  1. WJ. That is one of the most beautifully executed hip and shoulders I've seen in a long time. The idiot deserved it. Well done.
  2. Their choices had far more to do with the dollars than with the sort of club Melbourne happens to be and since the $ on offer were greater elsewhere they made the same decisions you and I would have made in the same circumstances. Given the issues with both players, their exorbitant price tags $ the fact they are both only 20 game players, they are nothings in the entire scheme of things. Let's move on to something more deserving of our time and effort.
  3. It's usually published on the AFL site when most clubs have started pre season training. BTW where are we training? When? Is anyone going & did Nathan Carroll get an invite?
  4. On the other hand, I have seen very few weak kicks really improve to the point where they were elite standard. The funny thing about these draft camps is they test for a lot of things but not kicking under pressure. We can't afford to take players @ picks under #20 whose skills are poor in this area.
  5. Delighted we didn't take mediocre players for big dollars. $700kpa is better in our coffers or spent wisely on developing players.
  6. Ha ha ... Wrong!!!
  7. It's interesting that Wisbey has him pegged as a player who is a "fairly pacy version of Simon Black" but a lot of people have him down as slow. Which view is right?
  8. I guess we'll see what sort of deal Carlton and Fremantle finally work out. The Dockers have been screwed by most clubs in past trade deals ... let's see if they've learned anything. If they settle for just pick # 24, the whole football world will be laughing.
  9. 7. Don't use a likeness of Jack Watts for your avatar.
  10. The story's mostly regurgitated in today's HUN - Melbourne forward Russell Robertson's a demon for recovery work. Here's hoping that they're all firing early next year.
  11. It would be interesting to draw a comparison between the team that represented us in mid season when we were competitive against Richmond for about 85% of the game and Sunday's match when we were competitive for about 15%.
  12. The game is being covered by Casey Radio 97.7FM Sunday: Sandringam v North Ballarat @ Trevor Barker Beach Road Oval - 1.30pm Start Commentators: Chris Weaver & Cameron Scott Comments: Darren Parkin & Jack Richter Boundary Rider: Ben Taylor To catch all the action live on Casey Radio, if you're located in the Melbourne metropolitan area and you've got a radio handy, tune into 97.7FM, or if you are located anywhere else in the world, and you've got the internet hooked up, go to http://www.3ser.org.au and click on the "Listen Live" link on the homepage.
  13. Brad Miller is out this week with a hamstring injury which was not reported earlier in the week. Ricky Petterd is not in the Sandringham team to play at the weekend. Last week itwas the same thing with Wheatley who was out with a calf injury that wasn't disclosed in the week's injury list. Presumably, these players' injuries happened after the list was issued but this has become such a commonplace occurrence that I'm starting to wonder about our fitness and training set up at the club. This is one of the first areas the club should review IMO.
  14. Oh, he's good all right. In fact, he's very good. The only reason that he hasn't played more games and had more game time with the Dockers is that there's this sinister clique of established players at Fremantle that's keeping their good mate Sandilands playing in the first ruck.
  15. On last week's effort, will struggle to hold his place in the team.
  16. It's a gloomy picture that's being painted but on the other hand, the fact that we held North down to below 100 points when they were almost half way there in the first quarter has to mean something about the development of our back line at least. Now, we need to find some class midfielders and forwards (or at least see the injured ones in recovery), gain some confidence and then we should start winning games.
  17. Strangely enough, the AFL's most insular, inward-looking club is Geelong by a long street. Lots of cronyism and in breeding (they even have Billy Brownless on the payroll) and guess what? They're the most successful club in the AFL ATM!
  18. A shameful article that's typical of Crikey. I get the feeling that someone dictated the story for the writer and he obediently wrote it all down. The first comment on the Crikey site was no surprise either - naturally a supporting piece from someone whose interest lies in destabilising the new Stynes board. Mates, Hollywood Boulevard, nepotism and all of the things that someone believes we should we be terribly frightened of, except for one thing - we've had a dozen years of non Hollywood types running the show & we're bottom of the ladder and $5 million in debt. On that basis, Hollywood trumps Bollywood and bring on the mates!
  19. "Ruck tyro Robert Warnock is likely to command a new contract worth almost $1 million over three years if he elects to stay at Fremantle." from the West Australian Freo will pay $1m to keep Warnock Also - "Speculation Warnock would leave was rampant earlier in the season when he played just two matches in the first half of the year and was in inconsistent form in the WAFL after pre-season price tags put his value at as much as $500,000 per year. But it is believed his stocks at the club and his interest in staying have risen in recent weeks since his return to AFL ranks. 'Six weeks ago it seemed he was definitely leaving. Now he is considering it,' a Melbourne-based football industry source said yesterday."
  20. I wonder if Melbourne would consider going after this bloke to work on some of those light bodied young blokes and turn them into men - QUINN TO PURSUE NEW OPPORTUNITIES. Like Western Demon I'm tiring of seeing some of our younger players being brushed aside or forced into making mistakes because they lack the physical presence. Look at Matthew Pavlich and look at his starting opponent Lynden Dunn. Look at Cale Morton. We need someone with experience in this area and Quinn has ten years at Essendon. Worth a look IMO!
  21. It's nice to see that Jimmy get it but what came first the chicken or the egg? To be successful off the field you need a successful team on the field - that way you get the crowds to your games and the sponsors money in your pockets. But you need to be succcessful off the field in order to build on field success... then they despise you.
  22. Not looking good for the young bloke!
  23. Of course, we believe every word we read on bigfooty
  24. Agreed. I like the look of him - perhaps an early second rounder? Is he related to Jack Cahill who coached Port Adelaide?
  25. Haydn Robins looked the goods in his first year but fell away badly. I suppose that's what you expect when you get such a dud number!
