  1. Agreed it's unlikely for next year but we should be preparing the list for the future as well. If we pick up mids again this year we'll be in the same predicament in 12 months time potentially with later picks.
  2. My major concern is our lack of key position forwards. If you take out Hogan the cupboard is pretty bare. Dawes - past his best Pederson - solid without being a standout Frost - raw and unproven, potentially a defender only. King - raw and unproven, Then we have defenders who could potentially play a role forward: Dunn, Garland, T. McDonald - have been tried with limited success O. McDonald raw and unproven. IMO our midfield is on the way to being very strong with great potential. We took 5 quality mids in last years draft. Tall forwards and probably rucks are where we are light. It's hard to get quality tall forwards late in the draft. I think we are going to have to go at least 1 tall at 3 or 7 potentially both could be talls. If Hogan gets injured and misses a chunk of next year who is going to step into the role? HB
  3. Could we potentially go a Hawks (Roughead, Franklin) draft of two KP forwards? I'm thinking Weideman at 3 and McKay at 7? A lot would depend on the results of Weideman's testing whether the club thought it a safe bet. Also if the club were confident that Prestia will come to the club next year they might load up on talls this year while at the bottom end of the ladder. It would provide another tall forward to partner Jesse and a 200cm tall forward/ruck noting that we only really have Gawn, Spencer and a very raw King as real rucks at the moment.
  4. Your reasons are almost identical to mine STMJ. If we want a forward draft a pure forward. Not a forward who we think might also be a bit of a mid. I don't see anything in Curnow that makes me think of Stringer. More like Waite
  5. Reminds me of Tom Lynch from Gold Coast. Similar height and movements.
  6. I've got one of those hats too and I love it.
  7. Parish and Weideman for me would be a great result. I think we need another pure key position forward. Then Parish and McKay
  8. This weeks podcast features Jason Taylor. It's well worth the listen. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-11-10/pick-no3-dees-to-go-best-available-player-but-not-yet-sure-who-that-is There's an interesting bi-play between Jason and Cal (who I assume is an Essendon supporter) towards the end where its intimated that Cal is pushing an agenda to get Melbourne to pass on Parish so he can get to the Bombers.
  9. I agree SONS.
  10. Good pick up DD. Apologies for the confusion.
  11. I see Cal Twomey has just tweeted that he thinks it's more unlikely than likely that we'll take Parish. Grain - Salt
  12. Something worries me about Curnow. Just a gut feeling.
  13. In the HS today "After just one development season, Harry is tipped to crack the top 10 at this months national draft as Melbourne, Carlton and Adelaide eye the marking forward. Had Harry been born eight days later and ineligible for this years draft, some AFL recruiters believe he would have grown into next years No.1 pick" AGE: 17 HEIGHT: 200cm WEIGHT: 91kg CLUB: Gippsland Power POISITION: Key forward SUPERCOACH AVE: 73 (TAC Cup) PLAYS LIKE: Joe Daniher / Tom Lynch (GC) PROJECTED DRAFT RANGE: 5-15 IN THE MIX: Melbourne (7), Carlton (8/11), Adelaide (9), Richmond (12) This kid excites me more than Curnow, Milera and the others tipped to come later.
  14. I spoke to a family member of a current player yesterday and he said it was expected that they would take Parish at 3. Whether he was speculating or had heard from inside the club I couldn't be sure. Anyway thought I'd pass it on.
  15. Those who are writing off the likelihood of us picking up Collins and to a similar extent Harry McKay should note that they are both almost 12 months younger than Curnow. In fact, Harry McKay (DOB 24/12/97) only just qualifies for this draft. Had he been only 8 days younger he'd be playing U18's again next year and not eligible for this draft. Collins (DOB 14/12/97) isn't much older. If you consider that our extra top 10 pick is in effect next years 1st round pick, the club may be thinking about picking what they see as the best bottom age talent to offset the fact that we don't have next years 1st round pick. In effect, give them 12 months in the system developing similar to what has happened with Hogan and now Petracca. My guess is that Curnow, Francis and Weideman will be gone before pick 7. I reckon that either of Collins and/or McKay are well and truly in the mix for pick 7. I can't see us passing on Parish at 3.
  16. Bottom age which is interesting. Looks like a good prospect to me.
  17. As Redleg has noted he is still 17, after checking the ages he is nearly 12 months younger than Curnow. I think he will be in serious contention for our pick 7
  18. Agreed Elwood, in fact when you look at most people's best 22 for round 1 next year most don't have any of this years draft picks in the team. In the past that hasn't been the case.
  19. The new highlights package is pretty bloody impressive.
  20. I can stomach everything in our fixture except the 2 games at Etihad against the Saints. That is just BS from the AFL, that would never be accepted by another club.
  21. Looks and moves a lot like pre Carlton Daisy Thomas IMO
  22. Richard Cranium's
  23. Hunt re-signed too. Does that mean Michie is the only one OOC? Or will Terlich be paid out and delisted.
  24. If Weideman, Francis and Curnow are gone we simply take the next best talent available. I don't want us to take the next best tall simply because we want a tall. Of course that's assuming that those 3 are rated within the top 7.
  25. Anyone know when the players are due back?
