargain.
  8. what an absolute bargain for geelong.
  9. would be totally up for that sort of deal. it's effectively two picks inside the top 20 for howe, and we upgrade the pick, replacing two players with one as we're also improving the pick. sounds like a good one to me.
  10. he might rotate back but he won't play predominantly there. but these days, to be frank, you expect players to push back and forward no matter where they play.
  11. just tipped us into the +ve of those who think we'll make finals next year
  12. howe, pick 6, 2015 and first rounder, 2016 for o'meara and prestia this year. get both in one fell swoop
  13. Leuenberger a near certainty to go to Swans with Pyke retiring you'd expect. Suckling may go to the Dogs.
  14. Reminds me of when we got Clark for pick 12 in a compromised draft and we're all singing hallelujahs. Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't.
  15. gotta say, hogan's manager sounded far more circumspect than i was anticipating. although it is encouraging that he loves melbourne the city as well as the direction the club is heading.
  16. Mitch Brown any interest? Certainly a superior player at vfl level to Fitz, King, etc
  17. so far it would seem the obvious ins and outs are: in: melksham, bugg, kennedy out: toumpas, second round pick, howe possibly out: dawes, watts, tyson (i have no idea where the tigers rumour came from?) B: Jetta - T McDonald - Garland HB: Bugg - Frost - Salem C: Melksham - N Jones - Brayshaw HF: vandenBerg - Dunn - Kennedy F: Harmes - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney I/C: Kent - Pedersen - Michie - Petracca Emerg: Lumumba - O McDonald - Newton Outside the 25: Trengove - Stretch - JKH - Hunt - ANB - Grimes - Spencer - M Jones - King anyone i've missed? edit: added kent we look awfully light on for talls. i'd really like weideman as long as he tests okay at the combine. he has the height, reportedly the skill, and best of all we'd take him one before the filth could.
  18. really hope he can come back. hopefully the lessening of the rotations will make him more valuable.
  19. melksham and kennedy for our second rounder would be okay (wada-pending).
  20. On mobile at the top of the thread when you click the link to go back to the top of whichever board yr on, you always get a Cloudflare error at the moment. What gives?
  21. Weideman could end up being the player of this draft. He's a beast, albeit one who has had injury issues. As a result he will probably end up sliding to a late first rounder and be picked up by a good club and given time to develop.
  22. Another year, another dud gf. Hawks should be forced to only kick on their opposite foot, except for Mitchell, who has to play upside down (he'll still dominate).
  23. i agree, i think he's the sort of player who will be refreshed no matter where he lands as he has the skill, the desire, the temperament and with the abolition of the sub rule the opportunity to become a dalhaus / breust / zorko style player who can switch between forward and mid, with good ball-winning ability and a bit of toe. one question remains about his skills under pressure.
