  1. when he debuted for gc17 he looked like an absolute gun in the making unfortunately concussions have absolutely robbed him of not just his development but seemingly his drive it's extremely disappointing that he doesn't seem to be recovering as we expected him to do, and there's little doubt his career is in trouble; here's hoping he's able to recover
  2. miers was a pick in the 50s pick 8 should be more like a connor rozee in 2018, jaidyn stephenson in 2017
  3. don't think anb is a failure at all; he's best 22 for us because he's one of few forwards who applies defensive pressure
  4. each pick has points attributed to it so we use pick 3 to bid on green, it's worth xyz points, then gw$ need to use xyz-20% points, which they can do so by using a combo of pick 12 and pick 50 say which are worth xyz-20% points it's convoluted, and a farce, but less easily exploited than when sydney matched the mills bid a few years back as an example
  5. they get a 20% discount on points to pick him up - they must use points from their NEXT pick (which is new, i think, as you used to be able to use back-ended picks) only danger to us is we have to take him, which would be a shame as he looks VERY good we won't nominate him with 3 i don't think as we won't rate him in the top 3, but who knows...maybe we do! hard to know cos we DON'T LEAK anymore
  6. back-up for the back-ups for their main targets?? i thought it was sauce joining sausage at gw$ from the crows...
  7. voted 'time will tell' cos it's an option, but if it was a straight yes / no i'd say yes
  8. i've completely come around on it in the space of 30 minutes it's bold and creative hope it works!
  9. or to hold then to see what happens on draft day again, no leaks from mfc re what our approach to trade / draft is fantastic
  10. dvi is meaningless next year as the draft is completely compromised not only are something like 15 of the current expected top 30-35 (depending on whose assessment you believe) set to be father-son and academy selections, but gc17 have freebies galore in pick 11, and darwin / academy access Pick 50 this year is neither here nor there but it's a shame to lose the second round pick
  11. wow, very bold could be a masterstroke, could be massive overs now it's a matter of what we do with 3, 8 and...we have no other pick this year??
  12. massive overs for pick 8
  13. completely different sorts of players tho daniher has more exposed form, but has missed so much football as well - and hasn't had anything like the emotional issues that hogan had to deal with at the same time that his body was letting him down again you can understand why swans don't want to pay top dollar for him, despite tapping him up; really it's on them to get it done now
  14. we won't be trading in jenkins
  15. injured his game when freo surprised gw$ was exactly why i still think, pending injury, he'll be one of the most damaging players in the game body is clearly a concern tho fwiw, i don't see bruce as a solution for us - we need better pressure at ground level as well as someone who is a genuine target, which is why elliott made such sense, as he's equally adept at ground level and as a main target most sides really play with one main target these days; even when together, for the most part, when he wasn't injured jack riewoldt was a decoy to clear space for lynch gw$ are an exception with three mobile talls, but the lack of ground level swarm they created on grand final was a significant contributor to them being destroyed by the tigers - admittedly they looked cooked after two close finals
  16. i personally doubt we'll nominate him, simply as we might not see him as 'best available'
  17. good for the afl handy when you are one of their franchises, no?
  18. pretty much this - hawks needed a key defender to assist and then take over from chip, we didn't want to / couldn't afford to pay him what he wants, and we wanted the picks to do other deals / maintain positions in the drafts of 2019 / 20 it's a win-win trade as it helped facilitate us getting langdon, which is much more important to us going forward as a 24 year old wingman as opposed to a 28 year old key defender in 2020
  19. i think you should highlight that we won the longest kick competition too! if he learns to slow down his approach to the game then i think he could get even better he could be, if he's not already, the best midfielder we have ever had
  20. his season was an absolute disgrace and he has a lot to make up for after the way he was clearly not ready for the pressure placed upon him in the melbourne football bubble tbh i was a bit disappointed we went for him rather than going to the draft with pick 6 - i never really rated him as a footballer as he seems a touch undersized for a modern key position defender at just 193cm, when a lot of the big key forwards these days are TALL that said, he is clearly a super talent and i'm really hoping i'm wrong and he has a big 2020 and beyond
  21. that game against the swans was more like the jones i want to see in that game he was getting much more forward of the ball and hitting the scoreboard he's been a bastion of the club yet at the same time doesn't necessarily seem to have been 'loved' by all and sundry - i'm hoping he gets to 300 minimum, as he's definitely in my best 22 at the start of 2020
  22. his form really dropped off at parts of the season, but he was hardly on his own there when he is at his best is when i think we as as football side are at our best, as he's clearly our most damaging user of the football i'd definitely like to see him move up the ground more, but at the same time they seem to like him coming off the back flank the most
  23. he started the year as a defender in the senior side, went back to casey where he played through the midfield, and ended back in the seniors as a forward the one common thread in all three roles he played in 2019 was that he instructed and encouraged all those around him in some respects it's disappointing he's going down media street as i think he could be a great coach
  24. love his effort and his flexibility while i still think that when he is playing as a tagger he's at his best, i wonder whether he will have a different role going forward in 2020 it seemed to me he played much more of a defensive role towards the end of last season, and i suspect he may continue in that role
  25. the only games of casey i saw this year where on the telly he did nothing in any of them the write-up from the club is encouraging so i hope there's something to work with there
