If there's ever a chance for Steven Gerrard to get redemption for that slip in 2014, this is it!

The main thing is it’s going to the last day of the season. Gives everyone something to watch! Thought the Hammers were exceptional in that first half with those movements forward. Very glad they hung on for a point, seems like the Spurs draw from last week is gonna get us in the end but obviously it’s a tonne of moments like this that makes up a season. Commiserations to Rangers this morning in Europa, had two decent chances to take it out in extra time but lost to the dreaded penalty shootout!
  3. Quite like these gameday scribbles. Good to see someone's views as the game is actually happening but with slightly more though put in than a lot of us in the gameday thread 😜
  4. 100% He was the master of situational coaching. They'd rehearse different scenarios over and over.
  5. There were some good aspects about the McIntyre system but probably a few more negative ones in my opinion. I did like how the top 4 teams got a home final and the ranking system would at least give teams around that 3rd to 6th mark a chance but when the flaws were exposed they were badly exposed. Beating the reigning premiers in 98 and then having to rely on two road wins by St Kilda and West Coast didn't seem right. it leaves too many things up to the gods. On the flip side the next year seeing Carlton get completely bathed by Brisbane in a 3rd vs 6th in the qualifying final which sent Bris to a semi against the Dogs and Carlton to a semi against West Coast at the MCG after West Coast WON from 5th against the Dogs the week before on that very ground! We all know what happened next. This system isn't perfect but it's streets ahead of that one in my view. I know you're not saying to go back to it but that's my take :)
  6. Well deserved reward for one of the hardest workers. The guys said it on the pod, when he get's the ball you know he'd going to use it!

I just don't know what you're meant to do anymore. We want our players to tackle but if someone gets concussed well hey "It's in the rules". Why the hell would anyone want to lay a great tackle now if they are going to get rubbed out? I want the MRO to outline clearly what players must do, what is the correct way to tackle from behind, step by step in a way that if that player performs this tackle 20 times, none of them will be deemed suspension worthy.

Gave him 6 votes this week. The endeavour and work rate has always been there but there's something different about the man these last couple of years. He's sort of got the Clarry knack of knowing how long to hold it and exactly when to release it to our advantage these days. But another thing I'd like to point out with Jack is his kicking for goal. He's kicked 5 this year and his set shooting routine is immaculate. In the Port game they showed a slow mo replay and he had a beautiful fluid run up, watched the ball onto his foot and even kept looking down after he kicked it. If you can pull up this footage I strongly recommend it, I don't think I've seen anyone keep the head down so long in a set shot routine!

Exactly my thinking. I did not attack Hawkins for that act as I really did think it was a freak accident by a physically strong player, this is a less physically strong player and tried to pull up. This kid has finally got his chance in the side, let's not burn his confidence to smithereens. Hoping like hell the club steps in here.
  10. We didn't play well and won by 74 points, there are few times in most of our lives where this picture is a reality. I'm not going to have a go at the attitude that this isn't good enough, we've won the thing now and people are entitled to have whatever attitude they like but in an extremely short space of time it has gone to our heads, mine included. When I watch footy, even now with the team we have, I never try to put an expected margin on a game. I think it's silly in a competition of equalisation and the fact that if any given team brings their A game they can still make a decent fist of it. Yeah I might have gone into this one thinking we'd win convincingly but it gets dangerous when you start expecting no less than 100 point wins. It is ok to expect and demand a certain level of success but let's not forget these things are hard to win in the first place. It was just over two years ago we went over there in Rd 1 and totally honked it up, who would have thought we'd make this stadium our honorary second home. Marathon and not a sprint, yes there were moments in this game where we got a bit lax and we don't want to run into a top side with these attitudes but I have no doubt at all the coaching staff is harping on about this. Also thought it was great to see T-mac find some tough. We've got a forward line again looking hard to prepare for.

Accidents happen in this game. They can say all they like how they want to get a certain look out of the game but it is a contact sport and there are going to be freak accidents. I haven't felt this riled up since Viney's 'non-bump'

Chandler's tackle was a complete and total accident and he got two weeks, Ryan's bump had malice and got one week. The system is broken and almost purely dependent on the outcome and how hurt the opposing player was. It's a joke, I don't care if pinning the arms is covered in the dangerous tackle rule. It is stupid, players can't be expected to do all this split second thinking at full pace. The rule is stupid, plain and simple.
