  1. Whichever way it goes, it's going to be exciting having 3 out of the best 21 young players in the country joining the club. And with CAC's talents we will hopefully get two or three others who will also have long futures at the MFC!!!
  2. I've been thinking about this for some time and I've concluded that it's in the interests of the club and of our skipper for many years that we have a change of captain for next year. The winds of change are blowing through the club as it is and with Neita in his final years I think the club should be looking at a role similar to that which Alistair Lynch had in his last two or three eyars with the Lions. He was used in the last line of attack and used sparingly. He was often rested during a match and usually missed the long interstate trips. As a result Brisbane got the most out of him and it extended his career. The same should be done with Neita but it can only be done if he takes off the mantle of official team leader - he's going to lead in his own way on the forward line whether or not he has the title! Despite those altercations overseas and his ordinary leadership debut against the Tigers this year, I'd give the job to Brock McLean - he has what it takes.
  3. Interesting take from a Collingwood supporter on one of their fan sites:- If they sack him I say the Pies get him in the PSD. Then keep away from the rest of the squad at a secret training location. Drain & replace his blood on matchdays & do the same to his urine. Then wheel him out in a shrouded cage on match days & keep him locked up for the first half next to our interchange bench. Then if the game is in the balance unleash the beast. But get the PA to blast out a rhythmic drum beat first. And gang tackle any reporter who tries to interview him after each game. Or we could get Kepler Bradley.
  4. "The Eagles have been put on notice that if they appear before the Commission again they could face a fine, suspension, the loss of draft picks or premiership points." The WCE were warned and if Cousins has been up to no good it's time for the AFL to act. Take away their first draft pick at the very least. The Eagles have by their inaction in the past and their tolerance of this all pervading sickness invited action by the AFL. The only question now is whether the Commission and Demetriou have the cahunas to actually do something to this club. They've slapped major santions on us and Carlton for salary cap breaches now let's see if they can walk the walk over the issues that Benny has raised. My bet is they will do nada.
  5. Coming soon: Ben Cousins (West Coast Eagles)
  6. It's already been a big day in footy for the MFC with a major changing of the guard happening. I can't wait to read the Oracle's take on all of this - MEESEN BECOMES A DEMON JOHNSTONE HEADS NORTH And there could be more in store!
  7. You have a thing about Jamar don't you?
  8. It seems that someone has done the trick for you. Shaw's not coming to Melbourne, he's on his way to Brisbane instead. The deal is that we get pick 14 and that's it!
  9. We'd probably have to trade Jamar if we picked up two ruckmen from elsewhere. Would he have any currency among the other clubs? Adelaide maybe?
  10. Knew the cameras were on him so he decided to show the world that he's a fxxxwit strong disciplinarian.
  11. Mahoney's moving experience PORT Adelaide premiership player Josh Mahoney is no stranger to starting afresh and in the coming weeks he, wife Kelly and the couple’s two children will pack up the Mahoney moving van and return to their native Victoria. The 29-year-old enjoyed stints at the Western Bulldogs, Collingwood and Port Adelaide and will now join a fourth club, Melbourne, in what will be his first official off-field role. DB's getting that new team together. Things are rolling!
  12. This Cotchin's an interesting character. Watch him cop a spray from his coach here!
  13. just because it didn't happen doesn't mean it isn't true
  14. Down at Gekkoland another pie in the sjy white shoe brigade deal has collapsed in a heap:- Blues' $500m pokie deal collapses "The failed acquisition also raises questions about Carlton's ability to finalise one of the biggest on-field deals in AFL history — the recruitment of star player Chris Judd. The former West Coast champion is believed to have been impressed by Carlton's off-field revival and is expected to command a salary of more than $1 million a season, if the club can successfully negotiate with the Eagles next week. But Judd is believed to have been unaware the multimillion-dollar deal had soured when he chose the Blues as his preferred club this week." And a question - How does a club that made a $3m profit this year qualify for handouts from the AFL?
  15. Only a very shallow person would fall for such an approach hook, line and sinker. Now it seems that the man of integrity has gotten into bed with a lawbreaker!
  16. As I said yesterday, the bloke has sold his soul. This is a victory for Gordon Gekko in the fight against truth, justice and the Australian way? Don't blame him for chasing the filthy lucre but why waste our time pretending he was interested in other clubs?
  17. That's his job - to make money for his client.
  18. You mean Gordon Gekko wins the fight against truth, justice and the Australian way?
  19. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We can start celebrating if and when he makes an announcement in our favour and not before. In the meantime, let's not speculate about who we're going to trade to get him. IMHO it's unhealhty and a waste of time.
  20. The thing that swayed these imbeciles was that Knights painted a rosier picture of the future than Hardwick - BOMBER BOARD WANTS QUICK FIX. This is like people picking their real estate agent to sell their house on the basis of whoever quotes the highest selling price. That might be OK in a strong and bouyant rising market but in tough times, you want the most realistic and honest approach. The Bombers might rue the day when they decided to ignore Hardwick in favour of Knights simply because he provided them with a rosier assessment. They're about to get crunched!
  21. And everybody should note that at Demonland you are not being encouraged to gamble. Only to bet!
  22. An excellent read Oracle. I think you're right about change being necessary but how many changes to a list are reasonable over any given season?
  23. I'm not sure how it will be viewed but given that he is eligible to play in the finals for Sandringham, would a suspension preclude him from playing at all in the finals?
  24. Surely playing for the Lions' reserves should count for something shouldn't it? I reckon this will be a great trivia question in years to come!
  25. Trannie. I haven't heard that word for years.
