  1. He hasn't played a game for several weeks but they keep forgetting to put him on the injured list. Nothing wrong with that.
  2. Forget about Rohan Bail for next week. He's played one game at Casey in the past five weeks and he requires at least one or two more runs there. Unfortunately for him, there's a bye in the VFL for the interstate game so he's unlucky. Similarly, Martin hasn't played for a couple of weeks and he'll need a run at Casey.
  3. Perhaps if you took the time to read what's being written instead of parroting on about the midfield being important you might get the point I'm making. I never said the midfield wasn't important. We all know that it is but we got the ball forward enough times to kick a winning score but failed to mark the ball or apply pressure in our own forward line to keep the ball in. For the record, I was discussing the coach's ability to swing positional changes that can affect the outcome of a game.
  4. There wasn't just one problem that could be identified as "the problem we had". We were comprehensively beaten in many parts of the field apart from the midfield ... and yes, we lacked run. But the forward line was also cactus on the day and it's not unreasonable to suggest some fine tuning and positional changes as a possible way of addressing the problem might have done the trick. Indeed, and the same goes for some of the analyses I've read above.
  5. I watched Bucks on the ABC when they played their first VFL game v Williamstown and I thought he was quite good. Even his disposal was ok although I suppose the pressure of the game was nowhere near AFL standard. He was certainly not disinterested or lazy that day and the fact that he's pushed his way to the position of emergency in a top 4 side suggests the Collingwood selectors don't think so either. Perhaps your statement reflects more on Collingwood supporters than it does on Buckley?
  6. Hold your horses. We take things one week at a time around here!
  7. I was at that game and the way we played was embarrasing. I remember Jake Spencer's fresh air shot when kicking for goal and all of their tall players having a picnic on shorter opponents. You would have thought we were tanking or something like that.
  8. Apart from his first season with the Bombers I don't think Alwyn Davey has really done enough in his career to warrant us chasing him. That said, if there was a low key swap on offer it might work but I doubt it.
  9. Actually, it is Daniel Bell. The other player involved in the fight outside the Geebung Polo Club Hotel was David Bell.
  10. How on earth did Hawthorn give McGlynn away?
  11. Scully and Trengove were both put under intense physical pressure as you would expect. It's all part of the learning process and both will be the better for it.
  12. Funny thing about ruckmen at Melbourne. They all seem to do better going solo as Jimmy and Jeff White did before the Russian.
  13. Bendigo at Casey Fields in a clash with Melbourne v Hawthorn. One of a few unfortunately.
  14. Enjoy the footy talk on both sites but politics and personal abuse are turn offs. Fortunately, much less of both around here.
  15. Just the usual pre-season hype. Interesting that Hill might not play next week due to injury and Pavlich didn't play. I still would like to see him play because Chip needs a hard workout against a quality opponent.
  16. Ironically, Silvagni will probably make his debut next week against the Demons!
  17. Link ← Forget the rubbish about players having flu. My theory is that they couldn't find enough sober players to make up two teams.
  18. I'm not suggesting for a moment that we're going to be anywhere near premiership contender status in 2010 but aren't the Pies taking things for granted that their fixture in between those "testing early assignments" against Western Bulldogs and St Kilda in Round 2 is going to be an easy one? I hope we make them pay and that they're 0-3 after the Saints beat them at Etihad.
  19. If I remember rightly Ian McLean passed away at a very young age not long after retiring. Very tragic.
  20. They must be thanking their lucky stars that we sent them that sweet angelic Brocky to set an example of politeness and proper behaviour.
  21. They might repeat it on Ten's Late News at 11.12pm tonight. Beware though that you might get the same newsreader who kept calling him TrengRove!
  22. Tim Harrington was just interviewed on Fox Sports News and when the interviewer asked if they would draft Luke Ball even despite the fact he wants to go to Collingwood, he answered "we certainly are." He said it was no different to some of the other players in the draft." He said if "we get to a particular pick and we want him, we'll pick him." It was a pretty good indication to my mind that we will be taking him with pick 18 at the very least.
  23. I picked this up on Cameron Schwab's Twitter and knowing how much the services are valued of many unsung heroes at football clubs, I thought it was worth noting this here ▶ "Sad day yesterday. Funeral for a great footy person and MFC Life Member Terry Beard. Fantastic trainer who gave the MFC 30 yrs. A real giver."
  24. In the immortal words of Lennon/McCartney ... "I'm not half the man I used to be".
  25. Surprised nobody tried to get him in trade week given that quite a few clubs are crying out for marking key forwards.
