  1. TJ won a b & f. Colin doesn't look like ever coming close. You decide!
  2. Would anyone care to look at the record of CAC's predecessor at the club? I think he had very few hits and as a result CAC had an enormous job to do in those early years in an occupation that inevitably bring your club some misses over time.
  3. I asked this question elsewhere but does anyone know whether Bater is still growing? I read somewhere that he'd grown to 194cm.
  4. Perhaps due to the publicity the old man has been getting lately - Ablett threatens to quit AFL football
  5. Are you able to say whether Bater has grown taller since the end of the season. I read somewhere that he'd grown to 194cm.
  6. Appreciate your response. Thanks.
  7. CAC has been at the club for 11 years and there's been so much change around here recently that he probably sees it fit to make a change for himself and for the MFC. He's been terrific for the club and we all owe him a great debt because our recruiting was in a shambles when he came here. In leaving after this draft, which most people believe is a triumph for the MFC (and for CAC), he leaves us on a high note. Well done CAC!
  8. I agree with the others who think the use of the word "furious" is silly in the context of this discussion. So many players get hyped up during the pre draft period but if you watched Rance at any time, he's a bit on the slow side and at times, uncoordinated. CAC made the call based on ability and I respect that.
  9. I have to take issue with you over Gourdis. He gets invited to the draft camp and he stars in the 20 metre sprint and the verticle jump but is still not selected. There surely has to be another reason? Kangars has a question mark over his kicking and I see from the profiles of the players we drafted, they all seem to have above average skills in this area. In today's football, it doesn't matter how superathletic you are, if you turn the ball over then you're a liability.
  10. Forget Sampi. We need someone like young Sampey or Gourdis from WA, both key forwards who seem to know where the goals are.
  11. Too young and too articulate to be a member of 'ology!
  12. I hate to sound mean spirited but I think it was clearly announced before the start of yesterday's draft that if a club called out the wrong player or incorrect registration number then it would forfeit that selection. Matt Rendell for Adelaide called out Jack Grimes' registration number for selection 30 and guess what the Fonze did when that happened? He allowed the AFL rules to be broken and permitted the Crows to keep the choice. It would have been a tragedy for the club and the players selected if the rule had been applied but surely a professional multi million dollar organisation is supposed to enforce its own rules? It might have been human error but I wonder if the club had been a club like the Kangaroos whether the AFL would have been so generous. I suppose we'll never know. (also shows they had Grimes on their radar)
  13. I think we'll get at least one of those.
  14. or moron?
  15. And he modelled his game on Ben Cousins. Once the Eagles suss that one out, they'll pick him 4 sure!
  16. But that's not what CAC says on the Bigpond video interview - http://bigpondvideo.com/afl/42378 When asked whether the players we pick with our first three selections will play football in '08 he says some of them may but that won't be a major criterion because we're aiming for 10 year players and whether they're mature enough to play next year or whether their schooling allows it that won’t be the major criterion. Dangerfield is therefore definitely in contention despite his unavailability next year.
  17. The Nab Cup hasn't been much help to its recent winners. Carlton have won two of the last three and proceeded to finish last and second last respectively (BTW there should be a law against getting a priority pick if you win the Nab Cup because that's already four wins just for starters) and Geelong won the other one and finished tenth. I agree that we go with our younger players in the Nab Cup however, we shouldn't go out and develop a losing mentality from the outset either.
  18. Would the honourable CFC Minister for the Environment like to make a comment about his own club announcing a gas guzzling motor vehicle manufacturer as a major sponsor? Is this why you joined the club - to be a rank hypocrite? Take your time with the response! Yours sincerely, Freddie Fuschia Kyoto
  19. Saw a picture of him at training and he looks as though he might have filled out a bit since he came to the club which is good because he needed it.
  20. Interesting player, mid 20's 206cm tall. Here's what Wisbey says about him - http://www.voy.com/51976/101371662.html "206cm, 100kg (approx) ruck. Played U18s with Dandenong Stingrays in 2001 (team mate of Paul Johnson's), and trialled for the Vic Metro side that year, then went to Glenelg (SANFL) in 2002 and played Seniors there in 2003 but played 2005 in Reserves then went to E Freo after 2005. Very good WAFL Seniors form (ruck) since then. Invited to 2003 state screening session when playing for Glenelg but, not suprisingly, returned a poor beep test and a shocking 20m time. Been a steady improver over the years and a big improver since 2005. As an 18yo, Michael was very immature (in the non-physical sense) for his age and was slow, awkward (even allowing for the fact he was still growing into his body), and a slow thinker but was excellent at hitouts and not too bad around the ground either (although often had hard hands). Had a disconcerting habit of not listening at the 1/4, 3/4 time huddles (not arrogance, just regularly distracted through poor powers of concentration). Used to do too much spectating and still does (for AFL). Originally from Rowville, came from a financially disadvantaged background and had to do it tough compared to many other kids so I would love to see him drafted for his own sake. Griffiths is very team orientated and has had a very good '06 WAFL season for the bottom team, averaging 11 disposals, 4 marks and 22 hitouts (4th best in the WAFL for hitouts per game). Woewodin got good supply from Griffiths all year. Good '07 WAFL. Griffiths is a long kick who was prone as an U18 to more than occasional shocking kicks but has improved greatly in that area, as he has with marking, over the years. I still wouldn't class his kicking or marking (against strong opposition) as particularly reliable though. He is much better at ball-ups, especially centre bounce, than at throw-ins. I think throw-ins require a bit more guile and that is not Michael's strong suit. He loves his footy and is apparently a likeable, easy-going young man. Regrettably, I'm not convinced he is made for the intensity of an AFL environment (on and off-field) and for sophisticated game plans. At 206cm, he is overall a very good tap ruck but not the type to be running up and down the field as the current style of AFL footy demands. I'm also not convinced he is all that well equipped to handle the scrutiny pressure and nastiness that AFL players can get subjected to. Turns 25 in April '08."
  21. My guess is that he rates Myers below both Masten and Palmer.
  22. Still has a lot of work to do based on what I saw at Sandringham. His major problem is that he's a bit too onr-sided for mine. If he can do something about that then his career is on its way!
