  1. If you look at the Rhettrospective 60s footage on YouTube there's a lot of biffo, but the ball player, and player in front was sacrosanct. WCE won a premiership about five years ago v Collingwood with a nod, nod, wink wink nudge, and now it seems anything goes. Head office doesn't want any implication that this is a game for pansies. Ditto those life-ending knees ... primary function of which is to take out a player.
  2. What about "It's a Long Way To The Top".
  3. Surely this initiative would present excellent cost-saving opportunities for our new Admin centre at Caulfield...
  4. The AFL is a compromised organisation, using hired influencers to speculate on "tradeables", whilst pandering to the gambling industry and their cotery of unbackable destination clubs.
  5. Wouldn't mind seeing some crossover between WCW and AFL. Maynard and Moore could tag team as the Deadly duo using the Flying Mare and The back attack to terrorise the opposition. Jack Little as AFL Media Director would be on hand to issue a firm WOW! to help promote AFL betting agencies.
  6. I just did some online research, and it seems it was Killer Carl Cox who partook in the "surreptitious use of foreign objects", not to mention the brain buster.
  7. Who was the guy who always had a "foreign object" in his hand?
  8. PS l once got head-butted by Sabbo at Springy High. It was totally un-premeditated.
  9. Must admit, my memory has faded. The head-butt, l guess you meant there...
  10. He was like a dumb extra. It was always Skull Murphy who applied the sleeper hold...
  11. I can't ever remember Brute Bernard wrestling one-on-one, he was always with Skull Murphy.
  12. Anyone still around from 1948 will surely enjoy this: https://youtu.be/dI_Z5EFboNE?si=wPKgsRkv3jtJq1LL
  13. "C sharp" is a bugger of a key to play in. I hope the match committee know what they are doing.
  14. Looks like The Crows, The Eagles, The Swans and Hawks could be in for some grief...
  15. I liked to get my early 70s football from The Sunday Observer...
  16. Don't forget RDB bolted in the middle of the night and we got nothing except 57 years of grief. At least in modern times there is the fig leaf of compensation...
  17. It was 1972. Mel 23.17 def NM 6.11. Melbourne 11 goals to 0 at quarter time. From memory we had 7 goals on the board in first 5 minutes.
  18. The last time l went to Arden St we didn't arrive until 5 mins into the first quarter. Melbourne already had multiple goals on the board. 7? We went on to win by 100 points. Brian Dixon was new coach of North. I think it was 1970.
  19. What if a player got suspended in one of these games... would his suspension affect his next game - whether that be either another indigenous game, or merely a knee in the back home and away game?
  20. I just want to say that l went to the footy for years with Paul Callery's 35 on my back, and have never regretted it...
  21. Ian Cooper was very skinny...
  22. Melbourne smashed previous year's premier in this round 14 clash. Showcases the Dees in their early 60s pomp. https://youtu.be/q6OzEFifWVU?si=iKEre4ElFm4iY1Zg
  23. The following week we would be flogged by grand finalists, Hawthorn. I think we won our last six games by very big margins, but RDB got suspended v Tigers and we lost our mojo.
