Like it or not, there are a number of advantages when playing Collingwood that don't otherwise apply. The game will still get more publicity than most other games because we're playing against a sure fire publicity magnet. If the papers have nothing to write about then they always look for some beat up about the Pies. We also get to play on a Saturday and have that rare opportunity for a rest on a Sunday. I'd be happy to play against this mob every second week.

Surprised to see the downfall of Daniel Harris at North. Laidley tried to trade him over the pre season and now he's left out of their 22. He always does a good job against us and I'm happy to see him out of their team.

In terms of shooting for goal it was one of those days unfortunately. They must have had about seven shots from difficult angles that went through while we missed a few easy ones. On top of that, Roughhead could have easily been penalised for putting his hands in Martin's back when he took that last mark. Every club has one of those days a couple of times a year when they simply can't miss and they get the lucky breaks in front of goal. The fact that we had more scoring shots and were on top for so long is cause for encouragement and we shouldn't despair at all from the game and its outcome.

A good win to the All Stars in wet conditions. Aussie kicked a couple in a game dominated by the slick moving IAS.

If we are to progress in 2009 we need our players of Moloney's vintage (early to mid 20's) to step up and take greater roles on the ground> I hope he can stay fit and fulfil the promise of his first season with the club.

I don't think anybody needs to play the blame game but surely plans for the possibility of a new sponsor should be made well ahead of time. Up to 12 months for such a major issue as this one. Now doesn't that go back to when they were in charge. So do we know if anything was done on this at an early stage to cover the possibility of the Primus deal not continuing beyond 2008?

I've just been watching a video of the championships grand final and it was interesting that Nathan Buckley nominated Lynch as the player with the most drive to succeed of the young players he was working with for the AFL. Blease also looked the goods in that game but I think he might be taken before 17.

He was on the news at St. Kilda training and he actually looked like a human being. No mo and no bogun haircut.

Has he sworn off swearing and abusing his teammates and others at his club?

Their choices had far more to do with the dollars than with the sort of club Melbourne happens to be and since the $ on offer were greater elsewhere they made the same decisions you and I would have made in the same circumstances. Given the issues with both players, their exorbitant price tags $ the fact they are both only 20 game players, they are nothings in the entire scheme of things. Let's move on to something more deserving of our time and effort.

On the other hand, I have seen very few weak kicks really improve to the point where they were elite standard. The funny thing about these draft camps is they test for a lot of things but not kicking under pressure. We can't afford to take players @ picks under #20 whose skills are poor in this area.

Delighted we didn't take mediocre players for big dollars. $700kpa is better in our coffers or spent wisely on developing players.
