yeah, strategic leaks i assume alongside houston, waterman, cumming, and angwin, i would love us to target the following blokes on good coin and at least ellen is on a long deal who might be looking for a change of scenery and we might be able to get them at a discount if we take on their full salary into our cap: liam ryan (meth coke) darcy parish (peptides) jack macrae (footscray) finn callaghan (gw$) in the year before he comes out of contract would cost a pretty penny but he would suit us to a tee
-
it sounds like battle has made his decision and it won't involve us i presume the lure for cumming is that broken hill has more affiliation with adelaide than melbourne (or sydney for that matter) he would be a handy pick up for us but has done his hamstring, what, three times this year? cerra tops him out at five this season...
-
yes his dad played 177 games for them, is a two-time premiership player, and he was 'best clubman', who then became their backline coach before switching to flagmantle so yes, i would imagine the waterman name has just as much connection as the viney for us

current 2024 draft picks: 7, 38, 42, 48, 63, 81 obviously we 'own' all our 2025 picks as well, as two future years trading hasn't come in as yet the players we have been rumoured to be interested in: josh battle (aints) FREE AGENT isaac cumming (gw$) FREE AGENT ryan angwin (gw$) dan houston (pear) i think we've been ruled out of the battle sweepstakes; he's either staying at aints or going to dingley cumming talk seem to have gone quiet; i would presume we're still keen? angwin the same houston i am super keen to bring home, if we can do i worry about the supposed 'cost' of two first round picks? i expect that's ambit claim put to the medja to spruik on the pear's behalf by jason cripps and chris davies, but we shall see... ...the biggest q is whether he is worth it as i think it was @DeeSpencer said, there's first round picks and then there's 'first round picks' would love to get him

Dusty Retires Immediately-ish?

absolute superstar one of the all-timers [insert: we didn't even interview him misery] -
will ultimately mean that only 1-6 get that silly 'bye' week in between home and away and finals so that's a 'win' for teams in that spot at any rate
-
our percentage was decimated by two beltings from flagmantle, and now the dogs one too i don't disagree with yr requirements tho big difference between the jobs done by tomlinson and tommy mac imo - the latter is a very, very good afl player and the former is a very good vfl player with gawn, may, viney in the team, it hink we're in 'win now' mode, and that's why i expect us to bounce too
-
too many talls maybe? wright's form has completely abandoned him waterman would be great, i think, but i'm convinced that the talk of him leaving is purely managerial manoeuvring to get a decent contract uplift now in his pre-agency year
-
i don't think we need to plug 'a lot of holes' at all the margins between success (finals) and failure (not) are so slim in the 2024 afl season i'm very confident that we can 'bounce' in 2025, and i imagine the supposed desire from houston by the footy dept is a huge part of their confidence in doing the same
-
we don't have that many 'kids' who aren't playing in the seniors already in the vfl last round: jefferson - will probably debut this week adams - looks a long way off it verrall - looks a long way off it sestan - not consistent enough at vfl to warrant afl selection pup brown - probably next in line for a call-up kentfield - looks a long way off it farris-white - not ready for vfl let alone afl would love to see el jefe given a solid run for the next 3 games in the seniors, and pup brown should be there too if sestan has one really good game in the vfl, would be great to see him debut for mfc next week
-
we took two first round picks to the draft last year; i have no issues with trading out houston is an absolute jet we're in it to win it, regardless of our fall from the pointy end this season he'll help replace the brayshaw role immediately
-
if he was a free agent it would be more of a concern but it is certainly an oddity it would be very disappointing if after 5 seasons of pretty good and sometimes great footy he left
-
how many weeks for charlie's 'string ping?
-
i personally don't think it would be wise to send everyone off who needs surgery etc. off now, as we already look very short of leadership and senior bodies on the field based on what seems to be his style of leadership, i can't see gawn wanting to NOT play it's going to be interesting to see what path we go down for these last games
-
yes, cos they're going to be in finals
-
can't believe pear let the bloods score #sackken

52-0 now

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
whatwhat say what replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
judging by his role at the under 18s as a player playing 'up' and the word out of gold coast since, he's being modelled more on mac andrew and playing as a tall, athletic defender it will be interesting to see what role he has in his draft year in 2025 -
important to get the margin down; should still go thru now
-
big boomers comeback
-
gc17's season is as disappointing as ours personally i hope they never make finals
-
yes, it's the midfield but no, rivers can 100% play that role going forward we're currently missing one of the best midfielders in the competition, and it really, really shows, plus of course gus, who was one of our best midfield rotations, missing all year if houston comes then he and rivers will, ultimately, wax and wane like hodge and lewis from half-back to mid you'd think i'd kill for an ldu or equivalent like that style of midfielder to come into our first rotation, but there's really no one of that ilk available this season
-
waterman's attack on the oppo and his goalkicking are a delight i hope it's true we are chasing him as well as edwards from meth coke, houston from the pear, angwin and cumming from gw$, and plenty of others besides we need to inject some class into the side

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Western Bulldogs

crom's fitness is a real issue too perhaps that style that worked so well in the past has gone by the wayside it wouldn't necessarily be a surprise, as the style of football that is successful has definitely changed -
