Yeah most people I know who go can't be bothered talking about the attendance, you just attend and hope others will too.
  2. I'm choosing to think that the absence of Gawn will mean the Swans will get beaten by what they don't know somehow.
  3. It's very much a case of what got you here won't get you there, but then you forget that it got you here. We bemoaned the lack of fast ball movement last year and while I definitely wanted us to speed up and become a bit more predictable, there was no more assuring feeling I've ever felt in my time supporting this club than going into boa constrictor mode once we got the game on our terms and controlled the pace. The balancing act was always going to be finding when to use each method. I would really hope we don't go too far away from what got us to this point but the slight tweaks and more experience with them in practice will hopefully reap rewards soon.
  4. What technology and metrics are used to measure a team's ability to run out a game? Are there different methods for different players? For instance is a pressure forward judged on how many repeat sprints they do across the 4 quarters? Are there ways to measure their speed levels over a certain distance? Also, in the footy strength and conditioning world has technology and data taken over as the main way of analysing performance? Or are there still a lot of things that come down to the eye test?
  5. Like an off beat blues musician, they move a little differently these types.
  6. I feel like this milestone needs some amazing Clarry artwork by a talented creative.
  7. It's such a long season, they'd be having to answer the same questions every week. The forgotten part of this is the members, you need to sell hope to them. Telling them that the season they've paid up for is effectively dead at Rd 2 would be a pretty rude shock to some when the game is their main passion in life. They made bold moves which may end up being the incorrect moves but tanking? Surely not.
  8. Agree. Thought Tommo got swept up in the overall bad performance, made some mistakes but did another serviceable job. Appeared to spend most of the night minding Hipwood who had 7 touches and no goals.
  9. It would be the perfect sliding doors moment to lose the wood we had over one team but take another team's wood over us away from them.
  10. Not fussed, we produced a rising star award winner 2 years ago so must have been doing something right.
  11. Whatever it is I don't want it.
  12. Right in the kisser.

I gotta ask one thing about the reserved seat members because we were in the gun a lot on here last year. What is an appropriate number of games for a reserved seat member to attend each season? I go every home game but if I ever have to miss one for good reason am I going to be thrown into the worthless reserved seat member category? The guy I usually go with had a baby last year and now gets to about 1 in 3 home games after having attended regularly for 5 years, is he scum?

Is this the 'lay off us we're turning up' thread or the 'come on you lazy so and so's get your butt to the games this is embarrassing' thread?
  16. Watched his highlights on stats pro before. Really struggled to cover territory and the only time he was outside the 50 was when he was in the ruck. Need to get to the bottom of it.
  17. It's a good stat. Wonder how the extra game will play a part?
  18. How bloody good is Clayton! I've never seen anyone play a better first 150 games than this guy. Pillar of consistency and hopefully a future Charlie winner. Good on you Clarry! Edit: That image will be his statue outside the G one day..
  19. Personally I don't look at the ladder till about round 8.
  20. It's a real 'Moneyball' approach that looks like it's been created by a computer. There's every chance this becomes a step back to go forward year for them. A lot riding on this derby.
  21. It's just so obvious that this method is not how you take a club to the next step. Those 20 gamers you mentioned were big contributors in 2022, especially Acres. With a list profile at the stage theirs is at, that many changes can upset the mould and take time to reset again. Then to go out and throw the money bags out there who is really only high potential who doesn't address a need. They weren't crying out for a ruckman and he doesn't fix their forward issues. I just can't see how this can be seen as an organisation making good and sensible decisions in line with the vision of a club yet to break their duck. I see it as a club that was on the way to building a 'bloods no DH' culture and overnight has pivoted to the old fashioned Carlton mentality and caving in to the shiny object syndrome.
  22. It's pretty crazy though isn't it, the only players with over 150 games experience on the list are Breust and Wingard. Just 4 others with over 100 games.
  23. It was the best year of his career bar none. The intent he played with off HB and some of the crazy good efforts in 50-50 contests at pivotal moments really helped set the tone for our season. Incidentally it was the round 8 game against Sydney at the G that I remember so vividly when it comes to Hunty's season. It was a real tough game and there was a real question about whether MFC would step up or step down in those last 5 mins and he had about 2 or 3 'all-in' commitment moments that could have gone either way. It was that moment I knew that our club was fair dinkum and our mentality was set. Very much a crucial part of our success.
