  1. who is the person with the backwards hat moving thru as an inside mid - jai culley?
  2. pneumonia as a result of covid back at the club within the next few weeks
  3. we won that!
  4. no, but we on demonland are the rusted on footy followers what they're concerned about is the likes of my children - a near 18, 15.5, and 13 year old who have little / no interest in the sport despite growing up in a household where their dad is an avid fan, worked in the industry, etc. etc. their #1 complaint is about the length of time it takes, from going to the game (and we live 5 stops from richmond station) to being there and actually watching it, to getting home after, as it's quite a significant commitment the near 18 year old will happily go to a game every few weeks, especially while the weather is pleasant, but the younger two have little to no interest outside of 'did the dees win? great!'
  5. i think inspired by the fact that a 48 min game is currently taking about 120 minutes to complete with the amount of timeouts and video reviews etc. etc. they're losing eyeballs to the tokkitikkies of the world
  6. interesting that the nha head honcho - the lizard-alike adam silver - has also recently floated that the nba could look at reducing quarters from 12 to 10 minutes i just wish they'd reduce games for both competitions; everyone should play each other once in the afl, alternating who has home and away rights each year, and just home and away in the nba it would be so much better
  7. by 'bender' you mean watching the replay on a loop, right?
  8. his piece about jamara today didn't have nearly the amount of pearl-clutching seen with previous missives on petracca, oliver, horne-francis or others
  9. i definitely hugged randoms in the stands that nite
  10. my understanding is this is correct the lists are finalised and any changes - e.g. retirements, cas-related suspensions, etc. - thereafter the player effectively remains on the list until the next list lodgement period
  11. no, but i sure do miss quality records
  12. houston and whitfield are two of the best rebounding defenders in the competition i'd argue that mcvee is a better 'defender' per se; his 1:1 work and ability to 'stop' his oppo is fantastic he's a 'neat' kick who focuses on maintaining possession whereas houston and whitfield are attacking kicks
  13. here you go: https://sen.com.au/news/2024/11/21/his-knee-has-degenerated-worrying-health-reports-emerge-about-eagles-skipper
  14. this is the second time he's trained with the group this summer?
  15. fritsch has been, arguably, the best mid-sized target forward over the last five years; he should be at the peak of his powers van rooyen looms as one of the tall key forwards of his generation petracca should, with a bit of luck, return the mid / fwd hybrid role where he can impact centre and forward, both from a scoring and a link in the chain pickett is, similarly, on the precipice of being the best small forward of the current era, and his cameos on ball over the last few years have been so exciting to see i have faith that we will have the pieces to place around them to maximise our scoring opportunities; my one concern is the lack of defensive forwards from both a 'big' and 'small' perspective, particularly if kozi is rolling through the midfield more - that up and down gut running that anb executed will definitely be missed
  16. big call out for mine is that this is the first time they've come on board as a sponsor within the afl industry i'm almost 100% they were on board with the smjfl a few years back but getting a company that's not previously invested in the big end of the industry? that's some fantastic off-field work
  17. i think it's been pretty well established that he's transitioning into a half back rebounder in 2025 think max holmes
  18. that has been introduced, i believe, at the end of this year? if he goes, he goes - it's not like we won't get something in return, as he's under contract for a significant amount of time
  19. much deserved
  20. and the presumption is he'll take it?
  21. i prefer 'retires following our history-making four premierships in a row and immediately has the new caulfield facility, due to be opened january, 2029, commission a statue to go out the front
  22. unless something goes horribly wrong, max won't be retiring at the end of 2025 happy for him to be holding up the premiership cup bit of this narrative to happen tho
  23. as others have said, start with the nadir - the first year jackson / roos being on board
  24. they said that last year about flagmantle as well in terms of how could a deal get done? at the end of the this season, or next, or the one after - he's under contract so it's not something to comtemplate at this stage... ...that said, look at the bolton deal - koz is years younger, under contract, and arguably better at the same age
  25. the west really does love to clutch at straws
