  1. our #1 way to be scored against is on turnover, i believe? having a half-back turning it over nearly a third of all possessions ain't a great ratio
  2. amiss was a significantly higher-rated player tho, picked at 8 the previous year the second tall forward taken, after sam darcy as a f/s at pick 2, and the third tall taken, after mac andrew at pick 5 by comparison, jvr went pick 19 that same draft as, and has played 3 less games than amiss, and is having just as good a start to his afl career despite not playing at all first year 2021 looks like a good crop for talls in the first 40 picks who are all really starting to emerge as serious players in the competition: pick 2: Sam Darcy pick 5: Mac Andrew pick 8: Jye Amiss pick 9: Josh Gibcus pick 15: Leek Aleer pick 19: Jacob van Rooyen pick 21: Matt Johnson pick 24: Toby Conway pick 25: Mitch Knevitt pick 33: Mitch Owens pick 37: Rhett Bazzo pick 39: Blake Howes in jefferson's year, talls taken before him were: pick 1: Aaron Cadman (24 games) pick 10: Matteas Phillipou (33) pick 13: Jedd Busslinger (0) not many talls picked shortly after him either, right down to our next pick...who was also a tall: pick 22: Max Gruzewski (1) pick 23: Harry Barnett (2) pick 25: Lewis Hayes (0) pick 31: James Van Es (0) pick 33: Hugh Davis (0) pick 36: Tom McCallum (0) pick 37: Henry Hustwaite (6) pick 38: Jed Adams (0) one thing that doesn't seem to get mentioned much is that the 2020, 2021, and 2022 draft crops all lost a year of development potential in 2020, which definitely seems to have effected victorian players due to the lockdowns in 2020-21 i do wonder if it's why we've preferred wa kids - like jvr - and others such as amiss have developed more quickly in the last few years - they had more exposed form pre-draft
  3. wrong i reckon - chin is the only forward applying defensive pressure now that pickett and anb are not in f50 as often bowey is the more poorly performed of the pair of late
  4. half back so if salem is injured and they want to keep rivers in the midfield - which you'd hope we do - then moniz-wakefield would be next up i'd personally be dropping bowey for him
  5. his going off and being subbed out was a huge part of us dropping our bundle rivers went back to cover for him and our midfield got pantsed for the remainder of the game
  6. a chance? yes a likelihood? unlikely amw ahead of el jefe i would say
  7. 'never' is forever - i would assume he hasn't come in yet cos he's learning a new role he's been significantly more impactful playing as a back than he ever was as a forward
  8. cool, i'll take day and moore and their first round pick
  9. good; looked fake as and i was 150m away (i'll take the free)
  10. yeah i'm anti redeploying our best - only? - lockdown defender into the middle although bringing in amw would free it up to try but...my preference is not
  11. first season playing as a defender and he's coming along okay if we didn't have a surfeit of players of a similar shape / size for defensive spots - mcvee, salem, rivers, bowey - then he may have got a look in the last few weeks personally i'd be bringing him in for bowey this week, who i thought was below average last nite and has been for some time now
  12. don't think second and third round draft picks are particularly valuable
  13. no - think of this year as jvr's first year; let him develop and gain fitness and exposure in vfl before a big preseason in the gym and he should hit the ground running in 2025 based on the casey game i personally would drop bowey for moniz-wakefield, but otherwise it should just be lever for tomlinson as the only change
  14. north hold on to win by a goal lots to like about jefferson, moniz-wakefield, and to a lesser extent adams with some good marks fullarton and verrall cameos billings, laurie, mcadam offered nothing while presume woey 2.0 was injured as he wasn't sighted - at least not by me - after half time
  15. that one to deny windsor the equaliser was bizarre
  16. great goal eddie king and it's back to 6 points the diff mitch white limping off tho
  17. or send him back if tomlinson is in the afl, adams is the only real tall down there
  18. edwards - hold yr feet hanson jr runs into goal for his 4th
  19. fullarton at chf >>> fullarton in the ruck
  20. unbelievable that north have duursma and mckercher to add to their class ball users going forward they're going to be very, very good in a couple of years
  21. some great ball movement sees white roll it thru from 50 2 points the diff
  22. great start with fullarton (not jefferson!) goaling after 30 seconds
  23. funny thing is - i mean el jefe! 🤣 he's too skinny for afl and fullarton is not good enough for afl brown's skinniness is not an issue cos he's about 20cm shorter, not a key position player, and plays with a ragged intensity reminiscent of well, his dad
  24. got yr eyes open? jefferson is skinny as it gets for a key forward nowhere near ready for afl yet - big pre-season in the gym required
  25. laurie you absolute dumbo
