  1. the first year after forced retirement 90% of his salary is covered in the cap and each year after the amount covered is reduced - so by the time brayshaw's contract with us finishes 100% of whatever he was owed will be part of our salary cap total we just got ROGERED
  2. got fined for drunk driving in the months leading into the draft, from memory
  3. so now that the cover for salary cap for forced medical retirements due to concussion have been announced at least we know the salary cap parameters we'll be working with... according to the sun... 1st year of contract post concussion forced medical retirement: up to 90% covered 2nd year of contract post concussion forced medical retirement: up to 75% covered 3rd year of contract post concussion forced medical retirement: up to 50% covered 4th year of contract and beyond post concussion forced medical retirement: no cover gus had four years to run

  5. @Fritta and Turner's barber is more reliable
  6. you wouldn't want to give up much for ash johnson and quite frankly i wouldn't expect to get much from him he doesn't do any of the non-negotiables that are required
  7. he had a crack last week on afl's pravda.com.au last week
  8. great post the only caveat i would is that if we continue to allow teams to 'walk' goals in to within 20m as we did in the flagmantle and filth combo, they more than likely will maintain that accuracy
  9. in truth, what's really cost us is dog leaving at the end of 2022 - the knock on effect for the way we play was enormous we had adapted a game plan built around gawn + jackson and dogga's defection was a clear factor in trying 'grawndy' when there was opportunity to get grundy on the cheap, we took it - it was a risk worth taking, and it clearly didn't come off
  10. well there we go, if razor - who i consider a very good decision maker - considers it a block, then it's a block now i wait for it to be paid... and i wait...and wait...and...
  11. fify this is my take on it too - when you have a superstar like gawn, you don't waste his capabilities playing him as a forward it would mean the role he was playing was more akin to mason than dean
  12. another vote for finn callaghan here as someone who should be a big target for us i personally a) can't see gw$ letting him go easily and ii) him choosing melbourne to come to let alone 3) him wanting to leave them
  13. i've been watching that with interest too he basically takes one big step over the centre circle and then uses his big frame to block the oppo ruck's access to the ball and then has a 180 degree drop zone in front of him - it's part of what is helping the swans have such a dominant midfield currently it's smart, but i'm amazed no one has queried whether or not it's allowed; it's not too dissimilar to gawn's arm block approach which was outlawed for a time and then re-allowed
  14. the biggest issue this year is that there's little or no free agents on the market free agents who haven't signed on yet who may interest us somewhat: elliott himmelberg, jarryd lyons, oleg markov, will hoskin-elliott, bailey banfield, matt taberner, patrick voss, brendan parfitt, tyson stengle, alex sexton, levi casboult, sam day, harry perryman, isaac cumming, cameron zurhaar, francis evans, jack graham, josh battle, mason wood, tim membrey, andrew gaff, elliot yeo, jamaine jones, jason johannisen, tim english but, really, there's only five or six who would make our side discernibly better; at least, if the stories are true, we're interested in josh battle so really we're looking at either pre-agents (those coming out of contract next year, like ldu) or alternatively players with long contracts who may have fallen out of favour (grundy v2) if we have cap space to throw around we could look at the likes of josh rachele, darcy parish, luke davies-uniacke, logan mcdonald or - please, for the love of all that is holy, no - rory lobb if we're looking to add depth who may / may not be in our best 22 it's the likes of ryan angwin, those younger players on the edge of selection at their own club that might see a fresh opportunity with us and / or a means to return 'home' to victoria personally i would be very pleased if we could add battle as an unrestricted free agent, ldu as a pre-agent, and angwin as a youngster looking for more opportunity back 'home' in victoria this off-season, but it's going to be tough to achieve
  15. because as a tall defender he's hopeless 1:1 against any size opponent and he has one means of disposing of the ball - kicking it long and as far away from himself as possible i know there's 'tomlinson truthers' on this site but unfortunately if we want to be a good side he won't be in it he's not even as good a defender as sam frost they're both unreliable with and without the ball
  16. You would have thought so but… NO! In truth, bringing in a 4th maggot was about allowing the other 3 to ‘rest’ in game - and I’m not joking; there’s still only three ‘in charge’ at any time and the fourth is effectively removed from play It’s a complete joke
  17. until woey 2.0 can hit a target from 40m under zero pressure i'm not convinced he's going to make as an afl player the amount of times at both afl and vfl level his kicks - particularly when trying to execute the switch - miss the target by some margin is a concern
  18. great goal by bedford in his 50th game interesting that he's tagging - it's not entirely been a success, but he definitely has the pace to go with butters and rozee
  19. these prognostications are impossible to make in 2024 imo the season is just all over the shop, sydney being outstanding aside
  20. finally, a goal! this gw$ vs pear game has been ugly to watch but...a close game is an entertaining game, i guess...
  21. interesting move to try bedford as a tagger on butters didn't work in the first quarter but gw$ starting to win a lot more of the footy this term edit: bedfford rolled onto rozee when butters having a rest
  22. goddamn norf
  23. filth are gonna win by 5 goals at this rate
  24. wow north are fun to watch
  25. don't like the way the filth are reducing the margin reckon north will want to by 7 goals to the good at 3/4 time to feel 'safe'
