  1. Melbourne smashed previous year's premier in this round 14 clash. Showcases the Dees in their early 60s pomp. https://youtu.be/q6OzEFifWVU?si=iKEre4ElFm4iY1Zg
  2. The following week we would be flogged by grand finalists, Hawthorn. I think we won our last six games by very big margins, but RDB got suspended v Tigers and we lost our mojo.
  3. Some real gold from Rhetrospective: Melbourne v St Kilda, R9 1963 https://youtu.be/t3uuSbCgiZI?si=X4mvuNg8HSkQDn7y
  4. Robertson was a great player.
  5. Well there was always the option - in the old days, of reading Jack Dyer's "Dyer'ere" articles in The Truth...
  6. Oops...Essendon snuck one in 2000...
  7. We have won a premiership since the inception of the AFL. How many Afl clubs can't say that? Fremantle GC Suns GWS St Kilda. Essendon Carlton North Adelaide haven't won one this millennium.
  8. That's an anomolous stat... why not choose a period more representative of recent history... we had a historic bad patch, but have had good five years snd currently have an excellent list. The glass needs to be half-full before it is consumed.
  9. This fearless duo would have been nothing without Jack Little.
  10. Barassi to Townsend to Bourke to Mann...
  11. The passage of play taking the ball from the back line involving Barassi, Bourke and Mann (l have forgotten someone) is the best sequence of football - preserved on video - from the Demons' golden era. PS Did you ask Hassa why he shanked that shot on goal?
  12. That could be possible. They were thrilling games, via radio 3DB...
  13. Don't think Gary Hardeman ever played in a final...
  14. I'm pretty sure in that North game that Mann swooped in out of nowhere and kicked the winning goal...
  15. I once saw Tim Watson ordering a pie from Longwarry service station.
  16. Because we had a Kerry Ryan PE teacher back in old Springy High days and l think he had played VFL.
  17. Speaking of Mobil, his 1964 card was one of my cherished memories!
  18. I am wondering if Kerry Ryan was a sports teacher.
  19. "Melbourne doing it easy" at 0.26... later on "and another goal by Melbourne"... "Kerry Ryan" anyone?
  20. Given that there were only two matches covered each week - monopolised by the top teams - l am guessing some of these games at least were match of the round and therefore during MFCs better years of the 60s...
  21. My true demon hero through the 1960s. It's not every day you see video highlights of this great era: https://youtu.be/Xjnd7VZv3C4?si=gZnuZY91l34D8DoP
  22. If you look at "Rhetrospective" on YouTube, there are instances of players being penalised for kneeing an opponent in the back. And this was in the biffo era of the 60s. It seems the afl administrators are bent on preserving certain forms of violence to keep up with the other thuggish codes.
