At this rate everyone at Essendon could go.

How many coaching succession plans fail in the first 2 years?
  5. Question: In one word where does Melbourne finish? Obviously this will require tips on other games.

    Sacked coach
  7. There is something to that and I occasionally find myself subscribing to the 'Expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed' theory. It is an ugly feeling to be expecting something that doesn't turn out and life is a bit short to be disapointed about something that has little to do with you, espcially when you've raised the bar so high that your general happiness is riding on that successful result. Of course I think it is always better, always smarter, always wiser to be optimistic. That goes for anything in life, but tempering expectations is not a stupid thing either.
  8. I would love to see him in the wing/HFF role and see if he can help us hit targets at half forward. Very hard to see how he will come in now but it's tempting.

Could be the biggest coaching hijack since Ross Lyon!
  10. I like this question and I'd just like to add on is it posible that we may just have to accept that it will be extremely difficult for Ben to play a good game while we are playing with the one tall? He is taking the best defender every single week and is never able to move around how he'd like.
  11. Love Ministry! Keep us posted on that cover!

So this review Brasher conducted could be all for nothing? Priceless.
  13. I feel like we would actually play the ground well too. Brisbane are a good side and have plenty of weapons that can carve anyone up on their day but they do also run on momentum and if we bring the pressure that we know we are capable for bringing this will get stuck in their heads. We need to make sure our midfield game is as good as it has been all year, win the clearances and win the territory battle. Make sure that we are limiting not only their entries but mainly the quality entries into their 50. Make sure Rich and Zorko are kept honest and play to our strengths. This is a game where we absolutely WILL need to take our chances in front of goal so we need to be putting the ball in the right place when hitting up targets. I’m pretty encouraged after Melksham’s performance on Sat as I like where he leads to and we know he can kick them, need to get it in his hands and make him our Jamie Elliott. It's going to be a tough challenge of course, but it is crunch time now and I’m confident we are ready. A few Jack Viney tackles to hurt and physical contests early wouldn’t go astray either. They’re a good side but we should not fear them, we will be coming out with all guns blazing on Friday.
  14. Just a slight improvement with efficiency will do wonders. Clearance king!
  15. A fair take. I hadn’t heard the TV commentary when I did my votes and maybe had him a little high but I had really liked the way he played Curnow on the night. I watched it again and agree disposal to him wasn’t flash but Petty had the aerobic capacity to go with Curnow and to hold a guy leading the Coleman to 1 goal and 1 inside 50 mark wasn’t a bad effort. Thought some of the frees that went against him were brutal as well.
  16. We need to find a way to get these small forwards involved more. Carlton’s defensive tackling pressure was immense at times and we just couldn’t get the decent looks at goal. Get these three some more touches and we will see much more contribution.
  17. One more win on the board and I think the naysayers would be a fair bit happier. Most people know how hard these things are to win but I think it's the one or two games that people expected to chalk up as opposed to last year that are sticking out for some people.
  18. Gonna need McGriff the crime dog to solve this one..
  19. Either way you can cut through that irony with a Tim Shaw steak knife.
  20. Really good segment there from Kingy and showing how the Pies worked this to perfection burning clock against us last week keeping the ball in close and forcing stoppages.
  21. Anytime mate! I’ve also seen a lot of people calling out anti-social behaviour lately. On Sat night in our area a Carlton fan screamed an obscenity at Melksham. Won’t repeat obviously but think one of those vile four letter words people with no brain or creativity say regularly. I texted the anti-social hotline discreetly but I was pleased that about 3 people instantly had the guts to tell them off to their face.
  22. I see your side to this 1964_2. It was good coaching and great that they had this in mind at training during the week but it doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve tinkered with the general gameplan. We hardly looked to the corridor all night and the fact that we did on this particular play, while good coaching, felt more like we’d ripped up the gameplan in that moment and just went for broke. Does it mean this could be used a bit more in the coming games? Maybe. Not sold on this being something that Goody prefers though as it can potentially burn us the other way in a bad area of the field, we’ll see.
  23. For me while I wasn't thrilled at times, the result meant more than anything to do with the performance. You can package the effect a win like that has on the boys and take it forward.
